Service was good and mixed drink very nice and refreshing. Now about those NOT so soft shell crabs, They should be SOFT to start with and then fried in hot oil or butter to a "crispy delectable and consumable in its entirety" treat. What I got was soggy fried crabs starting to turn hard making the shell impossible to chew and swallow. Patriots grill needs to find someone to instruct the cook how to prepare these expensive treats. read more

What a treat this place is up here in Gloucester. Delicious food. The smoked chicken sandwich is huge and the fries are nice and greasy. The staff is always eager to please and friendly. We have only eaten here at lunch and its usually not busy and service is quick. read more

Frys are awesome. French dip is huge and also awesome. Philly steak is awesome. Looked pretty big too. It was my wife's. Chicken salad my wife's friend had must have been good she was done before all of us. Chicken philly of wife's friend's husband was damn tasty he said. And his friends barbecue I overhead him saying he liked it alot. They bring you a cool six pack of three different kinds of barbecue sauces and ketchup, malt vinegar and hot sauce. Begad and begorrah!! What are these people thinking trying to present themselves as an Irish pub! Maybe they pull a good pint o Guinness, I don't know, I don't drink stout. They do have Magners on tap, so that's something. But the real tosser was the fish and chips. DO Not try to serve shoe string fries out of a bag, over cooked to boot! with soggy fish, also probably out of a bag, and call it Fish and Chips! Not enough malt vinegar in the world to make it okay. Went for first time. I think I will give them another try just for good measure but I myself was not pleased. My boyfriend felt different. I got the fish fillet and shrimp w/ 2 sides. ($20) Let me tell u when the fish came it was like something out of a horror movie and my boyfriend and I both exclaimed "what is that!?" I should've taken a pic. My "beer-battered Cod fillet" came out looking like a big corn dog. By that I mean it was literally ROUND and fluffy. Had so much batter and full of grease that it was inedible. The 1/2 lb shrimp.. Very large, dirty, not butterflied shrimp. On the menu they say "old-bay shrimp" yet there wasn't a spec of old bay in sight. I guess the shrimp could be hit or miss for anyone, but for me they were a miss. I also got Mac n cheese and beans. The Mac was good, the beans were beans. My bf got wings and bbq w/ 2 sides ($12) I didn't try any of his (shocking) but he said it was good. (He rarely says anything is bad) So again for good measure I'll go back and try something other than seafood but it really seemed like to me that the cook in the kitchen last night had no idea what he was doing and there was no quality control check. Other than that, place looked clean and nice lil outside patio. Oh and our server was extremely nice and the bartender also came over to check on us several times! The place was awesome! We were visiting Gloucester for the weekend and wasted our money on numerous local restaurants. We tried Patriots Grill hoping Gloucester offered something better and boy did we hit the jackpot ! Hubby ordered the Southern Belle burger which had pulled pork, cheddar, and bbq sauce ontop of a juicy burger ! He couldn't eat it fast enough it was so good !! I was good and had a salad and fried pickles. I loved fried pickles and these did not let me down ! They were delicous and the sauce was awesome! The waitress couldn't have been nicer and made several excellent suggestions. Love this place ! Best place in Gloucester ! I think we will be going back at least 1 more time before we leave, guarantee we will be back when in town! read more

Just had the best burger-the Mulligan, and my husband had the Yorktown burger. It was expertly crafted, juicy, and full of flavor. We both agreed that this will be our new go-to place for burgers. Even though the place was packed, service was terrific. We could see the other orders of ribs, fish and chips, wings, and subs and all the other customers seemed to be enjoying their meals. For dessert, my husband got the "cookie skillet" with ice cream and pecan sauce. It came to table with a hot cookie and vanilla ice cream with a drizzle of the sauce and pecans on top. Great little place to grab a sandwich or some Que around the middle peninsula. The Que was moist, juicy and had a good smoke to it. Also had the French Dip which was done like a Cuban press. The meat was fantastic very smoky and tender. Good beer selection including many Irish ones. Service was fast and friendly even though the place was busy and the AC wasn't keeping up with the hot day. Nice deck and patio for outside dining as well. We will be back to try more of their offerings. read more

Amazing burgers!!! Everything we ate was made from scratch home cooked southern food. We loved and worth the wait.

I ordered the special. It was a roast beef sandwich with au juice, cheddar & grilled onions. It was very good but a little grisly. The French onion soup was excellent. Nice atmosphere and good lunch crowd. read more
