I found Dr. Uslan through my insurance website and upon verification by Yelp, decided to give him a try after I got tired of one of the big local practices continued to disappointment with their callousness and lack of attention to detail. I can say unequivocally that this is the best optometrist experience I have ever had. It felt personal. I am naturally uncomfortable in these situations, and the staff here put me at ease. Plus, I learned more about my eyes in one visit than I had in 20+ years of visiting eye doctors. That alone is awesome. But what I really wanted was to have someone there to help me pick out glasses and show me what to wear. I got that in spades, as the third pair I was handed were exactly what I wanted (and weren't $500 - their selection is great.) I love stylish older ladies who can tell me what would look good on me - they're never wrong. Bottom line, I love to be able to recommend something when someone asks "Anyone know a good _________?" I continue to be impressed with his expertise and his willingness and ability to explain vision issues. He took a great deal of care with my prescription and discussed a number of different correction options. I'm of an age where I worried about needing cataract surgery at some point, and I was pleased that not only could he explain the options and issues with this, he pulled out a chart that showed me what my lens looks like in comparison with the darkening age can bring. I saw him during the COVID times and I was impressed with what he did to ensure sanitation. He does seem to have an affinity for University of Indiana sports, but no one is perfect. read more

I am totally pleased with the care I've received from Dr. Uslan since first visiting his office a few weeks ago. A long time contact wearer, I've suffered intermittent but persistent eye problems over the last three years. I've been to eye doctors at four separate practices, but none have come anywhere close to properly diagnosing the problem. Dr. Uslan took the time to do a very thorough exam and to explain exactly what he saw happening in my eyes. Instead of just giving me an antibiotic, then slapping me in new contacts the following week, he really helped me understand what was happening, and why the contacts that I've been wearing for the last few years have caused and then exacerbated the problem. He seemed genuinely interested in my well-being, rather than just my insurance dollars, which is completely the opposite of my last experience with an eye doctor. Once my eye problems cleared up, he fitted me with new contacts and glasses, recommending that I order the full year of contacts because if I have to make a change - as I did when I started seeing him - he will exchange the unused lenses. That's more than I can say for Lens.com or any other place where I've bought contacts. There's a reason this guy has been in practice for 38 years. My fiance has subsequently been in to see him, and came home with very warm and positive things to say. I'm glad to have found such a great physician on the first try! read more

Dr. Uslan is by far the best doctor I've seen for my eyes. He spends a great deal of time dialing in the right prescription, talking about eye health, and explaining the science behind what he's thinking. Not only that, but he's incredibly gregarious. He makes you feel like a friend! For my first visit, I went to get new glasses. His wife was an excellent help in picking out a new pair of frames. You know someone is being honest when they tell you that over half the frames you try on don't look good. That kind of honesty is needed in that kind of situation! I'm extremely happy with the frames I eventually bought. I went in for another visit to get contacts. I could tell that the prescription/comfort wasn't quite right, and Dr. Uslan continued to make adjustments based on my feedback. I saw him three more time (free of charge!) until I knew what I was wearing was perfect. I would recommend their services to anyone. They provide a truly exceptional experience. read more

I have really hard to fit eye balls, as far as contacts go. I've tried over 3-4 times to get the right set over the course of the last 15 years and they have all given me headaches. (When I was a teenager, the places I went to told me it was normal so that they didn't have to fit me multiple sets and use up their time or money. I didn't know better so I thought migraines were normal and just gave up.) Dr. Uslan has been the only doctor who has been able to fit me with the right pair! Turns out my astigmatism was the trouble and could not be corrected by simply increasing the prescription strength. He went through maybe 5-6 kinds of contacts before we got to the right prescription (in power AND astigmatism) and now I can wear contacts while I do sports without having the world spin! Dr. Uslan is an excellent doctor! He's also knowledgeable and gives fairly good explanations if you ask. Just a few side comments: He and his wife, Georgia, own the business and have been doing that for a long time. Because of the excellent fitting and medical service, I am willing to forgive how abrupt they are on the phone, and sometimes in person (almost to the point of rudeness). Just don't catch them at a bad moment and be very brief/succinct about what you want if you are calling on the phone, or you might be chewed out. read more

Didn't even end up making the appointment... that was the worst customer experience I've ever had with a receptionist in my entire life. I called expecting to be greeted warmly and the receptionist didn't even ask for any information or my name or anything! She just threw out a date and time and told me to be there with out even knowing what I needed or asking when I was available. Then, I was told that they don't take cards and that I should bring a check. I don't even remember the last time I ever wrote a check, what year is this place stuck in? I wish I had gotten the chance to meet Dr. Uslan, the other reviews made them seem amazing but I would suggest they get a different receptionist because I will not be going to this place for that reason alone. I would rather meet with a different Dr. than have to sit in a waiting room with this receptionist. She was rude, cold, and will surely drive Dr. Uslan's office to the ground. read more

Dr. Uslan has been in the field for 35+ years and it shows in the way he interacts with people. He is consistently personable and professional. Dr. Uslan has been the only Optometrist I will see (pun intended). He has been nothing short of amazing for the twenty plus years he has cared for my families vision care needs. Dr. Uslan is consistently personable, professional and exceptionally talented. His Office Manager extraordinaire, Georgia, greets us with a smile and exhibits' customer service and an enthusiasm that is always warm and inviting. I walked in off the street with my contact in my hand... Not even a patient there. They took me in the back and let me use solution and a mirror and then sent me off with a kit with solution and a case. Such amazingly nice people! Highly recommend!! read more

Dr. Uslan is clearly involved in this practice because he cares about his patients. He is professional, personable, and has time to chat and talk about things. He also was a HUGE assistance helping me with my insurance company - he made sure I got the result and coverage I needed, not them. You can tell in the waiting room some of his patients are generations of families. He is good at his job, people first, and a great doctor. I would recommend him to anyone! read more

Don't get me wrong, I love Dr. Uslan. He is incredibly nice and friendly. I will keep going to him, but I have a huge problem with how nasty his wife/receptionist, Georgia, is when she answers the phone. The first time I called, I almost did not want to make an appointment because she was so rude! She isn't like that in person, so I don't really understand why this happens, but she really should think about being nicer to customers who are calling in. read more

picked up glasses over a month ago. prescription/fit still incorrect and i've gone in twice to have them fitted properly. promptly told no, don't bother taking off your contacts, we don't need to check your vision with the glasses on, i can adjust them while you stand in my waiting area with your eyes. closed. have had them 'adjusted' twice that way and am getting the feeling there is no interest to get my order correct, just to rush me out the door. read more

I tried Dr Uslan based on a personal recommendation and online reviews. I did not have a positive experience. His receptionist is incredibly rude, and his hours make it very difficult to receive good care. (They are not open weekends, Wednesdays, or any day after 5PM. On Fridays they close at 4:30PM). Plus, he did not help me find comfortable contacts (maybe this is just my bad luck, but it makes me even more frustrated with the crap I had to go through, taking time off work etc, all for nothing.) I recommend him only if you have ample free time to work with him through multiple fittings over the course of a few months. read more

Dr Uslan found contacts that I can actually tolerate, against all odds! He very patiently let me test out multiple pairs of contacts for a few days each, over several weeks. He could have just told me I was a poor candidate for contacts after the first few pairs and given up, but he went above and beyond and found a pair that is extremely comfortable.
