Bite of Maine has had me in a committed relationship with lobster for YEARS, and frankly, the other…read morelobster spots can stop calling. They simply do not compare. The lobster roll is the star of the show--tender, juicy, buttery perfection piled into a soft roll like it knows exactly how important it is. I will say, the amount of lobster seems to have slimmed down a little over the years...maybe an ounce or so? And yes, I noticed. I have photographic evidence! I've been sending pictures of these glorious lobster rolls to my sister for years purely to rub this delicacy in her face, so I basically have my own unofficial lobster-roll archive. The crinkle-cut fries are another must, especially with a little Old Bay sprinkled on top. That tiny dusting takes them from "good fries" to "hand me another basket immediately." And don't sleep on the fried shrimp platter. The shrimp are plentiful, nicely seasoned, and consistently one of my favorites when I somehow manage to order something besides lobster. I've had the whoopie pies. I've had the Snap Dogs. They're perfectly fine, I'm sure. But this body was not built on "perfectly fine." This body was built on the REALLY good stuff. LOBSTER. Bite of Maine remains my lobster-roll champion. Everybody else is just out here participating. Inside is cool and quaint, lobster eclectic with a community vibe. Service is fast!

My brother is in the hospital and may not see another Friday so I needed a good haddock fish fry to talk about with him .... and I found one even though it was not beer battered. A Bit of Maine offers a perfect seaside ambiance ... it's like stepping up to a clam shack. Yes, you have to wait in line because there is no table service. Young lady greeted me with a smile and gave me a sample of the chowder! Asked for tap water and she provided albeit in a rather small plastic cup. The tables are ready for diners ... ketchup, hot sauce and malt vinegar. Will admit that even for me the temperature was rather cool inside. It's a pleasant CASUAL ... VERY CASUAL ... dining room. Lots of take out orders came and went so obviously something good is happening here!! My platter exceeded expectations!! Lots of perfect French fries!! LOTS of them!! A decent sized cup of a little above average cole slaw. And a really nice piece of perfectly fried oh so sweet perfection (I already wrote perfect didn't I!) haddock ... ok, it wasn't beer battered so it was not a perfect rendering of a Buffalo Friday Fish Fry but I am not complaining because I was happy! The chowder (Yes, the sample convinced me!) was tasty in a briny sense of the word with lots of fish and yes lobster in it along with some potatoes. A large chowder would make a very satisfying meal. And, I hurried back to the ICU to tell my brother even though he couldn't answer. I am sure that like me, he was happy that I had such a great Friday HADDOCK fish fry!!

I stopped by during their pop up at Farmhouse Brewery and, once again, they did not disappoint. One thing you need to know: their burritos are massive. We're talking "the size of your head" big, so come hungry or be ready for some epic leftovers. The menu is small and focused (usually around four burrito choices), but every single one is packed with quality ingredients and flavor. The Coop spends most days serving on base, but keep an eye out for their local pop-ups. They're always worth chasing down. This time around, I ordered the Pepper Jack Chicken Burrito which was grilled chicken breast, maple bacon, melty pepper jack cheese, and their signature Coop Sauce, all bundled up in a warm tortilla. Every bite was the perfect balance of hearty, savory, spicy, and just a hint sweet from the bacon. Their Coop sauce is one of a kind. Tangy, and delicious. I'm sure adding an egg would take it to the next level (that's an option on all burritos). My friends had the Breakfast Burrito! This one comes with fluffy scrambled eggs, sharp cheddar cheese, juicy sausage, more of that craveable maple bacon, herby potatoes, and (of course) the signature Coop Sauce. They raved about every bite. I appreciate that The Coop keeps things simple with their streamlined menu and focus on top-notch burritos. Whenever I see them around town, I make it a point to stop ... even if there's a line, it moves fast and is absolutely worth the wait. Whether you're looking for a new lunch favorite or just crave seriously great street food, The Coop is a true gem on the Virginia Beach food truck scene. Can't wait to catch them at their next pop-up!

I believe this was their first time in Suffolk so when my husband found out that they were going to be here on Sunday he already planned for our dinner to take place here. We arrived a little after 2:00 p.m. and there was a line already but needless to say the line moves swiftly. We ordered our Combos and waited about 15 minutes maybe less for our food. I believe everything is cooked to order. Our food was packaged very well!! I would like to think... packaged with love as you can see one of the pictures I did get a snap. The customer service was spot on...we were greeted we were thanked...service with a smile that's already five stars out of five stars in my opinion. We didn't eat our food until we got home ...my husband had the orange chicken along with the pancit and some chicken skewers that he added to his combo and I had the pancit along with the chicken skewers. Everything was awesome!! A lot of pancit came in that combo and I had no business eating it all in one sitting but I did. Again Super Fresh and not to the point where I was regretting eating a whole tray of pancit. If you have not tried this food truck definitely put it on your radar. I tried it a few years ago and some of the items I didn't care for so it's up to you to try at your own risk but I highly recommend the pancit and the orange chicken. I believe they're going to have Suffolk on their rotation going forward so look out for them if you're going to be in the area or just go to their Facebook page and check out where they're going to be next!
