We recently visited Westwood, MA, PetSmart for nails and trim. The Staff was unprofessional and rude. I may never go back to this place again. My Pet has bruises from the trim, and it's hard to see him uncomfortable standing. My suggestion: Focus on your customer service, training, and hiring staff that puts pets first, and also collect feedback from customers after the service(Booking an appointment is easy). Went to Hailey on 12/8/24 for grooming on my full bred toy poodle Tina. My dog was kept for 3 long hours with no explanation. When my dog Tina was returned to me i was devastated to see my fur baby with a completely different cut then what i asked for and with unmissable patches all throughout her fur. Petsmart - Banfield Animal Hospital BEWARE !!! I was forced to go to PetSmart - Banfield in Westwood last week for my 17 year old cat. She had been suffering from Renal failure, unfortunately my regular Vet was unavailable. She was suffering, I knew it was time. I agreed to pay for the examination and euthanasia , but insisted that I take her home and bury her in the back yard next to my other deceased pets. Not only did they insist on Cremation but told me that it was "ILLEGAL" to bury pets on your private land in Massachusetts. THAT IS A FLAT OUT LIE. The state of Massachusetts does not prohibit private animal burial, that is determined by animal control in each individual town. Norwood permits it as I have confirmed today. They refused to treat my pet unless I agreed to have her cremated !!! What was I supposed to do, drive around with a suffering pet in my car looking for another VET? Just trying to inform other pet owners, thanks for your time. read more

Unprofessional and poor customer service. After making a purchase I had to return items for a price adjustment. Prior to the transaction, I inquired if used points would be applied to the repurchase. The cashier , just "yeah, yeah." But it turns out I lost the points and was told I would have to get them back through corporate. The second issue is the cashier folded up my receipt, like an accordion, while standing around with no customers to serve. The manager returning all items at that point, just blew it off. Not even I will speak with him. It is not a store that I personally feel comfortable patronizing. read more

I took my senior dog for a wash and clean up today and asked the groomer on duty to please not shave his legs etc and to just clean him up w a classic cut for his breed. She absolutely butchered him, he was shaven so far down he had bald patches, a cut on his ear and was shivering when I picked him up. We are devastated he looks ridiculous and is freezing (practically bald). Worst groomer we've ever been to !! Steer clear of WESTWOOD PET SMART GROOMIMG !!! read more

Friendly cashier and clean store. Really upset because we rushed here with our dog after work for his nails to be trimmed. We arrived at 6:50, ten minutes before grooming office closes. Nobody was there and the cashier said they already left for the day. I'm not asking anyone to stay later than 7. I also understand leaving early if there's only a few minutes left, but leaving a full ten minutes early was really uncool. I drove all the way here for nothing and they definitely could have done a simple nail trim in less than 10 minutes. Don't advertise hours if you cannot honor them. read more

Previously, I've only had great experiences at this PetSmart until today, when I had a really bad experience on the phone with the grooming salon. I had previously lived in the area and took my dog here to be groomed regularly. I even got a phone call when we'd moved away saying they missed my dog and asked if we needed to make an appointment. Fast forward. We tried to make an appointment today at a PetSmart location near our new house which is an hour and a half west of this location, and when we tried to make an appointment, they'd had her old rabies vaccine on file (weird because we have never taken her to another PetSmart to be groomed). I deducted from this that maybe the systems were supposed to communicate and that the old PetSmart would have her vaccine on file and be able to let me know or at the very least fax the copy they took to the new PetSmart when we couldn't find the paper copy or an emailed copy of her vaccine. I called the grooming salon at 10am, and a woman answered. I could hear the dogs barking in the background so it was obvious they we're busy. I politely explained my situation and asked if they could look my dog up in their system. The woman said "that's not my job but okay". I let that one slide because I was trying to be understanding that they we're busy. She tells me that they have her vaccine on file and it doesn't expire until April 2019, so I ask if their systems communicate at all, if there's any way she can send it to the PetSmart were trying to go to, and if she knows of anywhere I can look up the tag number she just kept rudely cutting me off and telling me that that's not her job. Where I totally understand that it's not her job to keep track of this for me, I was looking for a little bit of kindness and compassion. I got none and it really just rubbed me the wrong way. read more

When I was wanting some new fish I decided to pop into pet smart which ended up being a great choose. I was greeted with a hello is there anything I can help you with. That was only the start of what would be a great experience getting new fish. over the next few days I was in and out of the store getting every thing I needed for my fish tank to make it perfect. I would walk in and people would come straight over to see if they could help me. And every time I called because I didn't know how to do some thing they would answer my call with a happy and friendly voice and were very helpful as I asked them questions. Actually I stopped in to petco and to look at some of there things but was terrified at how dirty everything was. And it was crazy how much worse the customer service was at petco, nobody helped me and I stood for what felt like forever and even asked for assistance but nobody ever came. She shaved my dogs legs down to the skin and he had bleeding gouges all over them! He was traumatized and crying when I picked him up. I now go to Pretty Paws and they are wonderful. We seen a lady by the stand where you sign up for classes; her name was Jamie- she asked us if we needed help with anything. I asked her tons of questions and she recommended some stuff to us that we may need for our rottie. She was super helpful and wasn't trying to get me to spend money but rather save. This review is for the grooming salon: I have brought my dog here several times and my experiences have not been positive. This time, I had to write a review. On one occasion, I made an appointment and drove there from Boston only for the salon folks to tell me that the dog's hair was too matted for grooming. I was told that they had to shave all of his hair off and I did not want that. I took him elsewhere - to the Continental in West Roxbury - and guess what? He was groomed with no problem. Occasion number two, decided to give them another chance and took him there again. First red flag was I was told it would take 4 hours for a 11 pound pup. What?!?! Ok, we left him and had to call them to see if he was done when the four hour mark arrived. We called and they said oh, he will be ready soon. We arrive and he looked great. The next day, however, I noticed all these knots under his chin. Matted!!! I called to explain to the manager and he was very apologetic and offered a full grooming on them to remedy. I really think this is about the experience of the staff. Folks seem quite young and inexperienced at grooming. They are not giving an otherwise good company a good name. All of this to say, be cautious about this location and double check their work. The best thing is that the management is very professional, even if employees are not at times. read more

I would give this place a 0 star if I could. It is not the first time we visited the store. I brought my dog here a couple months ago for bath and grooming. When I got my dog back, he didn't seem like himself. Haircut usually cost me 55-65 at this location. When I picked up my dog this time, it was 45. I already had a weird feeling but my dog seemed really happy seeing us. Until we left, got in the car, my dog laid down and I gently touched him, he screamed. I thought nothing about it until the next two weeks of time. He was in so much pain, that he couldn't move. I had to bring him to the vet twice, cost me around 700 to get him meds. He had a bad back etc... legit his body was slipped down in a diagonal line, and he only laid in his bed. He cried in the middle of the night with sharp pain. It was brutal. I swear these groomers either dropped him or yanked him super hard. If you want your dog to be tortured, go ahead and bring him/her there. read more

GROOMING SALON: I'm joining the chorus of voices regarding the terrible service at their grooming salon. I set up an appointment for 4 o'clock. They called me at 3:50 saying they had to move the appointment to 3, and, since I wasn't there at 3 (because I'm not a time traveler), they just cancelled the appointment altogether. I was two minutes from the store, so I just went in anyway. They told me that 4 wouldn't work, because that would have had them there until 7 p.m. (which is their posted closing hour). When I pointed out that they're open until 7 anyway, they said that they usually just close at 5:30, since they're not very busy. I advise everyone to stay away from this unprofessional and unreliable grooming salon! read more

GROOMING SALON: I took my 15 pound puppy to the groomer. I was called about an hour after dropping him off and was told that he had matting on his legs and they were going to have to shave him down to the skin. I asked if they could only shave his legs down and leave his body longer (as its winter and the high is around 15 degrees) and was told no that they can't do that. That it wouldn't be good for the dog. So I gave them ok to shave him in order to remove the mats. Two hours later I get a call that my dog is stressed out and has released his glands, urinated AND defecated on the table and will no longer let them finish his cut. My dog has never been aggressive so I know that they had to have mistreated him to get this reaction. I picked up my dog who was shaven down to the skin on his back, and all fur left on his head, legs and underbody. Save your pet the traumatic experience and DO NOT take them here. read more

This review is for dog grooming. My dog Jackson went for a full groom with extra services. He came back with his head barely shaven. We specifically asked to have his head even with his body and we got the total opposite. When we paid another associate notice the head issue and proceed to try to cut some more of this head and even it out. Didn't really change much. When we got home we found uneven streaks on his belly area. We actually took our dog to another groomer 3 days later to cut his head. Our first time at persmart and don't think we will ever be back again. read more

I was VERY happy with my grooming for my 6 year old golden retriever. Matia did the grooming. She was great! My dog is petrified of going to the groomer and it breaks my heart to bring her there. I could tell they were going to be nice and friendly to my dog. Her haircut and bath came out better than I could have expected. I'll definitely go back and try to book with Matia. She does a great job and treats the pet as if it is her own. read more

My dog has been groomed at this location on two occasions, and the last time we were there my dog appeared very anxious and nervous upon arrival. After asking friends and families about their dog's grooming experience, I think it's safe to say that my dog is not being handled properly. Grooming: Samantha grooms our two Pekingese, one of whom is very, very grumpy and fussy with his paws and ears. She takes great care of them both, and grooms them both like a pro, even when they misbehave. We always feel confident and secure leaving our dogs with her to be groomed. GROOMING SALON: My 5 year old shihtzu would always come back traumatized from his grooming visits. We used go to a mom and pop shop, but after expressing my concerns to a friend, she recommended I try here because she goes here and loves it. For a Monday afternoon they seemed pretty busy, but I found them all to be very pleasant and they really took their time with me and made me feel welcome here. I was nervous because of all the horror stories you hear....but when they called me 3&1/2 hours later and I went to pick up my dog, he was so happy. Very different from the other times I would pick my dog up at our last groomer!!!! He even would go back to his groomer wagging his tail and giving kisses!!! He looked and smelled great and all for a reasonable price. I have been back into the store several times now and always see Grace and Samantha handling the dogs calmly and gently, talking to them too. I feel very comfortable about leaving my dog with these girls and know he will be well taken care of! He also loved his doggy gift bag! Thank you!!!!! read more

I took my maltipoo in on Sat 3-5-16 for a standard wash and cut with EMILY at 2pm. i received a call at 6pm from SHERLY (the lead on duty), informing me EMILY nipped my dog and he was taken to Banfield pet clinic in Newton. but that he was fine a minor injury, was told he didn't cry out or give any indication he was injured(completely downplayed the incident of course) and they would call me back once they arrived back to Petsmart. This was all done without my consent and without earlier notice. I was called 30 mins later and told they were back and i could pick him up. Upon picking him up from Petsmart I immediately noticed 1.) My dog was shaved down clearly with clippers. I only wanted him trimmed not shaved. 2.) They had no paperwork from Banfield indicating what was done or how to treat the wound. 3.) It was not a nip on his neck, but a cut on his throat that measured at least half a inch. The only thing i released was an apology, my shaved and injured dog and no real explanation. Once home we noticed the cut had reopened and he was bleeding profusely. I immediately took him to the 24 hour pet hospital. The doctor examined Bentley and informed me he would need staples in his throat to properly close the wound so it could heal and antibiotics in case of infection and pain. Banfield apparently closed the wound with glue and provided no medication or ointment. All in all it was a horrible experience at Petsmart, very tramatizing for both me and my dog. I will never bring any animal to Petsmart for grooming or any other needs, nor Banfield. The level of experience and professionalism is beyond low and dangerous to any one who owns a pet and wants them safe. This experience was brutal and I strongly encourage anyone who reads this to not trust Petsmart with your pets safety. Because i fear what might have happened to my dog had the cut been deeper and hit a major artery. read more
