Both locations are very beautiful and all I can say is you actually need to visit both! This winery is military based, and although we are not military, we love what this place is founded on and what they support. The forest Grove location is a cute little hole in the wall winery and I believe you can sit outside as well. It is in the heart of downtown Forest Grove so everything is in walking distance! The old Highway 47 location is perched up on a hill just down the road from Henry Haag Lake and if you look closely, you can see, Helens and one other mountain. You sit back relax look over the vineyards and if you're lucky there might be somebody playing some live music. They also have seating options for inside the highway location, which has AC and heat depending on the weather. You should definitely try out dauntless wine! You won't regret it.

The cheese and bread board was simply delightful, my personal favorite. Beautiful vineyard, drive and venue area. Everybody was very kind and the ambiance was perfectly balanced. Sarah was a lovely server who cared about her job and presented everything in a bubbly manner. The lavender marion berry jam was so good I asked after about it and was given a sample jar! I did not really see specific ADA spots which were likely full but the parking lot is small and easy to navigate with a short stroll to the tasting room. I was a bit surprised that they didn't have water at the tables for everyone and the menu was very small with two different paninis - a caprese and an Italian meat one.... we got one of each and then split them.Which was pretty perfect and both were really good! Their regular menu is much different and I look forward to trying it when I visit for a regular wine tasting. We started with a glass of the Rose Bubbles. It was perfect for a late summer afternoon. We drank a bottle of the Moscato Frizzante, a definite favorite. We are both hummingbirds, is in love with sweet wines. Sometimes the sweet almost assaulting on the palate. I was completely amazed at how smooth, soft yet supple that wine is! We asked to try their blends with sangiovese which they have 2. I was attending with my friends mom. My friend passed away recently and was married here so she wanted to get bottles of her favorite wines. There were 2 people working and he just set the tasting wines down (which were tiny samples in tiny wine carafes), mumbled what they were without pointing which was which and practically ran. Since we were actually drinking wine, our glasses were full so we had to drink from the carafe, which felt a bit tacky plus they are reds we were trying to actually taste... I realize drag Bingo is also happening but a tasting glass to give some aeration to the two wines is helpful. It was such a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. The few annoyances we had, I imagine were likely from them having to navigate a larger group. It is so nice having a place like this so close! I also have to express that the inclusive events make me more anxious to support them with my business.

Approachable wines, affordable prices, tasting menu of multiple varietals, friendly and knowledgeable hostess, and beautiful tasting room. Our expectations far exceeded, we left big fans.The friendly set up and unpretentious, food-friendly wines make this a place with something for everyone except the most entrenched of wine snobs I'd guess. TASTING ROOM: Large and bright tasting room has a lovely interior with extra and cozy seating as you enter, in case you want to buy a glass or bottle and sit and sip. Lovely views from the tasting room. Level in accessible entry via paved ramp which leads from a couple of spots of accessible (aka ADA) parking. Other parking is down-slope of the tasting room with a flight of stairs up. Tasting room hours 11-5, seven days a week. TASTING SET UP: For only $5 you can taste from a preselected set of six wines on a fixed card, or choose any five wines from their extensive list. We much prefer the latter format and appreciated we could choose our own. (The tasting fee is refunded with purchase.) HOSPITALITY: On a scale of 1 to 5, Brittany (the tasting room hostess) gets 10 for congeniality and knowledge. She made the visit delightful all around. THE WINES: Montinore wines are organic and produced with biodynamic methods. Varietals available to taste include Pinot Noir (several), a blended red of estate grown Italian varietals and Pinot Noir (see below), Pinot Gris, Riesling (several), Muller-Thurgau, Gerwirtztraminer, a blended white called Borealis using the estate grown white varietals, Port of Pinot Noir and dessert wines. We particularly enjoyed and purchased the following... ...Almost Dry Riesling, a great acid balance and a very nice wine for summer or with spicy food. ...a delectable Port of estate grown Pinot Noir, which they send to the fabulous Clear Creek Distillery in Portland for fortification. (Delightful neighbor David Hill Winery does this with their great Port too. And we who drink Port are all better for the winery and Clear Creek partnerships!) ...a blended red of estate grown Lagrein, Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) and Teroldego called Rosso di Marchesi after owner Rudy Marchesi (who came to Oregon via the Bronx and New Jersey). My Sicilian hertiage husband (who came to Oregon via Brooklyn and New Jersey) was eager to try the Rosso given he loves the northern Italian varietal Teroldego which is little planted in the U.S. Bottled as varietal, Teroldego is medium bodied, lower in tannins and intended to be consumed while young. (Think Zin meets cherry tart Pinot.) The addition of the Lagrein (another northern Italian varietal ) with more acid and tannins and Pinot Noir work well in this blend. Drinkable now andt will likely be better in a year or two. We bought some of this first time release and look forward to the next release tool. THIS N THAT: 1) VERJUS: We appreciate that Montinore is one of the handful of Oregon wineries to produce Verjus. This unfermented juice of unripe grapes and makes a wonderful cooking ingredient for salad dressings, sauces (in particular for fish) or in braises. Montinore's is particularly a good one and a good value at $20. (Verjus article here for those interested. http://www.oregonlive.com/foodday/index.ssf/2011/10/reinventing_verjus_for_the_nor.html ) My hubby is fond of using verjus for salad dressings as unlike vinegar it won't fight wine served with a salad course. 2) NAME: Although one might assume Mon ti NOR ay as pronunciation given the founder's last name is Marchesi, the folks at Ardiri Winery (another winner) told us it is Monte NOR. For Montana and Oregon. 3) MMMMMMMMM.....They sell a Pinot Noir and cocoa chocolate sauce. Recommended but you'll need to resist the urge to drink this from the bottle.

Even the wine tasting, usually they talk about the type of wine and where it's made, however, the person who poured us the wine didn't even tell us anything about the type of wine. THE BLACK AND WHITE: This was our last winery stop before we headed back to Portland and we were fortunate to snag a seat outside overlooking Mount Hood. This place also doubles as an Airbnb so if there's ever a stay the night kind of deal, this winery offers it. I got the wine tasting of four which consisted of a pinot gris, cab franc, pinot noir and a rose of pinot noir. My favorite out of the bunch was surprisingly the cab franc, even though we were in pinot country. Very green and vegetal tasting. It was a weird way to get to the bathroom which I had to walk around the building because the farmer was sleeping in the main room. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall a tasting was around $28. I'd say a good value and good wines with a great view.
