This review is specifically for their remediation work as we used a different GC for the reconstruction work. A 60 foot tree fell on our house NYE and the insurance company sent Paul Davis Restoration. I had low expectations for a franchise operation connected with insurance, but they were ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL from start to finish. Nicole managed our claim and is kind, super responsive, and does a great job following up. Nate and Bobby are hard working, polite, cheerful young men who always wear shoe covers inside. After the initial demo, they returned and spent hours in the dark and rain at the start of another storm disconnecting the remains of our demolished pergola from the house so it wouldn't catch wind and rip off our living room wall. The insurance company's reconstruction estimates were ridiculously low, and with the owner Joseph's help, it went up by $45k (to where it should have been to begin with). The insurance company was a nightmare, and in the chaos and overwhelm, the staff at this Paul Davis truly sustained us. They are based out of Stockton, but cover the Sacramento Valley and into the Bay Area as well. read more

The restoration was not as organized as I would have expected! They were recommended by my insurance company and we were out of the home for 1 month. There was lots of fine micro dust left behind....I'm still seeing dust. I felt as if I was a general manager leading my project. I'm happy I suggested covering my items ahead of time. I would have liked if the cleaning crew was a bit more experienced......surface cleaning is not needed after a construction job it has to be a deep cleaning. We had water damage from an upstairs bathroom sink overflow that leaked into a closet and thru the living room ceiling downstairs. Paul Davis was chosen by our Ins Company and they responded right away on a weekend. The mitigation crew was kind and professional. We decided to use them for the restoration project as well. The only communication issues we had were with our Ins company which delayed start of work which finally was completed 12 weeks after the event. Once PDR sent their site supervisor out and the contract was signed,, work progressed very quckly and to our satisfaction. Kudos to the office manager, Nichole, to the supervisors, Matt & Ken, and to all of the workers we encountered. I can't remember all of their names but Sammy and Enrique were stand out employees. We were referred to Paul Davis by AAA agent and the experience ended in us pulling out of them doing any work because communication was so terrible. The mitigation team did a pretty good job besides leaving staples in our ceiling from the plastic they hung up (never got resolved or compensated for the paint I had to buy). Our first estimator,Michael, left the company about a month after he did our estimate and I had to call repeatedly to try and figure out why our project stalled. Luckily I had Michael's personal number and he finally texted me letting me know he was no longer with PD. I and to ask the AAA agent who has a relationship with PD to figure out what the hell was going on.Then Shaun was our second estimator/project manager and he was very communicative, unfortunately I heard he's left the company as well. The issues all seemed to stem from the lack of communication and understanding from Tina Jones who I guess has to coordinate everything. She wouldn't call us back after multiple messages. I would ask Shaun for an update and it was always some delay from Tina's side. She tried to send the same flooring company from a different city to come do an estimate after she already scheduled them months before and they had the estimate on hand. They were supposed to send someone to rebuild a cabinet and replace drywall but that didn't happen until I left several messages for Shaun and Tina. We opted to go for flooring that was more expensive than what AAA was offering so we had an amount that needed to be paid out of pocket but it took them months to figure out what that figure was. The out of pocket cost was first quoted at around $8k then somehow jumped up to $22k with little explanation besides someone gave Shaun bad information. After the frustration of trying to communicate with PD for months (project started in January, pulled out of PD in June) I contacted our AAA agent to review their esti mate line by line. Come to find out after really getting into it they had charged and collected thousands of dollars for work not performed. At this point I was done and we decided to not work with PD any longer. It took our agent until the end of July fighting with them about all things they were paid for but did not do to get them to return funds. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. If you do decide toove forward with them you must review their estimate line by line, understand it, and take photos of what work gets performed to protect yourself from the mess we went through. I see a lot of decent reviews on here and comments from "new owner" Paul about how he's taken over and all the employees people have complained about are gone. I sure hope Tina is added to that list. read more

I simply cannot recommend Paul Davis due to my experience with Joe. We had water damage and our insurer defaulted to Paul Davis as our contractor. Joe was quick to sign. But when the job changed and probably for less money, I noticed that there was no longer any interest from Joe to work on my claim. That would be fine. But instead of letting me know, he simply didn't sign the new estimate leaving us in limbo for nearly a month. I had to go through the process and hassle of going through my insurer a second time to find a new contractor. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Took near 5 months to complete a hall guest bathroom. Because of PD employee problems and turnaround. We hired them through our insurance company and we were treated poorly by Nichole, she/no one answered our calls stating they had an answering service. No answering service ever answered. The wrong size bathtub was "cemented" in BEFORE they informed us it was wrong size. I have date stamped docs to prove this. , they did not know themselves until they tried installing the "right" size backsplash and it did not fit. AFTER TUB WAS CEMENTED IN. They also tried giving us a plastic backsplash when we had Onyx originally. Grout was so poorly done there were little reservoirs between tiles, then they "added" more grout! I was then told by another contractor that it would not hold up. Sink counter was stained, the plumbing pipes were not screwed down so AFTER the onyx was cemented in, they had to then cut a hole in my hallway wall just to put 6 screws to hold the pipes in place. My water spout was dancing all over the place. My massive tempered glass mirror was broken when demo was being done. The problems go on and on compounding with the employee turnaround that affected my family adversely. Paul Davis employee "Tina" walked out of her position at PD, this was our contact at PD, and no one called us for near two weeks. My insurance adjuster Carmisha is still adjuster. I had grandkids in my home which was so inconvenient and a hardship for all involved. Nichole also accused us of keeping money from them when in fact the check was to come from our insurance company. All in all I would NEVER use this company again nor would I recommended them to my enemy!! Beware!! read more

Paul Davis was called to mitigate a water leak under my house. They arrived unprepared--no sump pump!! The first thing you need! They turned the water back on that the plumber had turned off contributing to the leak!!! They then charged $70/hour to plug the pump into my electricity for 24 hours--$1659. Total bill: $2404. Will not work with me to remediate. Do not call!! read more

I would not recommend this company. They have very poor communication & very poor workmanship. We had a simple kitchen remodel due to water damage (new paint, countertops, backsplash, rebuilt island & sink.) We also had flooring installed throughout our entire house. Work was not done in consecutive days....there would sometimes be weeks in between jobs before workers would return. Painting in kitchen & adjacent room had to be repainted 3 times due to poor workmanship, trying to get workers scheduled to come out to finish the job was a nightmare. A job that could have taken just a few months took almost a year! Our water damage claim was on June 6, 2022 & the final touch up done by Paul Davis was performed on May 19, 2023. We had many times when they were scheduled to come, never showed up or called to let us know they weren't coming. Or, we had workers show up with no notice. Also had appointments cancelled with no notice. I would not recommend this company to anyone! read more

We suffered flooding from a burst water heater in mid-December. We had a restoration company in immediately to dry us out, take up flooring, remove walls and cabinets. Paul Davis came in after them to put everything back together. We are very happy with the work Paul Davis did. The workers were skilled and professional and courteous. Everything was repaired excellently. We actually like the reconstruction better than what was in place before. From the time the flooding occurred to the the time of job completion was about two and a half months. We wished it could have been done faster, but with the Christmas season in the midst of it, delays getting information from the insurance company, waiting for ordered materials to arrive, and scheduling our job among the many other jobs they had going, we really geel that it got done fairly quickly as compared to other accounts we've heard of people waiting five and six months. Based on our experience, we recommend Paul Davis of Central Valley. read more
