The whole experience with Aleen was awesome! If you're on the fence about coming, this is your sign to book your appointment! I booked this appointment a few weeks ago from Denver and Aleen was so responsive. She asked me to text her pictures of my hair and reference pictures for what I wanted prior so she could determine if my hair was even a right fit for a digital perm. There wasn't any parking in the lot and she paid for the meter in front of the salon for me! All the COVID protocols were followed and I felt very safe in there. The whole process took about 4 hours including a hair trim. I've never gotten a perm before and she walked me through the whole process and answered all my questions. Aleen got new rollers from Korea for a looser curl and it was exactly what I was looking for. Glad I could be the first to try them out! Aleen continues to amaze me. I am Asian with thick, frizzy and semi-wavy hair: As in helmet/George Washington level. My hair is so frizzy that people think it's damaged when it's not. So sad. Even after Aleen thins out my hair during my regular haircuts, I still need to blow dry and flat iron it every day and avoid moisture like the wicked witch. It takes me 45 minutes just to look presentable. I've always pined for a Japanese straight perm but avoided it due to the sheer cost in SF. One day, I just asked Aleen and I was surprised at how reasonable her shop is. I bit the bullet and scheduled my appointment. Each night before my perm, I would fantasize about running through a field with the wind blowing through my shiny, silky and straight tresses and me jumping up and doing splits midair..my appointment day couldn't come soon enough. I took a day off of work for my appointment and endured the 5-hour process. Luckily, I brought my laptop so the time just flew by. Aleen worked hard on my hair, explained each step to me and I watched as she meticulously addressed what seemed like each strand of my hair. At the end of the process, my hair was flatter than I have ever seen. I could not stop staring in the mirror and petting my hair!! But will it stay flat or revert back to George Washington after I shampoo it? Aleen told me not to wash or get my hair wet for the first 24 hours. OK, I was actually really paranoid and didn't wash my hair for 4 days (pretty gross). Today I washed my hair and holy shikes...it is FLAT, silky and shiny!!! Cindy was so amazing! This was my first haircut after the pandemic started, so it had been well over a year since my last trim. I wanted to keep my hair long, but it was definitely more important to get it healthy again. Cindy showed me how much she would cut off beforehand, and it turned out exactly as I'd hoped! I love my long layers!! The salon's safety protocols are great -- they ask you to let them know when you arrive so that they can sanitize everything before you even enter. They also take your temperature, and of course everyone keeps their masks on at all times. Parking was a little difficult, but only because Washington St was blocked off for street repairs! Cindy mentioned that there's normally street parking right in front of the salon. Overall a great experience - would highly recommend!! read more

Found her through Aleen on Yelp and I am soooo happy I now have a local go to person for hair! If you're looking for someone that can handle thick Asian girl hair Cindy is it! She's easy to chat with and scheduling appointments through text with her is very convenient, she even sends you a reminder the day before the appointment. I just wanted to cut off some really dry bleached hair ends because it was getting to be too much to take care of. Cindy is very good about checking in with what you want before she starts cutting. We agreed to cut off 6+ inches of hair and add some long layers. My hair feels much lighter and she skillfully blended the long layers so it now looks like I have an ombre. I scheduled an appointment for Japanese Hair Straightening a month ago. The whole process took about 5 hours. Aleen was very informative about the whole process and explained every step. I also learned alot about how to keep my hair healthy. She also gave very honest advice on my hair and gave it a trim to fix the shape cuz the last stylist that did my hair messed it up. This is actually a review from a couple months ago, but my hair is all black and I wanted something new done to my hair (basically I wanted to go blonde) I decided to text Aleen and I showed her the new hair color I wanted and she apologized saying she couldn't help me. So, I tried texting her back asking if she could do a different hair color on me (this time just light brown) and she just completely ignored my text and never responded to me. I understand it's hard to go from black to blonde in just one session, but she didn't have to completely turn me down and just not respond to me anymore when I tried asking to get my hair done as a different hair color. This review is for the amazing Cindy. After researching several salons and going through countless customer photos of salons' balayages, Cindy seemed like the perfect stylist to go to for my first time coloring my hair. I texted with Cindy sending her photos of what I wanted (Asian hair and wanted a more subtle balayage with dark brown and no blond) and we set up my appointment. Because I wanted my color to remain pretty dark, she recommended not doing bleach but instead using a very light brown dye on my hair to achieve the dark brown I wanted. I trusted her completely. Watching her work exhausted me, she is SO detailed! She absolutely listened when I said I still wanted a good portion of my black hair to show through as well. Cindy was also so sweet, hilarious, kind, and easy to talk to during my almost three hours with her. It is extremely important for a salon to know what they are doing. I desperately want to get my digital waves for months but didn't know the stipulation prior to getting my perm. I met Aleen in 2011 for a digital perm. I have went through many changes. I now have an A-Line cut but had her style my hair when it was long, med and short.
