Upon entering the fish areas it was dark and dreary. The tanks weren't clean. But I wanted fish so I got 3 Guppies and I wanted a Beta fish. I felt like I was rescuing them from a dark existence. When I got to the register I damn near croaked when he said $32.98! For 4 fish? My Beta fish just died, my water test perfect as I found a wonderful place today and 3 fish costs me &9.88. We've been boarding our guinea pigs at It's a Pet's World for years and they've always done a fantastic job. They are easy to work with and our guinea pigs come back happy and cheerful - it really feels like their home away from home! The owners and staff are true animal lovers who care deeply for the pets they board, groom, etc. They are all very helpful and kind. We recently had an emergency situation where we had to board our guinea pigs for a weekend while they were sick and the staff went above and beyond to care for them while approaching the situation with sensitivity and kindness. They administered meds and critical care, texted us updates, and really treated them like their own pets. I finally stopped by this place after years of seeing their cool mural of their building. The staff was friendly enough, but I wasn't impressed with the cleanliness of the shop. They had a good assortment of animals, but the smell was pretty strong. I was looking specifically for hamsters and when I found them, they were several of them placed in tiny cages. They were also not young...which is fine, but they certainly shouldn't have been kept together with other hamsters. I felt so terrible for them. I know space is limited in the pet shop, but it felt more like a hoarder's house. I pet a pair of cute bunnies that were kept in a wire cage on the floor, and I prayed that someone would buy them soon so that they could be freed from their little enclosure. I'm all about supporting small businesses, but at the end of the day, it comes down to overall value. When it comes to caring for living things, the small personal touch from a store like this makes all the difference, even if my only pet is a Betta fish. In your big box pet stores people walking in with dogs a not uncommon, other animals not so much. Here though, a guy once walked in with a parrot (parakeet, perhaps?) on his shoulder, comes up and says hi to the big, beautiful parrot named Ruby who calls this store home. Their selection is smaller than the big box stores, certainly, but you'll likely still find what your looking for, just not quite so many varieties. They make up for it though when you say "that red sliding Betta food container" and the staff know exactly what you're looking for. Now; while the organization of the store is a little confusing at times, when space is at a premium, your fish supplies may end up in two areas of the store. Just ask for what you need and someone will gladly point you in the right direction. Regarding the folks who work here, my experiences have generally been positive, with employees being knowledgeable and happy to help and/or answer questions. I can't speak at length about the selection for animals other than fish, but it our finned friends are an indication, then this store is doing something right! Brought my two pups in here yesterday for their first ever grooming. Any pet parents could imagine how scary this would seem .... Allowing a complete stranger to take your beloved pet for hours... In this instance Michelle the groomer made me feel completely positive and trustworthy. Michelle has this super kind energy and you could immediately sense her love for animals even over the phone! In person ,all smiles. She was literally EXCITED to take these guys for washing (I mean who wouldn't they're the best). I asked that they get trimmed only where necessary. They are toy Aussies so they don't need an overhaul cut just a clean up. The price was so reasonable 25$ per pup. My boyfriend picked them up and was pleasantly surprised by how happy they were and he could tell right off the bat they did a great job !! They're fur soft and shiny , the problem areas shaved down. Not sure but I miss when you'd come in and these two guys were working (not sure their names), they were super friendly and accommodating, greeted warmly as soon as you came in. I come there for feed and usually when I come now I do not buy anything at all because the woman who works there is incredibly rude and cold, god forbid you ask her a question! Get a snappy two word response. I don't feel comfortable even walking around inside the store because of her energy honestly is so unwelcoming and it's uncomfortable. Super disappointing because the animals in there are the best! Please do better in the customer service front! Life is short maybe smile and be nice once in a while to people who are trying to support your smaller business. Or if it brings you so much misery maybe a different profession is better for you and you can hire in someone else who loves what they do and are pleasant to talk with! It's a business after all and customer service is really important. The animals can probably pick up on that bad energy as well unfortunately. read more

It is incredible that this place has so many positive reviews. We stopped in because it looked like they may have salt water fish, there is a whole wall painted as an ocean scene. When you walk in the first thing that hits you is a reprehensible odor that doesn't go away until you get to the back where the fish section is located. Not sure what that smell is but it's enough to make you want to leave! Probably should have in retrospect because the fish area has one salt water tank that had a dead coral, dying urchin, and a ton of algae. This is some petco level stuff! The fish tanks are disgusting and they should just stop carrying marine life if they can't care for it. Don't support a business that abuses its aquatic life! read more

This store treated me very badly when all I wanted to do was buy a kitten of my choice. Even though I am fussy about what I'm looking for in terms of personality, color and sex, I have every right to be when I am paying big money for a kitty that I might have for twenty years and I can only have one cat. The owner got angry because I did not buy kittens on a couple of occasions because they were not the sex I wanted and I was looking for a part Persian and not a ragdoll, who get to be big. At this point, I would settle for a short haired kitten that is a male, a certain color, and a calm personality. Unfortunately, the owner threatened a restraining order on me and says she will never allow me to have an animal from her even though I am a huge cat lover and vegetarian. She even admits I did nothing wrong, which I didn't. I don't understand how they could treat a paying customer this way when I just want the right forever friend. I've been through a lot with a fire at my house in 2019 and my mother's death in 2022 and all I want is a kitten from this store to cheer me up. The owner gets the most beautiful kittens and I am a big fan. She broke my heart when she ended my hopes of finding a kitten by banning me from the only store that sells them. All I want is a beautiful, calm and gentle kitty that I can love like Sweetie, my long haired black kitten who died in my arms after 20 years of kidney failure and I loved him very much. The owner of this store should let go of her anger and have more of a heart for her customers, especially one who loves kittens and all animals as much as I do. read more

Took our animals here to be groomed. Called because we were late for our appointment and the guy on the phone was cool and casual. Got there and was met by a red bird named holly who loved my girlfriend. The groomer Michelle came out and explained the flea dip, nail cut, and oatmeal bath. She was really friendly, professional, and was immediately kind to our cats. I picked them up clean and flea free 3 hours later and a tortuous greeted me at the door. DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE. LEFT A SHOW QUALITY GOLDEN IN TO GET A LIGHT GROOMING. Gave specific instructions for paws and very very light tidy up and trim. Dog was SHAVED. There was MINOR MINOR matting under ears and they SHAVED his coat. I spent 2 years getting that coat in top shape and condition. The process of getting his coat to stage it was at involved 3 diet changes, multiple fish oils and vitamins. I was horrified as were reps from HDC. I would sue them for this but don't have the energy . His coat will NEVER be the same. EVER. read more

This place is great! I had no issue getting a same day appointment for grooming for my little peanut, Mr. Scamperson. Scampie is a dachshund, so he hates getting wet, and hates having his nails trimmed; since he hates it so much, and I love him so much, I prefer to have someone else take care of it for me. Michelle was a total expert when it came to Scamps and bath time. He was totally relaxed in her care within just a few minutes, and had a great time browsing around the store! We came back an hour or so later, and Scamper was soft, clean and fresh smelling, with his crazy claws clipped and his short coat silky smooth. He was also happy to see us, but not at all perturbed by his surroundings, which is more than I can say for other groomers he's visited in the past. I bought my baby quaker parrot from It's a Pet's World and he is one happy, healthy, tame, well-adjusted little bundle of feathers. From the way he behaves around humans, I can tell he was looked after and hand-fed very well during his time at the store. The people working there were incredibly helpful throughout the whole process of letting me choose which bird I wanted, letting me come visit him until he was old enough to come home, and making sure I had all the answers to my questions. The owner, Michelle, definitely knew what she was doing, and I could tell from the way she and the other employees handled the birds that they really love animals and care about selling them to people who will look after them properly. Michelle is amazing! My dog is pretty nervous when it comes to getting his nails done, and Michelle made him feel comfortable right away! She trimmed and filed his nails within five minutes and my dog came out happy and relaxed. After giving him a treat and telling him what a good boy he was, Michelle rang me up and I was extremely happy to have only been charged $8. Our dog Penny is a grump. She HATES to be groomed and several groomers we tried gave up. Desperate and worried that we were destined to have a little fur ball/street urchin, we tried It's A Pet's World. Michelle was AMAZING. She won Penny over instantly. She is also beyond gifted at grooming. Being a mixed breed, there isn't a standard haircut for Penny. Michelle came up with an adorable and low maintenance cut. The only negative is that I wish they offered grooming on Sundays! Michelle is often booked weeks in advance for Saturdays and coming in during the week can be difficult. read more
