This place was recommended by Yelp and since we were headed to northeast mall we stopped for lunch. (It's the old souper salad) Big menu and they serve breakfast all day. We walked in around 12 and the place was completely empty and I got nervous about the food, but I needn't have worried. Oh my gosh it was good. Waiter brought chips and salsa for each of us. We ordered a fajita omelet, chicken fried chicken plate and a chicken quesadilla. All the food came out piping hot and it was all delicious. The okra was some of the best I've had, it was super hot and the okra itself inside the coating was bright green and fresh. A big pet peeve of mine is "warm" food, I want my food hot! And it was! Everything was so good. Service was great as well. I will definitely be back and I hope others will support local and give this place a try! read more

Stopped in on Labor Day as our initial 2-3 choices were closed. Asked about the Happy Hour $5 margaritas advertised on their website but was told they haven't got their liquor license yet. Read some reviews, sounded goo, so off we went. Pretty dead @4 pm, hey it's Labor Day, most people cook out. There was 1 table occupied and 1 couple leaving. We were seated and brought chips and a warm salsa. It was awesome, pretty spicy, I loved it. I ordered my go to, verde chicken enchiladas with a dollop of sour cream, the wifey got her go to, beef chile rellano, both w/ rice and beans. We both loved our choices, I liked that they put a small lettuce/ tomato on the plate too. Prices were great, I think each of ours was $9.99...Will definitely be back! read more

This was our first time to try this place out. We are always looking for "non chain" restaurants. This place did not disappoint. It passed the first test of any Mexican place. Salsa was great! I was happy to find a place close to me that had better than average Mexican food. I was going a few times a month until the customer service drove me away. I tend to eat around 3 pm so I am there during the lull period of the day. The first issue occurred after I gave them my order before I even sat down. The waitress never bothered to come back (she hid in the back) until she brought me everything. No chips or water before hand and the food was off that day as well. I gave them another chance and went back. I asked, as I walked in, if the lunch special was still available (it was still offered another few minutes), she told me yes and then charged me the full dinner amount and again the quality was off. I've never understood why one get the worst service when a restaurant is least busy. Looks like the service has been an issue with several reviewers here. read more

First time there. Place is eat off the floor clean. Little hidden diner type place. People was very nice and service was attentive. We both had chicken fajitas. Chicken was tender and nicely seasoned. Rice and beans were fairly standard. Very large and diversified menu which usually is cause for concern for me. Solid four star. Recently ordered carry out from here. Ordered the beef fajitas which were excellent. Attached pic is after I had eaten 2 fajita tacos already. Portion sizes are big. Came with all the garnishes, sour cream, pico and guacamole (which I declined). Restaurant however was empty. I'm hoping people begin to frequent this restaurant. I would hate for them to close like many businesses have done due to the pandemic. Try it you won't be sorry. read more

Breakfast- Food was just ok at the best I had migias hubby had chicken fried chicken on the breakfast menu. He said the gravy was just so so and everything thing else was just blah. We ordered bloody Mary's- I don't know what they were. Did not taste like a Bloody Mary and was served in a small beer stein, they charged $9.00 for each Bloody Mary.. Server did a good job. Went to Potzcuaro Cafe by Northeast mall tonight in Hurst. Only 2 other tables had customers but really really good Mexican food! Delicious Warm Salsa and Chips, Me and my daughter split the Steak, Chicken and Shrimp Fajitas only $19 and we had so much to take home! (Pic is after we already ate 2 fajitas) beans and rice amazing, my husband had the Carne Asada Steak only $14 and it was huge and he said it was great. My little girls said it was the best soft tacos they've ever had lol So go show them some LOVE read more

My wife and I were getting bored with the usual Tex-Mex fare in our neighborhood, so we were searching Yelp* for ideas, when we found Patzcuaro Cafe. (yes, we use Yelp* to find businesses, and you should too) We walked into an empty, deathly quiet restaurant that looked AMAZINGLY clean. The tile floors were polished to a highly reflective sheen. Still, we were worried about the lack of patrons, the funereal silence. Was this place a disaster? We decided to find out. We saw one gentleman bussing tables, waiting tables and greeting guests (us). He was very friendly and seated us immediately. The menu was FANTASTIC. Not only were there dishes uncommon for many Tex-Max restaurants, there was non-Tex-Mex fare as well, in case we bring family or friends and they're not in the mood for Mexican food. We can still get what we crave and they can have catfish, burgers, pork chops, fried shrimp, etc... One thing: the "full menu" link on the Yelp* site has only a few items. It is not even CLOSE to the full menu. Make sure you check out the Yelp* photos of the menu. There are TONS of things to suit any mood. (Disclaimer: in our two visits, so far, we have focused on Mexican food and haven't tried "most" of the non-Mexican foods on the menu.) While we looked over the menu, our chips, salsa and drinks were delivered. Patzcuaro Cafe does not currently have a liquor license, so I had to do without an ice-cold beer to accompany my fajitas. I did not ask if they allow BYOB, but I'm going to ask before we go for our 3rd visit...which will be soon. The red salsa was very tasty and destroyed the discipline, I keep trying to instill in myself, to not spoil my dinner with chips and salsa. It had a nice, but not overly powerful heat, so we asked if they had a spicier salsa. They did! Their green salsa was very spicy, but not quite as flavorful, so we mixed the two and got the best of both. I decided to have the #2 Beef Fajitas with charro beans and my wife had #27 Camarones al Mojo de Ajo (see description on the menu photo). THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT! It is hard to mess up beef fajitas, but I've seen it done at other restaurants. Patzcuaro Cafe's fajitas were quite serviceable. My wife RAVED about her shrimp, as she's a lover of garlic. We knew immediately we would return for more. Our chance to return arrived when our daughter came home from college for a 4 day break. On this second visit, there were two other groups dining, so it wasn't as deserted as before, but it was still eerily quiet. I really think they should liven up the place with some music, at least until the pandemic is over and there are more people dining (and conversing). On this visit, I did something very unusual for me. I have a bad habit of not varying my order at a restaurant, once I've found something I like on the menu. I just HATE being disappointed, when it comes to food. This time, I decided to try #22 Beef Enchiladas w/chile con carne. However, noticing they also serve burgers and fries, I asked if they could substitute fries for the rice and beans. Beef enchiladas and french fries are a favorite combo of mine. My wife decided to try #21 Chicken Enchiladas, but she asked to swap out the rice and beans, opting for the steamed veggies she'd had on her previous visit. No problemo! They made the changes. Our daughter decided to order #8 Chicken Flautas with no modifications. I had been considering the flautas as well, so I asked if I could have a bite. She declined to share her order with me, but since she ate every bite, I completely understood. I can attest that they SMELLED great... My beef enchiladas were FAR from the usual Tex-Mex fare. They were absolutely STUFFED with beef, had a wonderful con carne topping that was quite cheesy, as well. In fact, it also made for a nice sauce in which to dip my french fries. The only change I would suggest would be to top them with finely chopped onion but I'm sure if I'd taken the time to ask for that, before I INHALED the enchiladas, they would have accommodated my request. Patzcuaro Cafe is DEFINITELY on my go-to list for dining away from home. We'll be back soon, especially since I asked about their BYOB policy and they DO allow you to bring your own beer or wine. I do love an ice-cold Mexican beer with my Tex-Mex! I'm thinking of trying #28 Camarones a la Diabla for my next visit. See? This place is so good, I actually WANT to try different meals there! read more
