This is a resource to the community where you pay a membership fee and borrow tool so you don't have to buy into the consumerism culture. They also offer classes so you can learn a skill. I started following them on Instagram and saw that they were having a fix-it fair where you can take everything from close to vacuums to Vitamix to knives to get it all fixed for free! Honestly, what a great resource to the community and I have been wanting to get my knife sharpened for years. It was so lovely to go. Carlos, an instructor at the tool library was so kind and educational. Let me film content, and was a delight overall. I believe the fix-it fair happens twice a year and I am definitely thinking about volunteering at the next event! I will definitely be back to take a course and learn. Truly a magical spot in the city.

I had some cherished family furniture that I needed to donate. After learning about Habitat for…read moreHumanity ReStore, I used their very efficient web site and scheduling system. It was easy to navigate, and it worked perfectly. I received follow-up emails and text messages for the pickup, where the donated furniture was going, and reassurance that the family furniture was going to the right place. Because the furniture was too big for me to move outside, and as Restore can't come into the house, Restore assigned the pick-up to Bulk Brothers. Bulk Brothers acknowledged the assignment, and began their own follow-up text messages, keeping me informed of the vehicle license plate that would do the pickup, driver, and time for pick up. This whole interaction, and follow-on actions by Restore and Bulk Brothers was easy and professional done!

I contacted them to donate 6 comfortable dining room chairs and a sectional sofa which was old but…read morein good shape and very usable. The website allowed me to schedule a pick-up of these objects the next day. I was happy that items I no longer needed might help a poor family. Little that I know that the company that picked up the objects was taking to the dump as they said Habitat for Humanity could not re-sell them. The items were not junk, and could certainly have been enjoyed by persons in financial straits who cannot afford the high prices of new furniture.
