This is THE pizza on the west side! They have perfected sourdough crust, soft and structured, with a little tang. It's an order at the counter spot, sometimes there's a wait - for best pizza in town. You came here for a little slower pace than the mainland, chill out & wait for it, do some deep breathing or go check out Uila Records, next door. Sometimes they are jamming busy and focused - don't expect them to be sugar sweet - customer always right. Expect really good pizza with really good ingredients and work out your need for them to be really really nice to you in therapy ;) read more

The good - Really great pizza! The Bad, order was completely wrong. Tried to place on-line order but they had it turned off. Unfortunately, despite describing the order twice the pizza came topped complete wrong. Oh well, the Italian sandwich was the best!Have them repeat the order back to you to be sure. read more

Gosh, their veggie pesto sourdough pizza is hand down one of the tastiest slices I have eaten. Quick service . They bring out new ones and they get sold out in less than 10 mins. The man at the counter was super helpful. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Loved this place!! read more

This sourdough pizza was great. It was almost like a New York pizza. I had a piece of pepperoni and a piece of the vegetarian unfortunately, I always forget to take pictures until after the fact it was done perfectly. read more

We were hoping to get some of James Angelo's pizza but alas, he was closed around the holiday. That led us here while in Waimea. Cute little spot in the same lot of Merriman's with a decent amount of parking. Sourdough pizza crust, which I think was a first for me, but pretty good! We shared a slice with pepperoni and pineapple and an Italian deli sandwich. The pizza was good, fresh, and probably would give it 4 stars. The sandwich was just okay, so more like a 3. They also had tacos that looked pretty good on the menu so if I came back I may try that next time. It's counter service and not table service, but it was efficient and friendly. Maybe more like a 3.5 but I will round up. Nice find in Waimea and worth a stop for some casual fare. read more

One of the best pizzas I have had. However the Italian sandwich and salad dressing on the salad were not so good. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was thin crust and the top was not dripping oil! That's how you know it's good. It was foldable, like a NY style pie. So good! Grabbed a salad from the cold case to get some greens in my system and that was the most sour Italian (or whatever kind of vinaigrette it was) dressing ever. I did not enjoy that, it was way too tart for my taste buds. The Italian sandwich was extremely salty. It would have been ok if the meats were not so overpowering. I like how the bread was homemade. We ended with the cream cheese brownie and it was ok...I would have liked it more on the chocolate side because it had a lot of cream cheese. read more

I have patronized this place at least once a month since they opened 15 years ago. Quality and service have diminished greatly in the past year. On three seperate occasions, they got the order worng and sent me home with meat pizzas, when I specifically ordered half vegetarian. I have been vegetarian since the age of 12, so 56 years. Inedible to me x 3. No apologies or refunds, just attitude every time. Most recently, I arrived to pick up a pizza ordered sometime earlier that day and it found it had not been placed in the oven. After a 12-hour shift in psychiatry, I had no wish to wait around. I canceled the order and requested a refund. I was told it would be credited to my card the following day. Still no refund by Saturday, so I dropped in. Waited in line to request the refund. Instead of the promised refund, the prep cook (not the manager) handed me a gift card, which I do not want and will likely never use. He walked away , gave no explanation, did not apologize or acknowledge the bad behavior. Before entering psychiatry 30 years ago, I was a repsected chef on the central California coast for years. We never gave customers a hard time and sour attitude for our mistakes, nor their's, and made very effort to be hospitable. Not this place. No aloha. read more

Two haoles staying in the resort area went in search of non-resort food (also can someone clarify for me if Latinos are still considered haoles? Just wondering). This pizza was great. A bit of a drive from the Hilton but totally worth it. It's a small place, but the pizza was great as was the service. Would recommend if you're tired of eating the resort food read more

This was our first time wandering into this pizzeria and it's in an adorable little plaza! There's a cool, survival/camping store in the front attached to a coin coffee shop with delicious pastries! Look for my other review on "Surf Camp" and "Arvo." My Boyfriend was slightly hungry since we had an early lunch and we split a piece of pepperoni pizza. There were 2 employees working there and a guy was making pizzas in the back, as the cashier lady was grooving and singing the great 90's/2000's hip hop and R&B songs on the radio. Hee. The lady that worked there said it was organic sourdough crust, and the crust was light and crispy, and it wasn't too greasy considering it's pepperoni and cheese. Lol where are you want to go back and get some of the takeout containers for another nights dinner! They had an adorable little patio area that was covered since it was sprinkling and I would've taken a picture, but there were two couples eating pizza out there and I didn't want to disturb them. I definitely want to go back and eat more delicious pizza at this establishment!! Hee read more

Not sure what's happened to Pau Pizza. We used to buy an entire Pepperoni pizza, eat some at resto, then take home the rest, freeze if necessary. But our last whole pizza looked and tasted different, had a dried out look. Today I ordered a slice of the meat pizza. I wanted a lot of protein. But the slice was mostly cheese and jalapeño peppers w very little meat. Really disappointing. Maybe a change in ownership or cook. But definitely not the same. For now it's not on our go to pizza. read more

To thin, minimal toppings. Very little of anything on the pizza. 7 people two large pizzas and only one eaten because the other one was terrible. Pizza crust was tasty but so thin you had to roll the pizza up to eat it. Overpriced for what you get. We used to really love this place but no more. read more

Love this pizza place! The crust is sourdough and has an excellent chew and flavor. The toppings are fresh and delicious. The Hamakua always hits. You can order whole pies or by the slice. The salads are fresh and yummy, though a bit overpriced. They have desserts from time to time and also share a location with a taco joint, which is also very good. This place is a must when in Waimea. read more

Quick and delicious meal. Salad & veggie pizza with strawberry cheesecake ice cream for dessert.

Tasty pizza, it was a thin crust but tasty toppings. They also had pizza by the slice and my son enjoyed the cheese slices. The service was good, they provided oregano and pepper flakes for us. They had plenty of seating indoor and outdoor, and good music. read more

I drove up from Hilo on a Sunday for my kid's soccer, and I couldn't wait to go get a pizza after the game for all of us, but they weren't making pizza at 1:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday because they had a large order. Poor planning. Poor management. Don't take orders that large in the middle of a Sunday. Orders over a certain size should be pre-ordered and planned for accordingly, so the rest of us can still eat. Poor management. read more

Mehn can I say! I love coming here whenever we visit big island. We always visit here twice a year and we always get the hamakua pizza and we would devour the whole pizza for 2 days. This is my second time there. The sourdough crust and the toppings are what keep me coming back; they're simply superb! I really like the ambiance, as there is a passion for music, and it is usually laid-back. There is cheese and peppers, and there is hot sauce too. You can buy whole pizzas or just single slices. read more

We get pizza here every time we come to Hawaii. It's a walk up, order than grab a table sorta place so not much in the way of traditional service, but it always feels easy. Pau Pizza is the most amazing pizza I've ever had! My favorite is the cheese pizza. I love their pizza because the crust is sourdough and it's so special. I love the decorations and how the place looks. It has fun surf and beach decor that make the place an ever more fun place to dine at. The service is good and the people that work there are always helpful. This place is awesome and would recommend to anyone who loves pizza! read more

This place is AMAZING. Like no joke insane. The dough is made out of sourdough unlike anywhere else on earth and it's just so delicious everyone is speechless while eating it. It is so worth the detour. I know sometimes when people read reviews they don't know if it's real but I can assure you this place is to die for and I would die for it. The people working there are so nice and the place itself is so cute. Better than any New York style pizza you will have. This place is 11/10 I can't even stress it enough. If you ever need to trust anything in life it is this review and I promise it's so delicious. Also they have this amazing homemade ranch is so GOOD. They also sell loafs of bread which I have gotten twice and they are gone in seconds. read more

Food is usually quite good, but the service is abysmal. Rude, hostile, and with just about zero knowledge of what's in the food or what options are available. I've been there many, many times as I do appreciate the pizza, salads, and other foods too, but I always walk away wondering why their system asks you for a tip when their service clearly shows no appreciation or respect for delivering any sort of decent service. read more

Pizza was good enough but the girl working the front I would say is less than friendly. Walked up to order and she just stares at us, might have gotten a half a head nod. Second time we've been here and both times this seemed to be the reception we received. I don't think they need to be over the top friendly but it's awkward when you get the feeling you're inconveniencing them by coming in and ordering food. read more

This is a wonderful hidden gem up in Waimea. this place is known for their organic sourdough crust. They also have an array of breads in their bakery that you can enjoy. There's a lot of parking and a shared bathroom space within the little mall that's there. We ordered a split pizza that was a combination of their "whole hog " and the "ahualoa". both were absolutely delicious. All of the rest of their choices are probably equally as wonderful. So you really can't go wrong based on your choices if you want to split the flavors or go with a solid pie. I saw a lot of people just ordering takeout so that they could take it home. If you decide to do that you need to make sure that you order early as there is a bit of a wait for the pizza to show up. We waited around 20 minutes while we were enjoying the pleasure of the chickens trying to get whatever food they could from us. Their desserts look lovely and it was nice to see that you could enjoy either non-alcoholic or alcoholic beverages with your food. Next visit I'll try to enjoy some different flavors to see if I can do a comparison. They have really nice staff and a lot of available outdoor seating to accommodate a small group or a large group. The staff are super friendly and very helpful! read more

If you're craving a really good pizza, don't go here. Sorry, we used to love coming here for the big, gorgeous, delicious pizzas and dine-in experience. Decided to pick up 2 pizzas to go, the Ahualoa & Hamakua, two very different pizzas. Opened the boxes and they looked almost identical. There was barely any mushrooms on the HAMAKUA MUSHROOM pizza! The pizzas were almost transparent thin, there was actually a whole in one of the slices, there was barely any toppings or cheese on either pizza, and they charged $29 per pizza. Very unsatisfactory to pay that much for a limp slice of what USED to be the best pizza anywhere. Sorry Pau Pizza, we pau with you. Sad. read more

Pau Pizza - Limp, almost see thru, barely any toppings Ahualoa. Not worth the price. Compare this pizza to the pizzas they used to serve 4-5 years ago. - Pizza Near Me - Kamuela, Hawaii

I'm so glad I got to come back here after first being shown around by clients. I remember how delicious their sauce and perfectly crisp their crust was. For $14 I got a custom 3-topping "slice" and side salad. The "slice" is really 3 small slices but totally filling! You know you're getting quality produce when your dining in Kamuela. Almost everything is local grown/raised so that's such a bonus to support. Once I finished my "slice" I was oh so tempted to walk back and get another (next time I'll just buy a whole pizza hehe) Ever in the Kamuela area, you won't regret coming to Pau! read more

Their customer service used to be good. Tried to call to order twice, no answer. Went in to order a breakfast burrito just before 11 (their website says till 11:00am). He said "nope, those cut off at 10:30." I let him know their website says 11 and he replied "It does? Can't believe everything on the internet". He appeared short staffed, and didn't really care. Too bad, I used to look forward to going to Pau's. Too much competition to listen to "don't believe everything on the internet" read more
