Immediately I noticed that it is dog-friendly with a few small dogs. I was drawn to the huge freezer along the left wall at the entrance of the store. They have a lot of fresh meals prepared for pooches there. There were raw packaged meals, fully-cooked frozen meals, bone broths, frozen eggs, and lightly processed meats. There is a brand called Tom & Sawyer that has really fancy meals made from human-edible ingredients. I picked up a couple packages - one that is kangaroo meat and the other that is a rosemary venison. I also saw flavours that were seafood based and a coconut chicken! They are a little bit pricey though at $10-12 a package. Per the portion size instructions, a 30 pound dog would need 1.25 packages a day! The staff there were pretty nice. The top shelf of the freezer too tall for little ol' me so I had to ask someone for help. They were happy to oblige and then helped me check out as well. I was asked about whether I wanted to sign up for their newsletter and was told I would receive a coupon via email sometime later. I'm hoping I star to see more of these stores around the city.

Another plus in my books is that they have tap for customers who choose to pay using a credit card. For pet owners in this part of the city I suggest stoping into use their weight scale on your pet.

I first came here to buy gifts for my friends' pets and now come here to buy treats for my own pup. The store looks small but they have a great selection of dog toys, including some adorable plush ones like avocado toast or chicken and waffles!! (Perfect for Yelper's pet;)). The prices may seem a bit higher for some things, but the quality is great. My dog has chewed through some cheaper toys already, but the ones I got here are still holding up. During lockdowns, they have the curbside shopping down. You stand at the table and say what you want and they will bring you a whole bunch of options you can look at. Also many of the staff seem to have been working there for years. You don't always see that a lot in retail and I think/hope this means that they treat their employees well. Every time we picked up our dog he seemed a bit more anxious than the time before, they suggested we give him more anxiety medication. The price of a groom is crazy, over $250 for a small 30lb dog. The turning point for us is that our dog was having an off day and was a bit more anxious than usual - never mean or aggressive, just squirmy. They called us after an hour to let us know, but told us they'd keep trying. Two hours later he was ready for pickup - I assumed that 3+ hours at the groomer meant they got through it. When I picked him up they told me they did not cut any of his hair, only a nail trim and bath. To my surprise, they proceeded to charge me the full amount of a groom - a $250 bath and nail trim. Very dissapointed given we were longstanding customers and they knew he was having an off day. We will certainly not be back. **UPDATE** We took our dog to another groomer who let us know that there are clear signs of trauma from previous grooming experience. He was clearly pushed past his comfort level at Dogfather to a point where he has developed a traumatic fear of being at the groomers. This explains why he was more and more anxious to go each time. This is deeply upsetting and I only wish we changed groomers sooner.

She is very…read moregentle and she is the only person I would ever let near my dogs when it comes to grooming (and we all know how neurotic I am as per my other "animal place reviews" :P). Jasmine is extremely meticulous in everything she does and pays a lot of attention to detail. She always makes sure if I have specific instructions such as using special shampoo for my pug's sensitive skin. She is also very gentle and my pug absolutely LOVES Jasmine. It's like she doesn't even want to leave at the end of her "spaw" experience. I definitely would highly recommend Jasmine to ANYONE who loves their fur-baby as much as I do (and *everyone* knows my pug is super high maintenance).
