The outdoor plants and flowers are a beautiful touch. Our server, Angelica was very friendly and attentive. The pulled chicken platters that we chose were so delicious! Portion sizes on the yummy pulled chicken and tasty side of coleslaw were large. The cornbread was soft and moist, and we only needed to ask for butter to top it off. We were very pleased with the platter's presentation. I enjoyed my second side of fried okra which was on point! Looking forward to coming back with family and friends very soon to introduce them to this hidden gem.

My steak last night ($25.00) was full of gristle, and it was cut so thin that the expression "medium rare" could only have been meaningless to the chef. This problem cannot be resolved by sending the steak back, it is a problem that exists has resulted from the restaurant drifting toward "nostalgic family fun" and assistance with various fund raisers and away from quality food and preparation. I suggest that the owner buy the highest quality of food available with locally-sourced seafood, steaks, and poultry. Go easy on the "nostalgic family fun" theme and the emphasis on how perky members of your wait staff are. These are cheap currency.

From the friendly welcome and warm greeting by our server, to the wide array of selections on the menu and delicious aroma, we were ready to order. I went with the staple of the pork bbq sandwich and fries. I was originally considering the brisket due to a couple of reviews, but first time at any bbq place, I typically go for this staple. I was certainly not disappointed. The amount of meat and slaw was the perfect balance. The fries were hot and seasoned perfectly. Then came the selection of sauces from which to choose. Although the spicy tomato based sauce appears to be the most popular, I love vinegar based sauces, so I went with that one. It was absolutely delectable! I know this place is a little off the beaten path, but if you are driving on I-64 and want to take a relaxing break and grab some food or beverages, this place is perfect for good food and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

I recommend ordering this dish, especially since our server deemed it as one of the restaurants signature dishes. I also had a glass of Malbec red wine, pair of quite nicely with my meal. One of the other guests ordered the corn dip, which had a side of pita chips to dip into. The corn dip was slightly thick and sweet, with a few slices of avocado sitting on top. Also delicious. Rocco's Smokehouse kept popping up when we searched for places to eat, so we decided to give it a shot. We weren't really in the mood for barbecue, and they only had ONE steak option, but the menu looked so interesting that we figured, why not? There was about a 15-20 minute wait, which immediately had me thinking, "Okayyy, maybe we made the right choice!" The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and had a great vibe. IMPORTANT: Navigation took us to the wrong location, so pay close attention to the Yelp directions. Rocco's is currently operating from a temporary location. Once we were seated, our waiter was right over to take our drink order. First things first--the sweet tea is MAGNIFICENT! And let me tell you what you NEED to order: Smoked barbecue wings -- MUST ORDER -- absolutely get it! Rocco actually brought it to our table and warned us that we would be hooked and he was right! I originally wanted the lump crab cakes, but I didn't see anyone else ordering them, so I took my waiter's recommendation and went with the brisket quesadillas. GREAT decision! They were juicy, flavorful, and downright scrumptious. My partner ordered Platter #3, which came with ribs, a quarter chicken, and pork barbecue. The chicken was his favorite--he could not stop talking about it! You could really taste that smoky flavor in the meat. The macaroni and cheese was pretty good too. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by Rocco's. We went in craving steak and left talking about smoked wings, chicken, brisket, and barbecue! Would I go back? Absolutely! And next time, those crab cakes are getting ordered! #WilliamsburgVA #WilliamsburgEats #VirginiaFoodie #RoccosSmokehouse #Foodie #YelpEats #BBQ #FoodReview #VirginiaRestaurants
