I've been going to get my eyes checked to see what's wrong with them for over a year. My doctor had me take serval different eyedrops and different medications and even said I had rosacea and made me take a prescription pill for it. I took every prescription they told me to take. And I went every 2-3 months and almost every time I went they had me on a new prescription. My doctor said my eyes were getting better so he took me off all of them a day or two after I get off the prescriptions my eyes are back to being bloodshot red and super irritated nothing changed. I told my doctor that I felt like nothing was actually helping my eyes he said he understood and It's been over a year almost two now and they haven't done anything for me they wasted my time and so much money. Huron Ophthy (HO) completed my eye exam and left HO with a new eye prescription. I did not think the exam presented me with clear and crisp sight when I mentioned it. After the exam, I ordered new glasses (regular & sunglasses) from a lab I've worked with and provides quality products (glasses when check are 100% of prescription). Like many others, I've experienced eye practices charging a significant amount of money for glasses. My wife had her eye exam at HO last year and looked at glasses in the HO shop. The verbal quote provided was very expensive. She purchased a similar pair from the lab I've used for less than one-third of the HO cost and they work perfectly. My glasses arrived and as soon as i tried them on I saw double vision & blurriness. I called HO, they rescheduled me for an exam redo with their "redo" optometrist, Dr. Lambert and determined that the initial prescription was significantly off! I returned the glasses to the lab to have new lenses installed using the corrected HO prescription, at my expense of approximately $300 (shipping and new lenses). I spoke with HO and asked them for a reasonable remedy. Bottom line from HO, now owned by a private equity group as I understand it, they would not reimburse me for the $300 additional out of pocket cost. They only offered to credit my $55 refractory fee. They did offer to replace the lenses using their lab, but that was not feasible as I explained to the HO rep because it would invalidate the warranty, the lab was already promptly working on the replacements, it would require me to spend more money and time to have them returned to me and, in the bigger picture, HO was only deflecting from the fact that HO made a mistake in their initial prescription and was not taking responsibility nor accountability for it. my 1st time here for an eye exam. they are situated in the St.Joseph Mercy Hospital complex but totally stand alone unit. 4 Handicapped spots all to the side filled up but if you park across from the entrance door not too far a walk. Enter the place and one is greeted by 4 desks where 2 people are working at 13:30 hrs on a Tues checking patients in. My appt was for 14:00 so far still waiting to be called. read more

While the same condition was identified, the explanation I received was incredibly thorough and questions were not only OK but encouraged. The steps I can take to relieve symptoms and protect my eyesight given the condition were also clear and comprehensive. This place is very professionally and friendly. Dr. Katz is efficient and easy to understand. I go there for treatment of glaucoma. I just had cataract surgery and the one eye now sees much better. It's only been a day or two but I could read the 20/20 line on eye chart and have very little swelling. I am scheduled for eye two in December. Since I do have glaucoma a stent was also inserted to help control the glaucoma. Each person I have met at this medical clinic has been friendly and patient and accommodating. Excellent service had a referral from my Primary Care Doctor was seen in a timely order. Doctor checked the pressure in my eye. Prescribed eye drops and I was told to come back in a week or sooner if my eye doesn't get better. read more

As a healthcare provider, I have typically referred my own patients seeking ophthalmic care to Huron Ophthalmology. I recently setup an appointment for my husband as a new patient. I provided them complete information including insurance contract numbers over the phone. They said that insurance coverage was not a problem. He arrived at the appointment to be told he would have to pay out of pocket and that they did not participate with our insurance. When he asked why we weren't informed ahead of time, they said "we tried to call but no one answered, so we hung up." Rather unprofessional. I went to Huron Ophthalmology for a diabetic retinopathy exam as my eyesight was not very good for the last three months. Scheduling the appointment was not a problem and got in very quickly. I saw Dr. Barry Fuller and come to find out the reason for my poor vision. I had cataracts!! I had no idea someone my age (48) could get cataracts but apparently some of the prescription drugs I'm on can cause this. Surgery was scheduled very quickly ( I was lucky there was a cancellation). The actual surgery only took about 15 minutes and what a difference!!! It's like I can see clearly for the first time!! I couldn't be happier. The day after I went for my post-op exam and Dr. Fuller was very pleased with the way everything looked and I scheduled my other eye for the near future. I can't wait for the surgery on my other eye!!! The procedure is painless and afterwards very little soreness. I would recommend highly!!!!! read more

I have been treated by Dr. Kehn for years for dry eyes and then cataracts. He did surgery on me and my results have been perfect. The staff is always pleasant and efficient. Especially the lady who scheduled my surgery (sorry I cannot remember her name). Could not be more pleased with the treatment and care I get at their office. I am also aware that all of the doctors in the practice have an outstanding reputation as quality opthamologists and surgeons.
