Can I get a Hallelujah!!! 5 stars is correct! So glad I came here to get my hair done. I bookmarked this place a few months ago before I came to live in Pacifica and so glad I did. I saw the 5 star reviews and decided to roll with the rest. I'm so relieved that this salon worked out for me. If you've read my recent review about another salon I went to in Dublin you'll see why Avani salon was a breath of fresh air for me. I made an appointment on a friday and so excited they could fit me into their busy schedule. I was told over the phone that Debbie would be the one cutting my hair. I came in took a seat and I was asked by one of the stylist if I wanted some hot tea. From the start I'd say what a way to make you feel welcome. I didn't take her up on the tea, but was glad she offered. I told Debbie what I wanted and she did exactly what I asked for! Wow! It's was a miracle! Nothing lost in translation and I think I was done in less than 40 minutes. I asked for a straight cut about 3 inches and a shampoo, that's it. Overall this place is great and I'm so glad I hit the jackpot and I can't wait to come back. Debbie was quick, efficient and friendly. Since I was new to the area she gave me some tips on places to try out and I had a great time getting to know her. In a nutshell I highly highly recommend anyone that hasn't tried Avani Salon to come on down and give it a whirl, because I'm sure you'll get exactly what you ask for. Kris is the best! I am Mexican so I have SO MUCH HAIR! It's really hard to find somebody that can work with my hair. I wanted to get some caramel highlights for a while but I was scared of ruining my hair. When I showed Kris what I wanted she immediately started mixing the dye and getting the foil. Well, three and half hours later, my hair was done. She did an awesome job! The hair came out better than the picture I brought and my hair is so soft and shinny. Kris goes out of her way to stock products that are safe and not full of nasty chemicals. Wow, this is an amazing salon. I my hair cut by Gina along with a color treatment and my hair looks great. Gina take great pride in finding out exactly what her the client is requesting. Gina has cut my daughter's hair for awhile and we've always been pleased. Then to top of everything I gave myself a treat to a swedish massage by Monica. The massage was very relaxing. Not impressed. I was barely greeted when I walked in the door. Sat there for 10 minutes, with an appt, but yet Kris acted confused to see a client waiting for her to finish up. I just wanted a trim with layers. The layering around my face was completely off, the left side of my head had no tapering of the length whatsoever. Really disappointed. It's a step up from Great Clips, but not a big step. She took about 20 minutes to cut my long hair. I hate to leave a bad review, but I really don't get the 5 star ratings everyone is leaving. I've had really great experiences at this salon. The staff is not pretentious and, in my experience, they know what they are doing. Top things you want in a hair salon! Couple of things I appreciated: Easy to call and make appointments. They do respond to messages, so if you don't get someone on the line, just leave a message. I have a sensitive scalp/hair, so I need to bring my own shampoo/styling products, and my stylist was super accommodating to these needs. And most importantly, Kristin KNOWS HOW TO TRIM BANGS. For anyone who has suffered through terrible trim jobs that make them want to hide under the bed, do yourself a favor and ask for Kristin. Great work, every time. Super convenient location, especially if you live in Pacifica. I used to drag myself to a salon in downtown SF, but had equal (if not better) experiences at Avani. I've only gotten cuts here, can't speak in regards to highlights or dye jobs, but I highly recommend the cuts and trims. read more

I don't get a chance to pamper myself much, but when I do Avani Salon and Spa is where I am. When I am there, I know I can relax. The atmosphere is extremely soothing and just what I need when I am there. Jill has been my esthetician for almost 5 years. Jill always remembers exactly what I want. Very professional and relaxing. I would never go anywhere else for my waxing needs! Kris is my hair stylist and has never let me down. I have a busy life with my baby so my schedule is very tight, but Kris always seems to get me in right when I need to. This review is for Jill, Avani Salon's esthetician. All I can say is that she did a phenomenal job. She asked me a bunch of questions regarding my skin, etc, to make sure the facial met my needs. She gave me the collagen facial and chocolate body treatment. Both were amazing. I told her I was more there for deep exfoliation than relaxation. Jill definitely paid attention to the areas on my face that needed deep cleansing the most. I left with my skin feeling refreshed. I was kind of freaked when we moved to the coast because I'd have to find a new stylist. My hair is a little, shall we say, idiosyncratic, so it often takes a stylist a while to get the hang of it. I Had been with the same stylist for 5 good years then a very difficult last year...My hair was a mess, I stopped looking in the mirror at it, and often wore a hat to cover it up. I have been here twice. My first experience was pretty good. Decent cut and color, but the hairdresser missed some spots that my friends noticed. That was kind of embarrassing. After my second experience, I won't be returning. I asked for my hair to be dyed red. After only a month, the color had COMPLETELY washed out. What kind of permanent hair dye washes out that fast? I went to another hair dresser to get it re-done and it was so bad she didn't even believe me when I told her it was dyed very recently. She informed me that there was no way a permanent dye was used on my hair. Not cool. Sadly, I have had two sub-par experiences and I can't justify coming here when there are so many other great salons in the area. read more

I usually got my hair cut at super cuts, until I needed a last minute, professional looking cut. (Keep in mind I don't speak...girly). They were able to understand what I was trying to go for, and they gave me a gorgeous cut! I don't remember who cut my hair, but they are both SO nice. I have been on the quest to find a new stylist for the past 3+ years after my previous long-time stylist (who I completely adored) retired. After a series of disappointing trials, I think I have finally found the right place! Kris has cut and colored my hair twice now, and I am very satisfied with the results. The first visit, I was ready to go SHORT. I brought in a few pictures, and she was able to achieve the look I was aiming for, and cut my hair down gradually. After moving from The City, I was worried about finding a quality hairdresser in sleepy Pacifica, but those fears were clearly misdirected. Instead, I have discovered a place that is just as nice and clean as any place in The City, and without any attitude or need to shell out the big bucks. :) read more

Kris is amazing! I've been going to her since I moved to Pacifica in June 2013. I'm terrible at communicating what I want, so I always take a picture. When I go home, my hair looks exactly the way I want. Even better, when I told her I wanted layers and to use a color she thought would look good, I got the best hair style yet. I had to take a few minutes to let everyone know about the amazing facial I got today at the new Rockaway Beach Spa, Avani. Being 9 months pregnant, I thought I needed to pamper myself a little bit...but I received way more than a little pampering! For starters, I was offered organic green tea with chocolate covered blueberries...YUMMY!! Then, I received the chocolate hydrating facial...it was simply AMAZING! The chocolate aroma along with the facial massage made me think I was in heaven. I've received many facials from several different spas and I have to say, I am so thankful that I have this little oasis right in my neighborhood. I went to Kris and she was AmAzInG!!!!! she uses organic products which are less damaging to your hair. I went in and my hair was SO damaged from coloring and chlorine and when I left it was silky, smooth and looked SO much healthier and better.
