After the assistant administered the anesthesia shots, I sat in the chair and waited for over an hour. The monitor in front of me had been left on, showing the daily schedule--including my name and those of all the other patients coming in that day. I watched my appointment time come and go on the screen. I was concerned the anesthesia might wear off, and I also had somewhere I needed to be shortly after. I eventually decided to leave and possibly reschedule. I was moving back to New York soon anyway, so I booked an appointment with my longtime dentist in Brooklyn instead. When he reviewed my x-rays and examined my teeth, he told me I didn't have a single cavity. My teeth looked perfectly healthy! No treatment needed at all. I'm glad I walked out. If I hadn't, I might've let this trickster treat my mouth like an ATM and perform unnecessary work on perfectly healthy teeth. Be wary.

When I got there they tried to force dirty ionizing radiation old school dental X-rays upon me. I asked if they had the new radiation free DEXIS CARIVU technology and they did not, but they had said prior that they would not force me to get dirty ionizing radiation scans. But when I got to the office, I felt tricked. They said they wouldn't do the exam without forcing me to be exposed to the radiation cancer-causing scans. They tried claim the x-rays are low dose as ever as the industry has lied about for decades. However, there is no safe dose of ionizing radiation according to LNT, just look it up. IONIZING RADIATION IS A KNOWN CLASS 1 CARCINOGEN. The only safe dose is no dose. Everyone should be asking for the new dental technology and RADIATION-FREE DENTAL EXAMS! These dentists should not be forcing cancer-causing scans on their patients. The first rule of a healthcare provider should be to DO NO HARM. Especially for children.

They told me in order to get a cleaning I had to have x-rays. The assistant who took the x-rays and other photos was perfunctory in her duties and didn't respond when I told her what she was doing was uncomfortable. Dr. Cera came in a gave me a quick exam and then I was told I had to go back out to reception to wait for a hygienist. My wait started at 35 minutes past my appointment time. I waited another 15 minutes and told them I had to leave for another appointment. So I went in for a cleaning and never got a cleaning. Worst of the worst.

The only complaint that I have is that their communication is lacking. I recently had an issue with contraindications for the oral sedation and it would have been great to know from the beginning that this was what the issue was. I was initially informed that my insurance didn't want to pay for it. After that was resolved I did the procedure with no sedation but they couldn't finish. I was told to return the following Tuesday to finish only to find out that they only wanted to do half of the remaining work and that I would have to come back a third time to actually finish. I told them that wouldn't work and now I'm waiting for a cancellation because they are booked into next year. Just be clear please.

I say sure, go for it. Dial forward, Im in the chair getting this treatment done and the hygenist notes that my teeth are "already paper white." She seems a bit worried about the whitening going too far. We go through the treatment and afterward Im handed a bag that does not have whitening trays in it. I ask Dr. Detrik where they are. He says "Oh, you really dont need them, your teeth are already white. I had them include a light that you can use instead but honestly you dont really need to." I say nope, I want trays, isnt that what you did the whole high-tech super accurate mapping of my mouth for? Isnt that what I actually came here for, and what I actually paid for? Not this light that I could have bought on Amazon for $20?" So they ORDER my trays. Mind you, I had just paid them to put goop on my teeth to open the surface of my teeth chemically to allow the HOME tray treatment to work better. You are supposed to have the treatment then follow up with whitening trays the following two weeks because THAT is when the whitening happens. At home, with the trays. The trays he didnt order at the time I paid for this treatment because he was very clear in his mind that I do not actually NEED the 3k treatment he talked me into doing. And the trays? They arrived via mail about a month later. Far too late for the at home whitening to benefit from that treatment I just went through, spent so much money on. So, you tell me? What is the top priority for this dentist, this office? Is the top priority caring for your teeth in a clinically appropriate, and necessary way? Or is it $omething el$e?
