I recently moved to Canton. I have a pretty high energy 7-month old husky named Otis and he LOVES going to Paws in Play. He always comes back tired. I had a dog walker come 2-3 times a day before I found out about paws in play and he was never wiped out. Now he's exhausted every day he goes there. The staff has been so nice to me and Otis. They always say how much they enjoy his company and it seems genuine. I love my dog and leaving him with Paws In Play when I'm at work makes me feel at ease. read more

Imagine you have a 3yr old. Your searching for daycares he/she can attend. After extensive on-line research and reading reviews, you settle on a place Paws in Play. You make the appt for the live interview, to see if your 3yr old dog is a good fit for the daycare and if the daycare is good fit for your 3yr old dog. You walk in and everything looks ok. Your stopped at the front desk. The play area where your 3yr old will spend all of his days cannot be seen. After all your questions are answered and your feeling comfortable leaving your 3yr old at the daycare, you ask what you think would be a common question. When can I set up a time to view the area where my 3yr old will be for the next 8hrs, 3x per day? The area I'm paying for? You're then directed to go online and look at Facebook pics of the area.... I did that, but seeing the Statue of Liberty on a Facebook post is not quite the same as seeing her in person. And personally I'm just not comfortable leaving my 3yr old in a place that will not allow anyone EVER to see the space they are paying for. Suspect. Paws in Play has a policy that no owner can view the play area, EVER. Not off-peak time, not at closing, not before opening, not even Holidays. All of which I offered as possible viewing times. Suspect. Why you ask? They say to protect the dogs. Ok. Why do the dogs need protection from Humans? Paws in Play interview their dogs. I assume the dogs they accept are socialized to interact with not only each other but other humans? I wouldn't take my dog to a dog park if I knew he bit other dogs or humans. Ok policy is policy. I asked the owner if he would be willing to call me at a time where there are NO dogs at the daycare for me to view the space. And he still refused. Referred me to Facebook. Suspect. This policy and the owners refusal to accommodate what I believe is a reasonable request, while still honoring the spirit of the policy got me way too suspicious about what was back there in the play area where my dog would be. The possible condition of the area. I couldn't in good conscious leave my 3yr old at Area 51. Suspect. I would caution anyone who is thinking about Paws in Play. Anyone considering this daycare for their loved one would have to answer the question. How could you trust a daycare that forbids you to EVER see the space in person that 1. You are paying for. 2. That your leaving your loved one for days and hours. Are we putting our loved ones in Fort Knox? What is so bad back there that you don't want anyone to see? Suspect. As a business owner myself, I shared with the owner that I had called 6 other daycares just to see if this policy was common in that line of business. What I found? All 6 understood not letting the public in the area when there are a "ton" of dogs. But to not EVER be able to tour the facility? Even after hours "sounded weird". The owner harshly replied "I don't care what other people think" And from that reply it also appears that Paws in Play struggles with professionalism as well. Suspect. Sorry, I just don't trust Paws in Play. My dog is my child. I could never leave him in a space that the owner is adamant with me NEVER seeing.. Suspect. read more

We have brought our dog once for daycare, and once for an overnight. The first red flag was the secrecy about the facilities. We were told when we called for our first daycare that we'd get a tour, but upon dropping our dog off we were told they don't do tours. Why? What is Paws in Play hiding? Daycare itself is fine. Our dog came back stinking, which isn't completely unexpected from daycare, but it isn't practical for us to use this place 2-3 times a week, because after a long day of work, the last thing we want to do is give our dog a bath. Our overnight experience was terrible. When I picked the dog up the staff member handed me his food bag, which was still nearly half full. I just expected them to say he was too busy/distracted/anxious to eat. But oh no, the staff member decided to lecture me about how I have provided far too much food and how I am overfeeding my dog. She condescendingly told me that he was overweight "chunky" and if I cared about him, I'd feed him an appropriate amount. Excuse me? What school gave you a veterinarian degree? Our dog is not only on-track according to growth charts, but we measure his food per our vet recommendations. He's a bulldog, those are rolls of skin, not fat! He's built differently. While I can 100% appreciate Paws In Play's attempt to care for my dog and "advocate" for his health, they were out of line. The appropriate thing to do would have been to follow our guidelines (especially since it was just a one-night boarding), and then politely make suggestions when we picked him up. This was our dogs first time doing an overnight, it was NOT the time to withhold his normal amount of food. He was probably anxious and confused just by being there; Paws In Play didn't need to create a scenario where he was potentially hungry too. Bottom line, they tried to come from an okay place, but their execution and attitude wasn't okay. I would only use this place in a pinch, when all other options weren't available (assuming they let us back after this review). Edit: I highly recommend Wetnoze Pet Concierge in Randolph. We are relatively new dog owners. Our neighbor recommended Paws in Play for our new rescue. Our doggo is very timid, but she loves hanging out with her doggy friends here. When we pick her up, she never wants to leave (a pretty good sign I think). When we get home she is always really tired. The workers at Paws in Play are all really nice as well. We did the package deal, paying for 20 visits and it was a great investment, because its a lot cheaper that way. We generally try to bring our girl here once a week. I also love following them on facebook and occasionally seeing picture of our girl having a good time. Our doggo is seriously missing her doggy friends at Paws in Play during the Pandemic. I have asked multiple times to have my dogs leashed to and from the car when they are picked up and dropped off for day care. I don't believe this is an unreasonable request as I live on a busy street. Yesterday I happened to be home when the dogs got dropped off. I heard the person dropping the dogs off screaming at the dogs outside. They once again did not leash them and they ran into the middle of the street and nearly got hit by a car. I saw the car stopped in the middle of the road to avoid hitting them he said they 'jumped out of the car' before he could leash them. But he didn't even have a leash on him so I have a hard time believing he had any intention. I had been using these services for 5+ years but I can no longer do so as I am concerned for my dogs safety. read more

Unfortunately I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt after reading so many negative reviews. I dropped off my dog for a 3 hour evaluation before planning for future day care and boarding services. I got called 37 minutes later telling me my friendly large lab was not fitting in and was keeping to himself. They also claimed he open his mouth on a handler when the handler try to do whatever he was trying to do. Still not clear to me what happened but they confirmed he didn't bite anyone but didn't want it to escalate. I had told the office my large dog is friendly but gets nervous in dog parks and need time to settle. I assumed they were professional and deal with these situations many times. I also assume that they would be patient with all dogs. Unfortunately after 37 minutes into the 3 hours evaluation my dog was evaluated as unfit. I didn't argue because I didn't see this as a trained professional business staffed with fit dog handlers. In hindsight I'm glad they called me quickly so I can see how unfit they are to be hired to care for my dog. I wanted to write this review based on my experience and if your looking for patience experienced dog handlers this isn't the place to take your pet. read more

Bad business! I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before I went in. I called at the beginning of the week and asked to come in and see the facility. They said sure Friday @ 11. I show up and ring the bell get a rude yell from the other side of the wall "picking up or dropping off". Then they went through 4 people talking about giving me a tour. Finally someone came out and said they couldn't show me anything, there were too many dogs. I got to see the office and a 5x5 outdoor space from the window. They took my name and said someone would call me. The owner did about an hour later and told me I could not and would not be able to see the facility or the rooms. They have too many dogs and were just too small to let people in. He stated when they first opened and had fewer dogs it would have been fine. He stressed they had too many dogs multiple times and it just wouldn't work. I told him I would never want to put my dogs in with that many dogs that he has no control over. To me, having that many dogs seems like a safety issue for the dogs. If you go there I would monitor what is going on. They seem like they are all over the place and can't control the dogs. I would first like to say that when I started at Paws in Play I couldn't say enough good things about it to people and feel that it is truly unfortunate what happened there. It took me a while to write this review as I was really hoping that the owner would contact me and discuss the situation. I had been taking my puppy there since August. The first day I took him in for his interview I was told that I would get a tour but when I arrived I wasn't allowed to see the outside area which I thought was a bit strange since most people I had talked to about doggie daycare were able to watch their dogs on camera while they were there. I figured okay this place is just different no big deal. My dog seemed to really be enjoying his time there and was excited every time we arrived. He came home tired and I thought it was working out well. A few months in he started showing signs of needing to be neutered and at 8 months my vet wanted to wait until a year but I listened to the concerns of the manager and got him neutered. After that he recovered and returned to Paws in Play. A few weeks later he came home limping with a shoulder injury. It took him about a week to recover and an expensive vet bill but I felt like things like this happened at daycare and didn't blame anyone for it. His first day back after a week off from this injury I picked him up and was told he had a good day. I got home and within 10 minutes he was vomiting and choking. He was having trouble breathing and I had no idea what could be wrong with him. I rushed him to the animal hospital and they found that he had eaten about 30 small sized rocks. I had no idea where he could have gotten these from. I called Paws in Play and was informed that they do have small rocks around the play area and that this is not the first time something like this had happened. My dog was able to pass the rocks over the next few days but the bill for the animal hospital was $900.00. I emailed Paws in Play to see if they were willing to help with some of the cost as I feel as though this incident could have been avoided. Yes, my dog is a puppy and does put things in his mouth but I have never had an issue keeping him from eating rocks or other objects because I watch him all the time. I was told the next day that the owner would call me. I never received a call and on Friday was told that they could not watch my dog close enough to make sure he didn't eat rocks and that we should find another daycare. I was also told that they would not help with the vet bills as this was "normal dog behavior". The cost to send my dog to paws in play 5 days a week was $500.00 a month and for that price I did expect him to be watched and safe. I do believe he was asked to leave because I complained about him being allowed to eat rocks and asked for some relief for the vet bill. As I mentioned I never would have asked for money for the shoulder injury as I understand injuries like that happen in that environment. My dog almost died from choking on rocks at Paws in Play and as a result no one apologized instead we were asked to find a new place to go. I would warn anyone against using Paws in Play if you want your dog to be safe and properly supervised. read more

Our very high energy dog Kingston has been going to Paws in Play for a little under a year and we can't say enough great things about! We clearly see a difference in our dog the days he goes to day care and the days he does not! Lee and the rest of the Paws in Play family are amazing, patient and caring people! Well I can't comment on the quality of the service because the girl who answered the phone was so rude we decided not to use them. She said we had to wait for an email before even being able to schedule a visit to check them out and then never sent it. She sounded like I was I inconveniencing her. Based on the other recent bad reviews I'm really glad I dodged a bullet. Not sure how you plan on gaining any new business when you treat people that way. read more

My Abby has been going here since she was 12 weeks old. I have never had a negative experience and recently she spent 11 days boarding there and was fine, She was not stressed, seemed well fed and they even brought her to their house one day for a day off. I am so happy that they care for her. She is not an easy dog and they have always been great to her. She gets her nails done there and the staff is lovely !!! read more

It is hard to find a good daycare for a dog, let alone a loving "pitbull" Lucky our rescue pittie, was always turned away based on her breed, nothing else...Well Lucky, is not only scared of big dogs, furry/hairy dogs but she prefers a quiet playtime...Barbara Jean listened to all my crazy concerns about lucky took her in for an evaluation (FREE!) and told me she had been accepted into their day care program!!! Lucky stayed 3 nights at Paws in Play, during that time I know Lucky was in the best of care..I got daily updates with pictures...When we picked her up, Barbara Jean told me lucky LOVED walking on the treadmill, something she had never done before!!!! This gang of dog lovers are the best!! They take amazing care of my dog. I use them for day care (weekly) and overnight care as needed. Jaxson is NEVER more excited as when "Doggy Dave" comes to the door to pick him up! He comes home so happy and tired. (the best part!) The groomer is awesome. She really does a beautiful job. I have heard that Barbara Jean is amazing although I have not had the pleasure of using her for training yet. I really need to. Soon! The "all inclusive" service is great. When they drop your dog off you can have everything else dropped off too...dog food, toys, treats etc. Same prices as store. I recommend Paws in Play to anyone who asks me. My two Springers have been in their care for over a year, and would not trust anyone else! They come home happy and tired. They also groom them and supply all my dog and cat food. I brought my dog here for day care when I was staying at a friends house in Canton for the month- Lucky was never happier! Every morning her tail would wag when we would pull up and every night when I picked her up she would fall asleep immediately after getting in the car. Paws in Play was a diamond in the rough. I left another daycare facility to come to the crew here. They bend over backwards and offer many many words of wisdom in dog training. Also an onboard supply house with almost every quality dog food made. I feel very comfortable leaving my Mississippi Mud rescue dog in their care. read more

Bodhi has been with Lee and Dave for a couple years now. It's hard to find anyone / any service you highly recommend anymore (i've had past dog walkers, remodels, fences, roofing, plumbing all done and they just never seem to get it all right) but Paws in Play certainly get that distinction. Bodhi had a health scare last year and Lee/Dave were there with us every step of the way. Keeping us comforted and knowledgeable with a cancer Bodhi had on his lip. We had our own vet yet they had theirs take a look and reinforce what ours had said. These guys are so much more than "dogwalkers" to call them that would be a huge understatement. Lee cares for Bodhi more than I could ever reasonably expect and takes excellent care of him. I get the feeling they are careful in the dogs they let in the play groups and always feel Bodhi will be will a group of well socialized / behaved dogs. Lee delivers our dog food (during pick ups/drop offs and at a very reasonable price) and Bodhi always comes home tired and happy. We feel lucky to have them to take care of Bodhi and would not hesitate to recommend them- in fact we're been recommending to friends for over a year now and no one has been disappointed in fact most of them have also become regular customers. read more
