I been here about three times because my daughter will only eat pizza sometimes but I'll never come here again first if all it's not good it's regular pizza overpriced, most importantly they have bad customer service the first time I came they responded to me so rude my husband noticed that it got me upset like they actually made. Me feel sad and he didn't even ever want to come back but we did twice more and each time they are rude especially the older lady I hate to say it but she treats people who aren't white different because I've seen her different interactions with different races and she treated us poorly as well as another family or a different race and I saw her totally change when she was helping out white people I really hate to say that but my husband and I noticed it to the point where we're definitely not coming back and I felt like I had to say it . Also since I knew they take long most times I told the woman I'd be back because I was going to buy a drink somewhere else and she told me not to leave because she was just gonna place my pizza on the counter if I left , but still proceeded to take long her co worker had to come ask me again what I ordered because she was just ignoring me I was so uncomfortable. I'm no Mario or Luigi, this place is soo bad, I have to call out for my Mamma Mia. We ordered 2 large Pizza's one with plain cheese the other with pineapple & mushroom. Since I was a little mutant eating pizza this is by far the most tasteless pizza ever. I should have taken a slice and slap the chef plus the owner. Pasty D'AMORE'... as in "de amor"... as in "of love"... Not quite the feel I got as I got done ordering a pizza and heard the maybe manager/owner yelling rudely at her new employee.... She was chewed out for not knowing the sequence of things, even though it looks like she hadn't been trained on things. TACT and CLASS... Anyway, on to the pizza... as I waited by the side for my pizza to be finished up, I saw a guy with tongs lifting up slices, trying to pull chunks of stuff out from under it. I couldn't tell quite what it was, but it looked like something from someone else's order? He then tried to take a slice from somewhere else and kept arranging it to look like it was from the original... LAZY IDIOT! Make another pizza if you screwed one up. He's the same guy that I came to ask for a bag/box from who kept leaving the counter as I would go to ask him for things... Thankfully I got another person's intact cheese pizza somehow, and I guess some other chump got the FRANKENPIZZA. Hopefully they complained... 4 stars for the pizza, came out fresh and piping hot and the cheese was all gooey and melty. Thin crust, very tasty. However, 1 star, if not 0 stars, for the disgusting pasta. We also ordered half ravioli half spaghetti, and it was pretty bad. Hubby pointed out that I could make better pasta in my sleep. The noodles were all soggy, ravioli cold and hard, and the sauce dumped over the top was mediocre at best. No wonder no one orders the pasta here, I was expecting some oven-baked goodness, but nope. Visited Patsy's at the Farmer's Market with my family last week. My son and I ordered a slice of pepperoni each. The slices came out and they were soft, floppy and the dough was completely white and underdone on the bottom. I took one bite and wondered why I even bother breathing air in the morning. I took the slice promptly back, and said, "This isn't cooked enough, the dough on the bottom is white and underdone. Could you throw it back in there?" The guy takes the slice back and I watch them throw it into the oven. About a minute later, he takes it out and puts it on the plate and hands it to me. Now it's soft, floppy, underdone and hot. The guy says "If you need it cooked more, bring it back." Really? I need to bring my food back twice for you to prepare it properly? I ask him what temperature his oven is at. He looks back at it hesitantly and then turns to me with some trepidation and says "550." Why am I not surprised? My son didn't like his slice either; he said the dough tasted funny. I told him it was undercooked. Apparently I live in Selegna Sol, where everything is backwards; indian restaurants don't know how to cook indian food, burger joints can't make a decent burger, and pizza places like this have no clue how to cook a pizza. read more

We ordered a slice of pep pizza from a joint that boasts that "ol' blue eyes" used to eat there. The crust was nice and crispy, fresh and homemade. The sauce was boss and the pepperoni tasted fresh...not frozen. I love Patsy's D'amore's Pizza! I've been coming here since I was a little girl during the 60s. They were the first pizzas we ever tried. I have so many fond memories of Mom buying us a large pepperoni pizza, spaghetti and meat sauce. We would devour them at the outdoor tables under the trees. The pizza is always consistently great with a savory, crispy thin crust, delicious red sauce and of course pepperoni! I highly recommend their pizzas. Our two pizzas at Patsy's were so incredibly fresh and delicious that you felt like all the ingredients -- tomatoes, garlic, fresh basil & onions had literally just been picked from the fields. Friend recommended their pizza and I have to agree. They were quite good. Yummy thin with the just the right amount of grease. Hey, you gotta have it I think to have good thin pizza. It's hard to say who has the "best" pizza, regardless of the style. I personally have many favorites. Sort of like I don't think anyone has the "best" burger. I have many favorites. I went to The Grove and stupidly left my card at home so I was stuck paying for everything with cash. After I bought everything I came for, I was starving and was stuck with a measly $4. So unfortunate. Luckily, Patsy came to my rescue and was able to dish out a $3.85 slice of good, albeit had-been-sitting-there pizza. If you want yours fresh, you should order a whole pie for about $12, but besides that, I always find the service to be okay. The employees talk to each other a lot but they notice you pretty quickly. Taste is phemon and unique and I always find myself coming back, moneyless or not. Pepperoni pizza with garlic bread is my JAM (paired with a lemonade from their neighbors). read more

"As good as it gets" on the "Real New York Pizza style pizza in LA" scale. I've been going to Patsy's for many decades now and it is the only New York style Pizza I've found in LA, except for the recently opened place in Santa Monica that is actually a New York place. Yes, I concede on that one, but I don't like the crust. In case it's not clear from the address, Patsy's is inside the old Farmer's Market, at what is now The Grove. It has been there forever, and it's owner had claiming rights to being the first person to serve pizza in Los Angeles at another restaurant in Hollywood. The joint at the Farmer's Market is currently run by his daughter. No where else in LA that calls itself "NY Style Pizza" is actually New York Style Pizza. This doesn't matter to a lot of people, but it matters to me. I grew up on the East Coast and I got the Pizza Gene. I Can Tell. So, Patsy's - it's as good as it gets, and it also has a lot of authentic irritatingness just to keep it real. It's changed a bit over the years and it's not as good as it was, but that first bite is still wonderful. Today I asked for oregano on it after the reheated slice came out of the oven and the kid serving me said "um, what's oregano?". Well, okay. You cannot hope to continue making high quality pizza when the people making it don't know what oregano is, but I give him credit for being up front about it. I told him which shaker had the oregano and now he knows. But still.... I'd describe the pizza but you really can't. Just the basics: It's a thin, chewy crust and sometimes even has bubbles and a bit of char - the holy grail of pizza crust. The cheese is pure mozzarella, which matters. No "three chesee mixture". The sauce is not sweet. Olive oil drips off when you pick up your slice and fold it in half and you can use the crust to wipe it up and get every bit of goodness. I only eat pizza on very special occasions and I only eat at Patsy's once in a blue moon. Today was that day, I had two delicious slices and now I have my "real New York Pizza" craving satisfied for another long while. Mmmmm. read more

Living in the beautiful Los Angles we know nothing comes simple or cheap. Everything is over exaggerated , comes with too much glitter , & in the end just doesn't satisfy us. We live in a materialistic town, rather we like to admit it or not! So when I passed by farmers market and found this jewel of a restaurant I knew i would immediately love it! It's simple and has a no bullshit approach to it. Gotta love the italians! You will feel like Al Pachino in godfather when you're ordering haha. The service is very friendly and everyone just looks so happy and can't wait to serve you a slice of new york style pizza. The food is amazing and will keep you coming back for more! Pizza , soup , pasta..the works! Can't explain...but ur no one till you dined at Patsys! OH & btw there is this chick who works there with frizzy hair in a ponytail. She's an excellent worker & is the only one who looks somewhat italian hahaha. Went to the farmer's market later in the night at the Grove. We decided to try the pizza at this small shop. The servers were very kind and prompt in obtaining our orders. We ordered a 16" pizza that had mushrooms and pepperoni for about $22. The pizza was decently sized for the price. The pizza tasted great with a good amount of mushroom and sausage toppings. I also like how instead of using sausage crumbled, they use thick sausage slices. Overall the pizza was pretty good, but the price is a little on the pricier side. read more

The pizza is consistenly really really good- it drips with grease but that's the best part. The cheese is a bit loose, and the pizza is floppy, so make sure you support the bottom when you eat it. I've never tried their other offerings- I don't see the point. Bob's next door makes great lemonade, and getting them together is a great lunch. One of the problems with Farmer's Market is that it can be crazy crowded, especially at lunch. Not many people know that you can go sit upstairs- there are a few staircases right near D'Amore's that lead right up to a seating area that is almost always nearly empty. read more

Exactly what you expect from a place in the grove. The pizza is fairly good, with a good ratio of cheese, sauce, and dough. Nothing is particularly overpowering about the pie,.which is both a weak and strong point. It was strictly inoffensive and satisfied my expectations of what pizza should taste like. This could be a solid 4 star place, except that they're inconsistent on the crust. Sauce and cheese are tangy and gooey and tasty - perfect. Crust is a bit bland (no big) but often very undercooked (fail) - pale white on the bottom and doughy. Had a slice today like that. Then another pizza comes out and I can see the cheese is browned on top and the crust is actually cooked. Oh wellz. Crust is usually the dealbreaker with pizza - this place is no different.
