They run pretty efficiently (from our family visits) and for my annual eye exam, I was done in about 30 mins. Dilation can still be done but with my busy schedule, I opt for the Optomap imaging and pay a bit more (~$25) as getting dilated & dealing with it all day is no longer doable. We needed to get some prescription sports sunglasses for the runner in the family. They carried a few of the Prescription Oakley of interest so it was good to go in and physically try them on (unlike online). To be clear, they were not cheap, but we reviewed all the options (tint color, reflection, etc...) and I have to admit, they look pretty sweet!!

Got my two pairs of reading glasses and couldn't see a think out of them. Everything was double vision. My sunglasses were a blur. We back for a second vision and got the prescription tweeted. Went back to Costco and had the glass remade. The results were the same. The optometrist told me that the sunglass would only have a very small window were the vision would be correct. Great, after I told her they were for golfing. Out $150.00 for sunglass that don't help. Out $300.00 on reading glass that don't help. Beware!!!

She told me that I had severely dry eyes and I'd have to come back after not wearing glasses and using drops for a week. She also said I have glaucoma and got me a referral for a consult. THEN she said that if I get floaters I need to call 911 immediately and when I asked why she said it's because my retina detached. She also said I have high cholesterol (from my eyes???). All of this was said with drama and also rudeness. For the record, I am 41. Anyway, went back a week later (wore my contacts all week (no I didn't listen) and she said my eyes look MUCH better (uh ok) and she released my new contact prescription from being held hostage. That day I had to wait over an hour for her to see me. Yesterday, I went to the glaucoma consult. The PA was laughing when she got the image results because apparently they get this doctor's wacky consults all the time. My eyes are fine. There is no glaucoma (like at all...not even borderline). There is no reason to be worried about my retina detaching. Anyway, I am a very good judge of character and thought this doc was wrong from the get-go (although, I will admit I just found out my cholesterol is in fact borderline high), so I didn't freak out about any of this. I can only imagine she's going to scare the crap out of someone though and cause anxiety and panic! I will be finding a new eye doc asap and if you're looking for a new doc, don't go here.

Yesterday my daughter saw the woman doctor and was told the same thing. High cholesterol and her retina's were detaching and to call 911 if she started seeing flashing lights. My daughter, who is 31 very fit and eats healthy, called me in tears. Scared to death that she was going to lose her eyesight. What is going on in that office? When I first walked into Sonoran Desert Eye Center I was greeted by a friendly staff member who was smiling and happy. She handed me a clipboard with a bunch of forms to fill out, which I completed and handed to a different lady at the front desk who was also super friendly. Shortly after that I was greeted by Dr. Quaranta, who was extremely nice. Dr. Quaranta took me to one of the exam room and performed a VERY thorough exam snd I felt his equipment was modern and it almost felt new. You know how sometimes when you go to the eye doctor and they try the different lenses and it's hard to pick one? Not here, there was a clear difference between the lenses and I feel confident he got the prescription right. He was also super knowledgeable and explained everything. I like doctors who will take the time to explain things. Dr. Quaranta's assistant was also super awesome. She also took the time to explain everything to me and pointed different parts of the eye. I learned that the optic nerve is composed of a disc and a cup, so now I'll be able to win trivia night! The staff was definitely doing their part to stop the spread of covid 19 including wiping everything down, sanitizing equipment and wearing masks. Plus they had the best smelling hand sanitizer ever. The optician Katie was so patient with me while I tried on like 100 different pairs of glasses and we wound up finding a pair that I liked that wasn't too badly priced. Can't wait for them to come in! She was super knowledgeable and wasn't afraid to share her opinion, which I really liked. So happy I found this place on Yelp!
