We were in the area off of Precinct line Rd, and wanted to find something for lunch, once we settled on Mexican, we then used Yelp to find something near by, and Abuelo's was literally around the corner, and boy I am happy we decided to give it a try! Hubs got the Enchilada lunch, selecting beef and he was very satisfied, everything tasted fresh, and was cooked to perfection, along with looking so visually appealing. Oh, also, their chips and salsa are a TREAT, if you've never been they bring a trio of salsa's, one is a tomatillo based, sweetened with pineapple, it's so bright and fresh, and actually surprised me, I don't believe I have ever had sweet, green salsa, every one at the table should like this, they also have a mild, traditional red salsa, and a smoky, roasted, medium spiciness salsa, all three were delicious! I got the Fresco Salad, and chose beef fajita for my protein. Look, I am not a huge salad lover, but it sounded good, and I was looking for something on the lighter side, UM, WOW! Honestly I can't stop thinking about it lol, first of all it's huge, I was only able to eat about 1/4 or maybe even a little less, before I had to give up, and ask for a box. There was enough left that the next day, I made small quesadillas and split the rest with my hubs for lunch and we both were stuffed. The salad was fresh and crisp, the flavors including the dressing that automatically comes with it is the perfect match up of flavors. I really need to find an Abuelo's while out of town next week lol. Our service was great, Tony was very attentive and helpful, always made sure our beverages were full, and friendly. For larger parties, Abuelos is definitely an accommodating place. We had a bridal party about 30ish people in town and they set us up with a room for ourselves which was great. The service was impeccable. The staff was very attentive, food came out quick, and drinks kept flowing as we wanted. With larger parties, it's always hit or miss with service but Abuelos is a hit! The food was great. I had the steak and enchiladas and it was delicious. The steak was cooked exactly as I requested (medium rare) and the enchiladas were tasty. You get your own choice of enchiladas so I got the shredded beef and regular beef ones. Both were great. Don't skip out on the potatoes! That was what I enjoyed a lot as far as sides go. Abuelo has a wonderful menu. On the Tex-Mex section of the menu my favorites under Platters are Durango Burrito and Chile Rellenos. I wanted an order for carry out and they have an entry exclusively for carry out that was pretty useless on Thursday night. I stood there about 4 or 5 minutes. A server on her way to the kitchen saw me, never broke stride and headed into the kitchen. I left for the main entrance and walked up to an unattended host stand. I wasted very little time there and went to the bar to place my order. So basically the service at this location was pretty atrocious. I ordered the Puebla Aztecta from the Combinations portion of the menu. It's a cheese chile relleno, a chicken enchilada and a beef empanada. I got it with beans and Mexican rice. I have always appreciated the consistency and quality from Abuelo's in Hurst. Last time I decided to have a margarita and ordered the El Jeffe margarita. When I got it, I noticed an orange slice in it and charred black ,burnt bits floating around in it. I understand the idea is to grill the orange slice like maybe it's gonna bring out some kind of flavor. I think I'm OK with that, but I was not OK with literally burning the orange slice and putting it in my drink. I brought it up with the waitress. and asked if it could be fixed but that did not happen. I guess I understand if that's just the way the drink comes, but I prefer not to have burnt bit floating around in my drink so if you have an issue with that, it may be something to consider avoiding . From the time you enter til you live you with be welcomed warmly. My beef enchiladas with queso, refried beans and papas (mashed potatoes) was scrumptious! They are friendly and take good care of customers. This became my disabled elderly dad's favorite place and the manager would often help me get him into the car. I bought my 4 year old granddaughter and she ate very well. They serve 3 types of salsa, my favorite is the regular red. The green has pineapple, that's my sisters fave. Dad loved the spicy red. I enjoyed the enchilada, although the beans-to-rice ratio was uneven, and there was a lot of rice. I can see this being a great place for a birthday dinner or a similar gathering. This restaurant serves delicious and tasty food, with big portions so that the deliciousness never ends. The service I received was very welcoming and my server Lori was awesome! She even helped me set up my account for the rewards program, and was exceptionally generous with such an astounding energy. All parts of the my dinner was delicious, from the appetizer to the hearty entrees. When I was at a loss at what to get for dessert, Lori praised their Flan dessert, claiming it was "the best flan in the world". To test this claim I ordered it and as a Mexican I can say that it is the best flan I have ever tried. The flan that is served here has set the bar high and is my new standard when it comes to flan. It's the fluffiest and most creamy flan I've ever had. Abuelo's never disappoints! The food and service are consistently great, and I love that everything comes to the table piping hot. My go-to is the Laredo--two enchiladas (I always swap in chicken) with a soft-shell taco--and I also love the fajitas with steak, chicken, and shrimp. The chicken enchiladas from the lunch specials are fantastic too. The nachos grande with chicken are a must-try, and the homemade chips and salsa are always fresh. This abuelos has a nice party room if you're in need of a place to have a birthday party, baby shower, or meeting. We've also been able to get things Togo for parties and they have always done a great job with those for us. Abuelos was one of the first chain Mexican restaurants in the area to offer veggie fajitas; which made them a go to for my wife. They can get pretty busy, so we do lean a little more into Togo here I'll admit. Though it's nice to meet up for a weekday lunch if possible. read more

I visit Hurst and Arlington locations probably at least monthly and love them both. Servers are always excellent and the food is always hot and delicious. Beef and shrimp fajitas are amazing, so are Chiles rellenos and charro beans. Raspberry hibiscus margarita is awesome! read more

I ordered one of the highest priced entrees - a combination bacon wrapped tenderloin medallions (MR) and bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp. The shrimp - lovely! Tenderloin #1 - sadly overlooked. That seemed to be handled well - A recook was requested, a complimentary dessert offered. I'm cool with that - I am not a complainer, really wasn't looking for a handout, just a proper steak. Well, guess that wasn't ok by the kitchen. Replacement tenderloin just barely qualified as rare.... and the bacon was RAW. Yes, RAW. While I'd rather have an undercooked than over cooked steak- NO ONE EATS RAW BACON. I showed my server. He agreed it was inedible. But no one addressed that. read more

My first visit here was a positive and memorable one. I was greeted within a couple of minutes and seated immediately. The hostess was amiable and professional, and the waitress, Jasmine, was very friendly and attentive. I started with the complimentary chips and salsa for guests. There were three types of salsa; I didn't get their names, but they were all tangy and tasty without being too hot with the spice. After asking, I received a small serving of queso. While I was expecting the queso with white cheese, it came with yellow cheese. Regardless, it was creamy and tangy with bits of peppers, an excellent complement to the chips. Next up were the two lunchtime enchiladas. One was with cheese and the other with guacamole; both had creamy queso poured over the top. On the side was a serving of refried beans and Mexican rice. The cheese enchilada was nice and smooth with a slight tang, and the guacamole enchilada was velvety and had a lovely zing. The refried beans were soft and tasty, and the rice was chunky with carrots, peppers, and corn; both complemented the dish well. The ambiance was welcoming and made me feel like I was in Mexico. There was good architecture and pictures. The music was a collection of upbeat Spanish music. If I ever come to Texas again, I will revisit! read more

There is no doubt why the parking lot stays packed at this place. Abuelo's is throwing down some major tex mex eats in this joint, and you'd be foolish not to join in and catch a case of the itis eating here. After day 1 of a conference down the street from here, I thought about getting Mexican food. The location is perfect - just a hop skip and jump from several hotels near the Hurst Convention Center. If you desire to drive- no worries.The parking lot is massive, and the it the inside is just as spacious with several large areas for big groups. I opted, however, to sit in a booth instead of the bar. I was greeted and seated immediately despite it still being a little crowded from Happy Hour. I was even told my timing was perfect to request a booth because 30 minutes prior, that would not have been the case. This was around 6:30, so it makes sense ( happy hour was over, lol)! I perused the menu for, of course, a drink. I asked for suggestions from the waiter, which did suggest one of their house margs, but when I saw they had sangria, I immediately hopped on it as my choice. It came frozen, which was great since I did walk over to dine. They have two sizes. If I didnt want to get up in the morning, the large would have been great, but I opted for the regular size which was perfect for me to have room to eat my delicious meal, especially since I was given a basket of fresh tortilla chips along with three salsas. I ate the entire basket, of course, because they were so fresh. I was asked if I wanted another basket of tortilla chips, but I turned down the temptation. Instead, I sipped on my frozen sangria and waited (not too long) for my piping hot Laredo plate. Mind you, Mark, my server was so helpful with guiding my decision to choose this entree since my first timer indecisiveness was making me torn between enchiladas or tamales. The taco was also calling my name too. Since I really wanted enchiladas, Mark suggested the Laredo plate that comes with 2 enchiladas of your choice and a beef taco. I asked about the chicken enchilada, which Mark stated was really good, so I went with it. When I tell you that this was the BEST chicken enchilada I've ever tasted! Despite it being filled with dark meat, which I'm not typically a fan of- it was seasoned so well that I forgot my own preferences! I ate it before I knew it! Beef enchilada was on point as well and was just as flavorful. The taco- nice and meaty and still crunchy despite being the last item I ate. I was even blown away by the rice and beans, which were also complimenting to the entree - not too salty but seasoned well. Even the rice was perfectly cooked. My stomach definitely enjoyed this meal, which was 5 star not just because of the food but my server. Mark was very attentive checking on me and ensuring my solo dining experience was impeccable. I wanted for nothing and, even upon exiting, was offered a cup of water to go. He must have known that Sangria was going to hit me soon because soon as I got back to my hotel, I felt really good! Slept like a baby that night, too! Abuelo's is pretty spectacular, but don't be a spectactator- go here and experience the food and service. You will not be disappointed! read more

I am a bit frustrated because I am a member of their Rewards program. I failed to provide my information when I was there. When I got home I immediately uploaded my receipt as the receipt states points will be added within 72 hours, but that didn't happen. Seven days later and my points are still not there so I had to call and they reentered my information. Hopefully I'll have my points in the following days. But this is really frustrating especially since they should honor their rewards program as documented in their rules. My advice is NOT to forget to provide ur info while dining. read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the DFW area! Their complimentary chips and salsa (3 types) are to die for and combined with the queso, I can't stop eating them. . The steak fajitas arrived sizzling to the table and they were equally delicious. I also sipped on a swirl sangria Margarita since it was 100 degrees outside . Leah was my server and she was nice, efficient, helpful and checked in on me frequently. The dining and bar areas are huge and filled with lots of booths and tables. Take into consideration that it was the day after the holiday BUT the business was open so there were still expectations. I read the reviews from the parking lot. They were a bit conflicting but I decided to go in and give it a try. It was the day after the holiday so it was pretty empty. We were seated immediately and the server was really nice and patient. The food came and the nachos were way larger than I expected and they were so good. The only hiccup for me were the drinks. I tried the raspberry hibiscus margarita and the taste was an acquired taste. Probably wouldn't order again. I hate to mention that a string of hair was found in my drink, ew! Top notch Mexican food. For a very busy restaurant, the service we received was great. We were told when we arrived (party of 5) there would be a 30 minute wait. We came without a reservation. Our wait turned out to be about 5 minutes. Our server advised us that he was a bit stretched thin, but we certainly didn't notice. Our drinks arrived promptly, along with refills without having to ask. The food was delivered to the table without undue delays. Overall, excellent service! The food and adult drinks were also excellent. We ordered Margaritas, and the ABUELO'S DIP SAMPLER. Yeah, that's a table pleaser. Our main dishes came quickly, piping hot, properly spicy and delicious. Pro tip: they have a much spicier salsa if you ask for it. This restaurant has a wonderful Spanish village feel to it. Very tall ceilings keep the noise level acceptable, and the lighting makes for a somewhat intimate feel. The tables are well spaced so you don't feel as though you're sharing a meal with strangers at the next table. It's a very inviting restaurant. We don't frequent Abuelos nearly enough. They were extremely nice from the time I called to make the reservation, upon our arrival at the restaurant, and during our time of dining in! Monica was our waitress; she's the best! She got everyone's order right, kept our drinks full, and you can tell she truly cared about the customers. To top it off, the drinks were the best.
