Stopped in to try this place out. Yelp reviews stating they have the best burgers in town. I got a cheeseburger with mustard and double pickles and a hot dog all the way. The burger was good -not great. The hot dog was pretty darn good. Staff is friendly and organized. It's a hole in the wall kind of place as far as ambiance is concerned but it looked decently clean. I'd recommend for the hot dogs for sure. I'll go back to try other menu items if I happen to be in the area and hungry. read more

I'm so glad the place we were headed to eat was closed, which caused the redirect to PawPaw's. The service was great and the food was great too! All I have to say is wow . We were visiting the area to visit some family. We asked for a local place they would recommend and this was it. We were told this little dive place had the best cheeseburgers. Cheeseburgers!?!?!? Yes, and they did not disappoint. This truly was a little hole in the wall dive restaurant (which I think are the best). We ordered the Paw Paw Special which is a double bacon cheeseburger and fries for 6.99. Each patty was probably a 1/4 lb and absolutely amazing. A perfect grease to cheese to bun ratio. The wait staff was so friendly and on top of it. We never had a glass that went below the half way mark. In fact they topped us all off and gave us to go cups without even asking. My onlyregret is not taking a picture of my actual food. read more

Paw Paw's has been family owned and operated since it opened in 2007. Their goal is simple: friendly people serving good food to local regulars and people who stop by for a meal-- perhaps after a visit to the zoo. And they deliver. Double cheeseburger: a single probably would have sufficed, but the double was excellent. They make each burger fresh when the order comes in. This is of critical importance. The burger had a nice char and was juicy and flavorful. Hot dog all the way: the all beef wiener was tasty, but it could have used a little more slaw. A generous amount of meaty chili that had a somewhat different (but good) taste. Crinkle fries: very good Sweet tea: excellent--a nice blend of bold tea flavor and sugar. This place is really neat. It is heavily stocked with locals, but I also saw a few first timers (taking pictures--dead giveaway). And the staff is very welcoming and friendly. What more could you ask for? A great hamburger joint located on the north side of Asheboro. Excellent service. Great lunch specials. But, the best part is a fantastic and juicy double cheeseburger called the Paw Paws special. This burger is topped with bacon and comes with a side of your choice. My preference is the seasoned fries. They also have delicious sweet tea. This diner serves both breakfast and lunch. This is a tiny diner located in the northern end of Asheboro. They serve breakfast (until 11:30 AM), have a small lunch steam table area. with daily specials - they close at 3 PM.. The menu calls it a buffet, but it really is a small cafeteria setup, with 2 or 3 meat choices, and some veggies. There was some heavy traffic at it at lunch from blue collar and construction folks. Meat & 2 comes in at $5.85, with bread. The outside sign claims they serve the best hamburger in town - and they just might. The hamburger meat is never frozen, deliveried fresh 3 times a week, and hand formed. This is a good size burger, full of flavor, and goes for $3.89 - nice burger. The Chili Dog ($2.09) is only so/so, chili is thin and on the sweet side, and a little pricey - would not order again. Soft drinks are $1.59, and they bring a full to go cup with your eat in order. The FF order is well sized and goes for $1.69. Unfortunately they are the ridged, rectangular fries, with little real potato flavor, although the ones here are served crispy. I called today at 1:25pm to place an order and the lady who responded had the ugliest attitude with me and had an issue when I asked for the total of my order I placed. Then when I received my order it was an even worse experience. The burger was soggy and raw, the fries had an unpleasant taste like old oil was used to cook the meal. I am reticent to leave a bad review about a new restaurant. However, it was literally some of the worst food that we have attempted to eat. I ordered white fish, which was grey and slimy. One piece had no fish in it. It was simple an empty shell of fried batter. My wife ordered chicken tenders, which were obviously pre-breaded frozen and also inedible. We could not finish eating and left. The waitress noticed that we had not eaten our food and asked, "How was it?" I was honest in my reply and the cashier said that she would tell the owner. We paid for food that we did not eat and left. Perhaps they are better with other menu items. Hopefully, they will improve and stay in business. However, I don't think we will be able to get past the first impression and try it again. read more

Place is either really good or really bad. Today was one of the really bad trips. Came 30-35 mins before closing, ordered CB & FF. Asked the server to make certain the cook actually cooked my fries and not just toss soome that had been cooked bck in the fryer. Of course this didn't happen. Saw the Copok dump pre-cooked fries back in to the fryer. When they came to the table they were dripping in grease. I would have asked them top be sent back and have fresh ones cooked, alas my server didn't seem concerned about my food and never once came back to see if everything was OK. It may have been these Ladies wanted to get out of there. Three Ladies, only one working the table of which there were like 6 groups! Burger was delicious as always, just hate they can't read a ticket, follow an order request or even give a damn about their Customers!! I'd heard great things about the burgers here, and quite frankly, I don't get it. There are so many better options in close proximity, I can only venture to say that convenience and habit is what has kept this establishment open. The patrons all looked to be regulars (typical of many of the diners in the area), and like they had been dining here since Regan was in office. Nothing wrong with that, if it ain't broke, don't fix it I suppose.... My burger came to me unseasoned and more warm'ish than "hot-off-the-grill"by a surly waitress that busy chitchatting with other customers about her bad day. No drink refills were offered, no check back to see if everything was okay with our order (it wasn't- my daughter ordered a bacon cheeseburger and received a hamburger) and our fries were cold. While we waited for our bill, we overheard two waitress arguing loudly - in the dining room. No concern or care about the tables filled with customers. The manager (maybe even owner) behind the counter did nothing to stop them, completely awkward and unprofessional. We'll definitely be sticking to our normal haunts for delicious, hand packed hamburgers. There's one right up the road that we often go to (P&Js), and Midway in Sophia is surprisingly great, too. We got to Paw-Paws maybe a little before two so we missed the lunch crowd. Our waitress was quick with our drinks. My son and I both choose the double cheese burger combo. Burger came with Let-Tom-mayo-bacon and hand cut fries. I also got a hot dog must-chile-slaw. Dog was ok,nothing to write home about. We noticed a small steam unit to the back of the building that carried their lunch menu, I believe country style steak was the meat of the day, but back to the burgers. There fresh hand made patty was thick.Made for a really thick burger. Next time I'll get the single. Don't care for a super thick sandwich. Our burger was good as was the fries.
