Love, love, love Paws to Play and staff. The staff are wonderful and my dogs love going. Under Ami, the staff make my dogs feel safe and relaxed. My one pup, little (very little) was a rescue and had lots of anxiety about new things. She literally jumps into their arms when we take her. The big dog, very big, started going to daycare as a 6 month old. She grew up at paws to play and had her share of accidents...she was a goofy pup that ran into things when she played. The staff took such good care of her and helped her grow into a well behaved, loving adult dog. Since we work at home, Paws to Play has allowed us to work and keep the doggies happy and exercised! My experience with Paws to Play has been terrible. I originally called to schedule and find out the requirements for my 1yr old lab/retriever mix to come occasionally for daycare when I am in town for work. She loves the dog park and any chance she gets to play with other dogs, so we felt daycare would be a great option for her during long work days. Paws to Play told me to schedule my dog for a fecal test and then to let them know when I did that and they would get me scheduled for the daycare introduction. I was also told often times, they are able to schedule intros "day of." The next day I submitted a sample for my dogs fecal test and then called Paws to Play back to set up an intro date. I then was told they wouldn't schedule the intro until they received my dogs results. So already, they contradicted them selves. Once I sent over her fecal test results, I called again to schedule the intro. My call was not returned, and instead I was sent an email from Ame giving me no options but one intro date and time on a Tuesday, which also happened to be over a week from the date I submitted the test results. I told her I was not able to do that date and she gave me a Friday date instead (almost 2 weeks from when I submitted the results). I agreed for that appointment and asked for them to please let me know if there were any cancellations earlier and I would try to make it work. She advised me there would not be any cancellations and she would keep me on the Friday appointment. I'm not sure how Ame could have told the future, but I agreed. A few days before our intro appointment I was schedule for a work meetingfrom 9-10am. Our intro was schedule for 9:30am. I called asking if it were possible to adjust our appointment to 10am, and specifically asked for a call back. Again, I was not called back and received another email from Ame stating that was not possible and that they would just need to cancel the appointment all together. I responded saying I would arrange for a family member to bring my dog at 9:30 and I would be picking her up after. The day of the intro came and my mother took my dog to the appointment. My dog is afraid of the vet after her spay surgeries, and upon arriving at the daycare she obviously assumed she was going to the "vet." She slipped out of her leash and ran to the car. Paws to Play then informed my mother they would not be able to take my dog for an intro because she "had too much anxiety." My mother informed them that once my dog went inside and realized she was at daycare with other dogs, and this was not the vet, she would be perfectly okay. Paws to Play again said no and continued by telling my mother how anxious my dog was and how it would take "45 minutes to calm her down" should she be allowed to come inside. They stated I would need to schedule some "meet and greets" which would include my dog sitting in the lobby for 10 mins multiple times while someone comes out and pets her and gives her treats. They told my mother they would give me a call. Later that day I again did NOT receive a call, and instead Ame emailed me to tell me they had issues with my dog, she was "under too much stress," and I would need to schedule the meet and greets. I declined. Overall, every single interaction I have had with Paws to Play was ridiculous. It's also extremely unprofessional that I couldn't even get a call back any of the times I reached out a left a message, and instead they chose to email me, despite specifically asking for call backs. What poor business etiquette. You would think individuals who work with dogs daily would be skilled enough to recognize dogs have fears just as humans do, and would allow for a dog to come into their appointment for the opportunity to see daycare is not the vet. And lastly, please don't tell people scheduling is likely to happen "same day" if you are going to schedule them weeks out, and then be so readily willing to cancel their appointment all together when they request a time adjustment. read more

Al and his amazing staff have helped us since 2005 with boarding needs, training needs, including helping a severely damaged rescue dog over come his past fears, and become a great member of society as well as our family. Along with a safe and an amazing time for another rescue dog to run off extra energy with her new puppy Pals at doggie day care. the time and money we have invested with Al and his team and that they've invested in our animals has never been wasted and has made us all better for the effort. This place is amazing. Yes they are serious about the dogs in their care and that is what you want if you love your dog. Al and his staff are always pleasant even when they are busy. They take care of my dog and I don't worry about her at all. I have read these reviews regarding Al and his professionalism and really was put off by them. This man cares about animals and yes he can sometimes seem distracted because he is working with them, BUT he is still professional. I would rather hang with the dogs then some of the people writing these reviews too. I take Zeva there for training and even though she acts the fool sometimes Al stays patient and gives clear direction. I drop her off to play and she comes home happy and exhausted (the way I like her lol). Truly a great place. read more

My dog, Colver, has learned to get along with other dogs since I have been bringing him to this daycare. The staff is professional and alert to the dogs' interactions. Colver and I enrolled in Al's dog training classes and I found them very beneficial and would recommend them to anyone who wants to learn how to train their dog good manners. I posted my review before I read about Pam's dog being attacked at Paws to Play. I am sincerely sorry that her dog was injured and I hope this never happens again. I am so grateful I took the time to check these reviews. I went there today to see the daycare, and decide whether they would be a good fit for our dog. I did not get a good vibe at all from the time I walked through the door. He was lounging at the desk, and from what his description he gave of his establishment, his "staff", what to me looked like a 13 year old girl, who.was hanging out in the office, while all the dogs sat in a small, smelly room. I watched the girl when she finally meandered out to where the dogs sat, and I even asked if she worked there, because she didn't seem to have much of an interest in being there. I toured the rest of the place, it was dirty, it smelled horrible, I saw where they board the dogs, little kennels barely big enough for them to turn around in. If you love your pets, and are truly looking for a safe, healthy environment for them to play and socialize, I would definitely pass on this one. I know I will. We have been taking our dog to Paws to Play for about two years now and she loves it. She was nervous at first but now she loves it and trots right in without a backward glance. Per Al's advice we try to take her at least once or twice a week so that she's used to the routine. The staff is always friendly and our dog really likes the girls. Al is very professional and has high expectations for the dogs. Our dog has learned to follow commands and understands that certain behaviors are expected, like not running and jumping on the gate when we come to pick her up. This isn't just a place to warehouse your dog but a safe and clean home away from home where they can feel loved, safe and comfortable. read more

It has been an incredibly frustrating experience dealing Paws to Play. I enrolled my two terriers here a few weeks ago prior to listing my house for sale. I filled out the lengthy applications and got the medical records sent in to the business, and took my dogs in for an introductory interview, which seemed to go just fine. However, things took a turn for the worse shortly thereafter. The proprietor is extremely unprofessional and does not respect the customer's needs or schedule. He was difficult to work with, and was unwilling to offer even a basic level of customer service. He even had the nerve to call me and lecture me about how inappropriate it was that I had not been bringing my dogs in to play care more frequently (Sorry, I wasn't aware that I, the customer, was obliged to meet YOUR demands for my business, fella). And when I did bring my dogs a week after his rude and inappropriate phone call, he informed me that he had deleted our account because we had not been frequenting his business enough times...wow, thank you! Great service!!! My dogs have been enrolled in doggy daycare before and did just fine; he made it clear he did not want my business without undergoing a series of aggravating and frustrating interactions. I thought our initial "interview" where my dogs played there for 3 hours and did just fine was sufficient; but no, according to the owner my dogs need lengthy exposure with extreme frequency and regularity (but only in short doses according to this man's schedule) in order for you to patronize his business. Apparently customers exist in this man's universe to serve him and his business, not the other way around. Does it suit your schedule to drop off your dog? Better make sure it suits the owner's as well, otherwise you will get a lecture and pushback from this guy. Do you need to drop of your dog for 4 hours? Sorry, he thinks they should only be left for 2 hours because...reasons?...Do you only have the time or resources to drop your dog(s) off when it is convenient for you? Too bad! If it doesn't suit the owner of Paws to Play, you will not get anything other than crappy service and/or a lecture. I suppose he's better at interacting with animals than he is with people, because I found him to be very aggravating to deal with, and possessing of extremely deficient customer service skills. I hope no other unsuspecting person will have to waste their time and deal with this crummy business like I did. When taking your dogs to this place be prepared for a litany of rules (both written and unwritten--he seems to make rules up as he goes about how/when you can bring your dog in for play care, depending on many factors that are plucked out of thin air by him). You should commit to dropping your dogs off with precise regularity according to the owner's rules and parameters (beware, they seem to change according to his whims), not your needs, your convenience, or your schedule. You should expect a lecture if you deviate from his rules and parameters, or whatever may be going through his head at the moment. My entire experience dealing with this business has been negative from start to finish. I have not felt this exasperated dealing with a business in a long time. If you decide to take your dog to this place, be prepared for hassle, or just save yourself the time and hire a dog walker. read more

I love this place! People that are disappointed and rating Paws To Play poorly, don't understand the big picture. My dogs love going to daycare. They love Al and think that being able to mingle the other dogs is awesome. The daycare does have a routine which they need. It is structured to give all the dogs the best care available. Dogs get to meet and greet the others in a safe way, play as a group while being overseen by the staff and down time when they are ready for a nap. Al and his Staff do a great job. The Staff has to learn about each of the dogs, their likes and dislikes and how to best meet their needs. You try and do that with 20 people or more and I bet you'd fail, and people can talk! Al takes pride in what he does and is completely professional. He is dedicated and is easy to talk to. He will give you suggestions for your dog, only to help you. Sometimes people need to be schooled and not the dog. Dogs are simple and only required a few things, people are complicated. I have learned a lot from Al. He has an excellent Training Course that I would recommend everyone take. If you love your dog, you'll take the time to understand him/her. Anything worth your love takes time, give the time to your dog(s). You'll get the love back 10 fold. read more

I was in town visiting and called Paws to Play for some desperate assistance in getting my pup safe daycare. They don't take phone calls, which makes sense, so I drove to their location with fingers crossed. Once there, I explained to the front desk my situation and provided vaccination information. The front desk person said that the vaccinations weren't up to date and that my dog was at high risk for parvo. He continued that there was a huge outbreak of parvo and that my dog would die if left at daycare. I left very upset at what I was going to do with my pup. After bawling in the car, I called my vet, who was able to confirm that the vaccinations were completely up to date and that the front desk person must not have understood or misread. Another vet was able to provide the same confirmation. I was able to secure safe boarding for my pup while visiting, but was very disappointed in the curt, incorrect exchange with the person at the front desk. I hope my experience was an anomaly and they take better care for folks who live in the area! read more

If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. My dog was attacked there today during what was described to me as a "blow out" dog fight. My dog was a victim and not an aggressor. He is currently in surgery as I type this. He is the 2nd dog that is currently at our Vets being worked on. When I asked what training their staff gets I was told they watch a DVD on animal behavior. Granted, dogs can get into a fight but it's what you do to divert or stop it. My dog was pinned down and chewed on. We will not be back and my fear is that he will never recover emotionally. read more

We take our HIGH energy German Shorthair Pointer at least one or two mornings a week to burn off some much-needed energy and socialize. Our pup loves attending and we love him AFTER he's been able to go! Al and his team are exceptional with the dogs and know each breed well. I'm so glad we found this wonderful place! read more
