Best catfish I've ever had. We can't wait to come back to Sevierville every year and the first stop is always PawPaws. Staff is so friendly and helpful and all the different dishes (shrimp, gumbo) are great too. Already looking forward to our next meal there! read more

Fantastic spot for your (southern) fish and chip fish + even more southern classics, like boudin balls, gumbo, po-boys and more. I came here after a long morning hike, around 3pm, and the place was still bustling. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. The boudin balls are a must try.... came out fresh and hot, perfectly seasoned. This would be a great intro if you've never had them and you're not in Louisiana! Had to also try the chicken and sausage gumbo, and this was a 10/10. Good size, if you're not hungry and looking for a little snack, this is perfect. I would even say this is filling enough with an appetizer and the soup. Generous meat portion in the soup as well. The fish was perfectly cooked, not dry whatsoever, and light and crisp exterior! Too good. This spot is worth traveling to - unassuming and delivers on fresh Southern food!!! read more

We stopped in for an early lunch and the place was already about half full. The service was very engaging and informative. My wife had a cup of gumbo and a cup of jambalaya and I had half a shrimp po boy and a cup of jambalaya. The food was fantastic. The jambalaya and gumbo were both among the very best we've ever had. The shrimp was mightily breaded and delicious. Great Job!! read more

Stopped in here while on vacation. Was able to do call ahead seating for a party of 10. Friendly and attentive waitress. I ordered the fried catfish Acadiana with pasta. The catfish was flavorful with a light breading. The pasta and fish had a creole Sauce that paired nicely. Could have used more sauce on the noodles! I ordered a side salad for my other side. Was simply lettuce and cheese. Overall, very good meal! read more

Pawpaws is yet another hidden gem of Sevier County and certainly earns a spot in my top 10 there. This is authentic cajun cooking, the way it's supposed to be! Known for their catfish dinners, you'd be crazy not to try some red beans & rice along with boudin balls while you're here! All of the above were excellent along with 5 star service and a casual atmosphere. Locals know...this is the spot! Everyone on the front porch spoke of how great it was as we waited to dine, and they weren't lying. The dining area is small but well worth the wait to enjoy this place! read more

The most enjoyable meal we had. Catfish was the best we've ever had. Service was great. Everyone was very nice and helpful. We will come to Pawpaw's catfish every time we come to town from on read more

We ate there on Friday. It's a cute place and the wait staff was great. Mom & Pop diner with only a few booths and tables. There is so much to choose from! We're from Louisiana and were raised on catfish. I got the Catfish Poboy and several in our party got the catfish/shrimp basket. I immediately thought the catfish seemed off. My husband said later it wasn't the best he'd had. It's expensive too. Baskets are $19.50! The Poboy was $15.00 and a ham & cheese Poboy was $13.25. I'm not much for French Fries but they were amazing; batter dipped and definitely the best thing I ate. The baked beans were watery (never seen that before). I may go back and try something else but only during lunch when the prices are more reasonable (we were seated at 2:01 and missed it by 1 minute). For those who haven't had really good catfish, it may be fine but IYKYK. I really wanted to love it but I didn't. read more

Found by accident while vacationing. Small establishment with very helpful staff. We had a large party, so we called ahead. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated. Simple yet purposeful menu. I selected the crabcakes Orleans. It was 3 crabcakes served atop rice or pasta with a creole sauce and shrimp. Crabcakes were flavorful and had a great mixture of spices. The creole sauce atop was a great addition, I could have used more. Only negative was I found a couple pieces of shell in my crabcakes. Not a big issue, but it is worth mentioning. The baked beans lacked a lot for me. Seemed to be pretty food service quality. The catfish stole the show! Crisp, flavorful and not at all oily. Please note: a 4% charge applies to card purchases. Came across this place off the side of the road on my family's road trip to Tennessee. We're so glad we made the stop because the food is great! Huge portions and cooked to perfection. Got the sampler plate to try a little bit of everything, and each bite was so perfectly crispy! Our waitress was Misty and she had great southern hospitality. Overall a 5/5 experience and highly recommend the place to everyone visiting the area! read more

No complaints. The sampler appetizer was excellent. We did the lunch special: 1/2 Po-Boy and a cup of soup. Chicken and sausage gumbo was full of meat. Shrimp and corn soup was a great option. Although we didn't order it, the couple at the table beside us said the White Chocolate Bread Pudding was the best they ever had. All of our food arrived in a reasonable time, and everything was piping hot. Their slaw is scratch-made; potato salad is not. Some of the best boudin balls I've ever had. read more

Great food! Always consistent! If you want the most delicious fried fish you have ever had, this family owned, small restaurant in Wears Valley should be your go to! My favorite menu items are: a cup of chicken sausage gumbo, 3 piece fish basket (generous pieces of fish, enough to share!) and finish off with the white chocolate bread pudding!! Absolutely wonderful! read more

The people here are so friendly and inviting. It's a sweet spot. We arrived just before the storm of people arrived. There was one other person in the dining room. Their crew behaved like a loving family would. It's located off the beaten path of "Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg". It was such a pleasant experience. Before we finished our food the entire place was full. The food is fantastic! We absolutely loved everything and we ordered as much as we could, we had dinner and leftovers. They have a family order option that served us wonderfully. I like that option and more places should offer it! Good on the owner for that! read more

Pawpaw sounds like papa. This catfish kitchen serve fresh catfish. The located very country road. It is definitely have some say on catfish specialties. We have the catfish sampler. It has catfish nuggets, alligator tails, hush puppies, small crab cakes. Great samplers to have. We also got a fried catfish dinner that comes with salad, fries, hush puppies, fried shrimp and added grilled catfish. This is a good combo. For the beverage, we have the local brew beer Abita like amber lager. All meals are good and fish is fresh. We also like the service in the dining room. read more

By far the best Cajun food I've had outside of Louisiana and south Mississippi. I got the oyster poboy and hushpuppies which tasted like home. The hushpuppies weren't sweet like some places and the poboy bread was identical to what you'd get in Nola. The fries are battered and crispy. The shrimp was also good. My mother ordered the roast beef poboy and it was sort of chipped instead of thinly sliced, which I've never seen before and she wasn't terribly impressed with that but it wasn't bad. They have alligator on the menu if you enjoy it. We went on a Saturday for dinner and there was about a 30 minute wait to be seated since it's not very big but well worth it. The staff were all friendly and the owners are from Louisiana, lots of LSU merch and Fleur de Lis accents. My only complaint was the ceiling fans and frigid temps inside. I would ask to be moved next time if seated near a fan. Overall a great local business with authentic food. read more

Oh my gosh. Im from Louisiana. Yall it's good. Really good. People are friendly, food is seasoned. Oh and the Muffaletta! They get fresh Muffaletta bread from N.O. I buy one every time we come in. Great service and great food. A very no-nonsense joint in the lap of the mountains. It's very cute and quaint wrt decor. The wooden chairs outside add perfectly to the decor and vibe of this place. We got the seafood platter - the catfish was soft and flaky inside with a crispy exterior. The fried oysters were amazing and so were the shrimp. Highly recommend the gator appetizer thing. How did they manage to make the gator meat so soft I have no idea! Their fries are also perfect btw. And don't forget to get the slaw with the basket. It's so fresh and compliments perfectly. The ramalade they said was freshly made and it was pretty amazing too. You have probably guessed that I liked everything they made and even liked their service :) read more

To anyone from the south coming here looking for traditional "catfish house" type food DO NOT!! I'm pretty sure the "catfish" was fake! As far as the gator bites they were great. Service was super quick. We won't be back do to the lack of fresh/real fish and nothing else was really that great or Cajun. Almost like they were trying to make shortcuts for a bigger profit without providing the food advertised. This was not Louisiana cooking. read more

very disappointed especially based on other reviews!! I am from Mississippi and grew up eating catfish. The catfish was edible but not great. The chicken fingers were pressed chicken meats similar to McDonalds nuggets and not at all appetizing! The jambalaya was dry and not worth finishing! I would not recommend this restaurant.
