Their estimate was about 20 percent less than the first we got, and the third (Kite and Key) literally never called back with an estimate. They did an excellent job, especially considering that I explained everything I wanted to be done by phone or email. Our walls are plaster, and the area above the fireplace is plaster over brick. They were still able to work cleanly, and only made 3 very small 2-3" access holes total from fishing the wire for the outlets, and all the wall plates lined up flush with the wall. They were in and out in half a day. I would say to make sure you know what you want - they suggested wire mold twice in an abundance of caution about the access holes, which ended up being fine. Luckily my wife and site supervisor knew what we wanted for sure.

He returned my call almost immediately, and was at my door in less than an hour (actually, since he's local to my area, he made it in less than 1/2 half an hour, but unless you live very close to Perry Hall/Kingsville/Glen Arm, you may not get the same super-quick response). Steve asked a few carefully specific questions about the problem, and zoomed in on the source of trouble in no time flat. He suggested that I improve the hose connection to prevent water leakage. After I did so, the problem remained. I called back the electrician, who said that evidently the problem was in the pump itself and that it should be replaced. The electrician was friendly and courteous. I understood that they needed to charge an inspection fee, but what seemed excessive and unfair was the categorization of diagnostic levels that raised the cost of the service call beyond what I considered a reasonable expense for the type of repair needed. For this reason, I cannot recommend this company. It would have been better to work with a company that charges an hourly rate. I will never use this company again - the fees they charge for the service rendered, despite their politeness and friendliness, are simply too costly. The determination that a pump servicing a fountain needed to be replaced cost me $500 plus their inspection fee. Outrageous!
