I've been going here for a few years mostly because it's so close to home. I went to Jeanette for a pixie cut, and brought four pictures with me to show what I was going for. I did not get a pixie, I left with the Kris Jenner. I've told a couple people that I told her I wanted a pixie cut, every single one responded "that's not a pixie" including my boyfriend who doesn't know much about hair. The entire appointment she was focused on someone else who came in and were discussing some side business or something, very rude. She was very rough with me, barely spoke to me and definitely didn't listen. I came in with a faux hawk her daughter gave me a few months back that had grown out but I damaged my hair bleaching it so I wanted the pixie to get rid of the damage. I even had to say that I wanted all the hair in the back and on the sides the same length, which should've been implied since that's the definition of "pixie". She started trimming the faux hawk instead of cutting it off, then only trimmed around one ear assuming I'd wear the hair to the one side thought I normally part on the opposite side (never asked where I part my hair, which I have always been asked whenever getting a haircut, and didn't bother to trim around the other ear because of this). Also with a pixie, and having mentioned a few times I wanted everything the same length, I shouldn't have to worry about only one ear getting cleaned up. Not to mention the very choppy layers. I had to schedule an appointment somewhere else to fix this. Very disappointed. Won't be coming back. read more

Went in for a color touch up and at first the stylist had no idea how to achieve my color without bleaching. No, no bleach, just single process. Fine. Then was talked into adding highlights to my already very processed hair. "It'll add some depth, your color is flat". Well, ok, if you really really think so. Needless, to say I had frizz galore and breakage for months after. More kink and fried looking hair than I could shake a stick at. The next stylist I went to following this couldn't believe that anyone would actually suggest highlighting already very lightened and fine blond hair. And at $130 + for the privilege, I think I can find better ways of dropping such coin without hair breaking off. Maybe their cuts are better than their color services? read more

Aimee Fabbri - Esthetician I've come to Aimee for waxing and facials, and swear by her and recommend all of my friends. Aimee was really patient with me while waxing. She was quick and it was relatively painless, well as painless as it can be. She knows which wax works best for certain areas, etc. I moved to NY and can no longer go to Aimee, but have called her when I had wax stuck and other random problems to get her advice on what to do/what to use to get it out. Where else can you get your beauty and surf at the same location, I ask you? I was first attracted by the mineral makeup sign in the window. I came in for a consultation with Aimee Fabbri and love the Bare Minerals line she uses. Her suggestions for color are always right on. My mom and I both have sensitive skin, so I brought my mom down to Pacifica during her latest visit to SF and now she is into Bare Minerals, too, plus Aimee waxed her eyebrows and she looked 10 years younger! So now Aimee is my aesthetician, too. She does dermabrasion, waxing, you name it, and is also a certified massage therapist. Awesome combo, you couldn't meet a nicer person. Amazing place. Had a last minute need for hairstyling (going to take a photo with my favorite celebrity) and fortunately for me Jeanette had a cancellation. She did an AMAZING job on my hair and it wasn't too expensive. Plus, they have a lot of cool stuff there like feathers for the hair, foot jewelry and glitter. Definitely my kind of place. This is Kane's wife. We share a Yelp account. :) I have ultra-fine, wavy, medium brown hair that is wonderfully soft to the touch but has no other redeemable qualities. Most stylists find it extremely hard to cut evenly, let alone stylishly. I also discovered, through this salon, actually, that in addition to being hard to cut, my hair is hard to dye and keep from fading, so I've given up trying to do much with it and pretty much represent the typical 20-something who just wants a good haircut without any special services or frills. Luckily, I discovered Sue about six haircuts ago. Sue has really fine hair too, so she naturally knows a lot about it! She has given me consistently cute, on-trend short cuts that don't need too much styling. She's really fun and interesting to talk to, too! Love this place! The mother and daughter are booth very friendly and do a great job cutting hair. I had my hair cut by them 3 times and each time they did an amazing job. They actually listen to what you want done to your hair and will not over cut. The salon is clean and cute and is priced very fair for what they do during their cut. They also have great hair products. I definitely recommend coming here. read more

My sister and I decided to try a new hair salon...bad idea! I couldn't afford my usual stylist so i went with something more afordable at obsessions. The woman that cut both my hair and my sisters messed up on both! this is about a month ago I have still not worn my hair down. I keep it up in a pony tail because the cut is a combination of a bob and a flipped out hairstyle. I know sounds like a clash of styles, because it is. The salon is cute and everyone is friendly but i would never reccomend this salon if you want something hip to the times. I wish i remembered her name but she did not know what she was doing what so ever. As for my sister she cut her bangs all wrong sent my sister home crying. I shouldn't have let her get her hair cut after i saw how awful mine had turned out. read more

I have been going to Obsessions for almost 9 years and Jeanette the owner is my lady, she took my over processed colored "Orange" hair and turned it into a beautiful shiny, silky, smooth locks. She and her staff are all wonderful. Aimee takes care of my facial and waxing needs. Sue and Melinda are also there to help me in a pinch whenever I need a quick party up-do and Jeanette is booked. (I don't always plan ahead). But whatever I need they are always there for me. I just recently tried the Brazilian Blowout and love it! No more hot iron needed, just a quick blow dry with a round brush and my hair looks fantastic! read more

I am very disappointed, I made a appointment for a haircut after yelping and seeing they have 4 1/2 stars. All I wanted was a trim to start growing out my layers. She barely had time to dry and style my hair due to booking two clients at the same time. When I got home and started to straighten my hair and style it how I would on a Daly basis I realized that the back is so uneven I can't even wear it down. I know have to go pay elsewhere to fix such a horrible haircut. Probably one of the worst haircuts I've ever received. read more

I'm really picky about stylists. The owner of this place is absolutely amazing. Give her creative license and let her fly. You'll come out a new woman and fall in love with yourself. I have wanted to have purple in my hair for years. I have tried it once before a few years ago with another stylist and it just didn't work. And it seemed like everyone else I talked to was either scared or stumped and gave me only bleaching options because of my very dark hair. I walked in to Obsessions and told Jeannette what I wanted to do. She not only totally got what I was going for but created her own eggplant/violet concoction and it looks amazing! She gave me a purple glow that is gorgeous. It's very subtle indoors but when I'm outside (especially in the sun) it just glows! Plus, she gave me a great haircut to boot! I have been coming to Obsessions since 2003, when I lived in Pacifica. I have lived in Belmont since 2004, but refuse to go anywhere else! Jeanette is a miracle worker with hi-lites and cuts. I have very difficult, fine hair, and I leave here looking wonderful! (And the look lasts!) I also have such a great time every time I come for an appointment! The ladies are super nice and friendly. Lots of laughter and warmth. Molly is also very nice and personable. I watched her today as she related so well with a teenage guy, and gave him a great haircut!
