Not a bad place to eat. They have a few new items but I haven't been here in months so.. my kids really enjoy the pancakes and French fries. Weird combo but it keeps them quiet lol. The staff is pretty good at getting everything and super friendly. Hard to judge something like an IHOP. It's either good or bad and this one is pretty good.

Our food was good, the steak tips were a little undercooked but still good. The only issue is the hostess stand was completely failing and the manager was no where to be found. We put our name on the list and was told 15 mins. However it was more like 45 mins, and while we were there we watched a mass exodus of customers waiting leave before being seated. There were plenty of empty booths but apparently 4 parties of 6 people brought the restaurant to a complete standstill, with the kitchen backed up they decided not to seat anyone else. 4 names were on the list before us all party of 2's and all 4 walked out. After us on the list was a party of 5 and another party of 2, they also walked out after waiting 30 mins. A party of 5 left, and then another party of 3. There wasn't a hostess at the front and it appeared as if it wasn't any one persons job but any waitress who walked by would say "not much longer" and keep walking. It ended up being a 2 hour breakfast and I never saw a manager the entire time.

My "extra" vanilla sauce and the not even half full caramel.

This Ihop has a consistent smell that will make you take your food home and not eat it. It's amazing how run down this place has gotten considering it used to be packed. I came in last night and ordered tres laches pancakes with extra vanilla. A full stack is 4 pancakes now for $12. Instead of my extra cup of vanilla she just give ma half the caramel and a full vanilla. Like gee thanks and I didn't even get a receipt to be able to review it so I'm leaving my review here. The one thing I can say is it was fast since there was only 1 other car in the parking lot and her kids was running all through the place tracking her down since she was also all over the place. I don't see me going back until there's definitely a overhaul. I was going to Mebane which is cleaner but the staff there act like they could care less. I've had to wait there for almost a hour because their staff don't like answering the phone and will literally cut off the ringer. I guess no more Ihop. They just don't care if they have customers or not anymore. The whole drive to Mebane to wait 45 minutes because they wouldn't answer the phone to take my order is BS! And having to eat at a dirty Ihop is even more BS! You can see the filth in the upholstery and smell it in the whole place. Please bring back the Ihop I used to constantly visit. Clean, lit up, cheerful and great breakfast at great prices back in the day. And top notch customer service was always available! The way it is now it's just going to end up closed again and no one to blame except the people that don't want to provide the service. It don't cost $12 to make 4 pancakes not even with the toppings. It's paying for service that we're not receiving. Including maintenance and cleaning.

I had the French toast platter with the fried chicken. The French toast was pretty good but the bread used was pretty flat but it was tasty and the chicken was overcooked, there was some black spots from being fried too long. My friend ordered the breakfast burrito, it was huge! For a side she had the sweet potato tots. She let me steal a bite of both and yum! I opted for the Hot Honey Chicken with Pimento Benedict and wow! I was nervous the pimento cheese would be overpowering, but it wasn't at all! It was a nice, creamy complement to the spicy crispy chicken. The hollandaise cut through some of the richness for a pleasant mellower. Prices are reasonable and our waitress was great! This is a solid restaurant with much to offer in the brunch/breakfast area - an area that has become popular and chic, and it almost always means much will be expensive, usual very expensive considering the less than costly menu ingredients that drive food choices here, and other such brunch spots. Brunch is seen as more than just a meal for some folks who are all into what is trendy, and restaurant are aware of this and prices are raised due to the "experience" element! I have tried several items here including their version of Huevos Rancheros (not a fan of how they make it, pulled pork is a party foul), the Eggs Benedict (decent but over priced for sure, $17 with bacon added), and several Omelette choices, can reach $15. This is obviously a popular spot in downtown Winston, but I find it generally overpriced, loud, and the service is inconsistent. I like a good adventure, but somethings simply are not worth the cost! Note that the prices for individual items are written, very lightly with no $ sign to the right of the item. This is done intentionally to make the customer pay less attention to what they spending. Many restaurants are using some form of this approach!

It closed in early February for what were supposed to be renovations, only to reopen months later with a new name and a new concept, trading slightly upscale Southern for more upscale Italian. In some regards, this makes sense - it fills a void created by the closure of Lulu and Blu - but in other ways, it's a massive gamble. My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner, and while it was an overall pleasant experience, it also made us miss Magnolia. The higher price point is the chief culprit. Otto and Blue offers pastas in the $20s and entrees starting in the $30s, bread and olive oil not included. While we were celebrating an occasion that merited such a splurge, it's hard to imagine the restaurant remaining competitive at those prices once the sheen of newness wears off. Look past that, however, and Otto and Blue shines in both ambiance and service. It's classy without being stuffy, and the dark turquoise tones suit it well. Allison, a Magnolia Blue mainstay, was personable and attentive and provided excellent service throughout the meal. Otto and Blue's menu offers apps, salads, pastas, and entrees. It's predominantly Italian albeit with a few options for the steak-and-potatoes crowd. The dishes range from recognizably classic (rigatoni Bolognese) to conspicuously elevated (halibut piccatta). After mulling over several offerings, we went with the bread service, tagliatelle, and duck cacciatore. The food ranged from fairly good to outstanding. While $9 for bread is a tough pill to swallow, they executed it as well as they possibly could have: a hot, fresh ciabatta with tasty herb butter, olive relish, and a quality olive oil-balsamic combo as accompaniments. The cacciatore boasted a pair of duck legs confit, and while I'm usually no fan of dark meat poultry, these were prepared well with crispy skin and plenty of meat. For a typically hearty dish, the sauce seemed light (and a bit subdued), but that could be a consequence of serving atop polenta (more absorbent) rather than pasta. Speaking of pastas and sauces, the tagliatelle hit a nice balance of creamy and zesty without swimming in its white wine lemon sauce. Surprisingly, the highlight of the meal ended up being the dessert that Otto and Blue kindly offered as an anniversary gift. A scoop of vanilla bean gelato came adorned with a Biscoff cookie, a drizzle of olive oil, and a dash of salt. If salt and especially olive oil on ice cream seem vaguely blasphemous, don't knock it until you try it. Each bite was thoroughly delicious. It's a given that good food doesn't come cheap, but even so, Otto and Blue has no margin for error to justify what it charges. On food alone, it was close but not quite there. However, the overall experience made it worthwhile, and I have no regrets about dining here.
