The personable and knowledge-filled shopkeeper carries everything from pet cages to doggy diapers and some lavish leashes to boot. The store also has a variety of healthy, organic choices in the dog food department that don't seem, in my 13 year history of frequenting these joints, too pricey especially for the area. I came home to Alfie with today's Yiji sampling - a bag of greenies, some organic chicken jerky, and a rubber rooster. Unfortunately, all he needed were the doggy diapers.

Every time we picked up our dog he seemed a bit more anxious than the time before, they suggested we give him more anxiety medication. The price of a groom is crazy, over $250 for a small 30lb dog. The turning point for us is that our dog was having an off day and was a bit more anxious than usual - never mean or aggressive, just squirmy. They called us after an hour to let us know, but told us they'd keep trying. Two hours later he was ready for pickup - I assumed that 3+ hours at the groomer meant they got through it. When I picked him up they told me they did not cut any of his hair, only a nail trim and bath. To my surprise, they proceeded to charge me the full amount of a groom - a $250 bath and nail trim. Very dissapointed given we were longstanding customers and they knew he was having an off day. We will certainly not be back. **UPDATE** We took our dog to another groomer who let us know that there are clear signs of trauma from previous grooming experience. He was clearly pushed past his comfort level at Dogfather to a point where he has developed a traumatic fear of being at the groomers. This explains why he was more and more anxious to go each time. This is deeply upsetting and I only wish we changed groomers sooner.

I can't stand…read moresomeone staring at me from below the table when I eat, so I needed something that would be sure to distract him for at least 10 minutes at a time, and also not disintegrate under his powerful, monster jaws. I've seen this dog tear a somewhat-soft toy to absolute shreds in 30 minutes. He eats rawhide bones whole (I have never been so anxious about another being's poop in my life). Anyhow, the lady who owns this store is incredibly friendly, chatty and knowledgable. She asked me what type and size of dog I had, and suggested the very bone that he's been happily gnawing away at for at least a full hour now. We had a very nice conversation about dogs and bones and stuff and I left happy. She called me "hon", which I also really enjoyed because she fits the acceptable criteria of being at least 10 years older than me and... whatever the opposite of patronizing is. The store itself is small, but there seemed to be a wide variety of food, toys and accessories for cats, dogs, birds and other small things. I'm so happy to have found this spot. When we get a dog of our own, this will likely be my go-to for all things pet related.

Today we took my mum's dog bebe (a 4 pound chiuahua) to get her nails trimmed Timmie Doggie Outfitters. When my mum went to pass bebe to the STORE OWNER (who said he would take her) he quickly removed his hands and allowed a 4 pound little dog fall, at least 4 feet. She landed on her side and rolled onto her back. Thank God she doesn't seem injured - however this man, a shop owner in downtown Toronto then had the nerve to say she was showing him her teeth. Bebe is a sweet dog with no agression whatsover. We didn't get so much as an im sorry. He showed no remorse, and behaved as if nothing had happened after being confronted by my mum and myself. Is this the way we expect our beloved pets to be treated by a "professional" who owns a business where he cares for our beloved fur babies. This needs to be posted and people need to know what kind of man they are trusting their furry family members.

She also knows of many interesting pet grooming stories. I don't know if your dog enjoys getting his nails trimmed. Mine tolerates it, but there was one time he gave some attitude to the groomer - he was going to resist getting his nails cut. She looked him straight in the eye and told him a thing or two. He settled after that. When you walk into the store it looks the same as every other tiny pet shop that is owned by some family for years who don't really know or care what they're doing -- so she has really surprised me with her knowledge of the products she carries and of animas in general! She definitely knows her stuff and if you have questions about dogs and feeding she has great advice that can be trusted. Bark & Meow has a frequent food punch card program where you buy like 9 packages of food you get the next one for free (might not be the exact number, I can't remember). They keep the cards there for everyone in a Rolodex thing so you don't have to carry it around in your wallet and also you never forget to bring it! Awesome! I have not used their grooming services and I probably never will based on the groomer reviews, though. For the record, I've never seen or heard the groomer here yet. The owner is great though!

They also have a great selection of raw menu items for dogs. The staff are very helpful. Not being a pet owner myself, I learned a lot about grooming products from the staff there. Would definitely recommend dog lovers or friends of dog lovers to stop by the store for treats or gifts for the dog in your life.

I first came here to buy gifts for my friends' pets and now come here to buy treats for my own pup. The store looks small but they have a great selection of dog toys, including some adorable plush ones like avocado toast or chicken and waffles!! (Perfect for Yelper's pet;)). The prices may seem a bit higher for some things, but the quality is great. My dog has chewed through some cheaper toys already, but the ones I got here are still holding up. During lockdowns, they have the curbside shopping down. You stand at the table and say what you want and they will bring you a whole bunch of options you can look at. Also many of the staff seem to have been working there for years. You don't always see that a lot in retail and I think/hope this means that they treat their employees well. If you're lucky you might glimpse their resident pets in the aisles too!
