Patrick Shreves is an EXCELLENT stylist and colorist. I have been going to Patrick for 2 years and would freak out if he moved out of the area. I am very particular about my hair--it has to be tre chic and now. Patrick won't let you leave until every hair is cut perfectly. He is very detail-oriented and does a fabulous avant garde cut. People always compliment me on my cut and color! I am guessing that the few people who gave him poor reviews are soccer moms with no sense of style. My mom booked massages for my sister and I. Alma was the best. I didn't have to say anything because she could obviously tell where I needed the most attention. She was able to release tension in my hips more than any massage I have received and the work she did on my shoulders was beyond what I could have expected. I've been to Alma at Paul Strom's Salon twice for eye brow shaping and skin waxing. She is quite precise and meticulous in everything she does. She is especially gifted in shaping eyebrows. The salon is beautiful, great atmoshpere and the customer service has been excellent. Katherine has colored my hair and done lash extensions for me. She is a lovely person who cares to do a great job and succeeds. I have what I think is problem hair. Fine and fly-away but lots of it. Straight. Doesn't hold a curl. I've mostly kept it long. It's been, well, just a hank of hair. But a friend introduced me to Paul Strom in Pacifica and he figured out how I could have a stylish look and still keep it sort of long (like my partner likes it). He cut and layered it so that it flatters my face and doesn't need a lot of care. Paul really listens and he really understands hair. I've seen him do wonders for others as well. He is an entertaining person with a good sense of humor. And, he is a musician, so the music on the system is always top notch. A lovely light and ambience in the salon. I started going to Paul Strom years ago when he was located on Sutter near Fillmore in San Francisco. My hair is sort of wavy and I wear it very short. No one else can cut my hair the way Paul does and I'm forever getting compliments on my cut. Even when I lived in Marin I'd drive to Pacifica to see Paul. Paul's also charming and funny, and he's never even once gossiped about other clients (darn), so your secrets are safe. A staff member always phones you the day before to remind you of your appointment. An added bonus is the location -- at Rockaway Beach there's a neat consignment shop (lots of jewelry, collectibles & antiques), trails for hiking, beautiful ocean views, several restaurants, and even a Segway business offering tours. Once you're in Pacifica it's an easy drive over Devil's Slide to Half Moon Bay. (On the way to HMB, be sure to stop at Barbara's Fish Trap near the harbor, El Granada, for the best fish 'n chips in the state). My haircut days are always mini vacations. read more

I use Patrick Shreve at the Paul Strom Salon - he is really super with color and does a great cut. LOVE the location right on the water - just driving there starts to relax me along Hwy 1. Patrick has a great eye for matching color to your skintone and knowing how the color will look once appled to the color you already have. He gives personalized service at a competitive price. My cut is pretty conventional, but I have seen other clients that have more color contrast and "edgy" cuts. read more

I agree with Rebecca W. Patrick Shreve is a terrible hair cutter!! I usually go to Paul Strom, but once when he was out, I had Patrick do my hair and was shocked at how he disregards what the customer wants. . My friends and family agreed it was the most unflattering cut I had ever had (I usually get lots of compliments on my hair). I have never gone back to Patrick but do go to Paul Strom, who is the opposite of Patrick: patient, low key and listens to the customers. When I am having my hair done by Paul, I observe Patrick being very condecsending to female customers. He seems very scattered and hyper active, like he just can't focus on what he is doing. read more

one word: AMAZING! today i had my first appointment with maureen and she was great! she was very friendly and inviting. it was very easy to talk with her which made the whole experience much more fun. i had a certain idea in my head for my hair which i wanted and she did a great job materializing it! i showed her a picture and my hair looks a lot like it. she asked me what i wanted but i trusted her so i told her to just do whatever she thinks will look good and now i LOVE my hair! my hair was really long and hard to manage but now it's modern and super cute. the salon itself is also gorgeous! it's modern but comfortable and has a very friendly atmosphere. i will definitely be going back to maureen for my next haircut and maybe even try a new color! :D read more
