Do you remember the sometimes mythical depiction of the family doctor who personalized services to each family? If Dr, McQuitty were a family practicioner, he would fit that stereotype. Not only is he personable and compassionate, he is the consumate problem solver. On a Friday, when his Santa Fe office was closed, I broke a tooth, in the front, which was both unsightly and painful. Facing public appearances, i might have been out of luck if not a patient of this dental office. I was directed to an Alb office, when both Drs McQuitty (Patrick and Madison) problem solved a solution, fixed the issues, and provided a state of the art option. Of all the skills necessary for excellence in medical or dental care, problem solving and confidence are highest in my search for for office. This is not the first time I have been impressed with this office, and I know - fear - it will not be last. read more

Staff were friendly and professional, but my cleanings were not as thorough as with my prior dentist.

I've experienced rude reception, attitude and shaming from Dr. McQuitty, showing up to scheduled appointments only to discover that he has left for some other engagement, and my insurance being billed for services not performed. Some of the work has been good, dental hygienist is great. Overall, however, I can't recommend this practice. read more

I'd say overall my experience with this dental office is far better than any other I've been to. The only real issue I had is with the office staff. They kept on using the wrong pronouns for me each time I went in. Idk what I'm going to do with that, maybe look for another office that can get my pronouns correct. It wasn't just one office member that used the wrong pronouns even with a pin. It's really tiring to correct someone all the time. This was an absolutely amazing experience. I had been putting off getting new veneers for years. Eric did a first rate job of making my two front teeth replacement veneers look real, natural and quite frankly, stunning! He is the Leonardo Da Vinci of veneer creation! Dr. Mc Quitty and Dr. Madison are excellent and thorough doctors. Fernando is the BEST dental hygienist I have ever been to. He was patient and thorough. My teeth have never looked or felt better. Oh, and last but not least, the gal who took my x-rays gets a gold star because I have put off getting those bite wing x-rays for years due to a gagging reflex. Dr. McQuitty has the best modern dentistry equipment, too bad he is paying for it by making us pay the price, this includes making us pay for a separate exam. After finding out that I had to pay again to get him to check what he had done a couple of months prior during a routine exam I inquired "So, do we now have to make a separate appointment to get a Dental Exam With you?" His reply was "yes." I said "You really should let your patrons know about this ." The above items are just status quo for Dr.McQuitty-- What was really atrocious is that he put a new Crown on a molar which 5 months later the Maxillofacial Specialist said was 1/4 rotten and very loose. It had to be pulled without insurance money because Dr. McQuitty used the allotted amount on an already dead tooth. read more

Incredible service. Most advanced technology I've seen in a dental office. I went in to have an old crown stuck back on after it popped off. Dr McQuitty showed me why it couldn't be reused (it was broken on one side). I thought I'd have to make another appointment to go through the process of making a temp until the permanent crown could be made. But no. They simply started to work immediately. He even found some decay in an old filling under the crown. He took care of that and made me a new permanent crown on the spot. Amazing. From walking in with my old broken crown to walking out with a brand new one in place was just under an hour and a half. I'm beyond impressed. I was sorry that I had to buy a new crown (not cheap) but delighted to get it all done in one quick trip. The office staff was friendly and helpful. Overall a great visit. read more

Let me preface this review by stating that I used to group the grim reaper and dentists into the same category. I had traumatic experiences as a child with both my dentist and orthodontist, and now as an adult, have a hard time letting anyone probe around my mouth...that is until I met Dr. Pat. It had been some time since my last dental appointment, and I thought I was getting a cavity. I panicked and procrastinated dreading the thought of another dental experience. Some friends of mine mentioned their love for their dentist, and suggested I go see Dr. Pat. After some time, I booked an appointment and was able to get in relatively easily considering I was a new patient. The experience was as pleasurable as seeing a dentist can be. He and his amazing staff calmed my nerves, and took care of my three cavities gently, and quickly. I am forever grateful for this experience, and as the previous reviewer mentioned, it is worth traveling to see him. In fact, I currently live in Portland OR, and fly back annually for a dental vacation (if you can call it that) - He and his staff are that good! read more

I chose Patrick McQuitty, DDS, after reading reviews on Yelp ... And I wasn't disappointed. I've been there twice so far, once for a cleaning & x-rays, and once to have a crown taken off and replaced (done in one visit!). Overall feeling in the office: friendly, high-spirited, and reassuring. Competence level: clearly superb. Note: Dr. McQuitty's replacement of my crown involved zero pain, and it was a molar ! By contrast, I had had the other crown replaced a couple of years ago by another very well regarded Santa Fe dentist for the same price - it wasn't even a molar - and not only did it take two visits but there was a moment of howling agony. If you go to Dr. McQuitty, you probably won't ever go elsewhere. read more

Couldn't ask for more from a dentist! This guy is awesome. I have never left a dentists office feeling happy but I did yesterday. The staff is nice and professional, clean office, state-of-the-art. After receiving a treamtent plan a couple of months ago from another local dentist, I quickly went to Mexico to save some $$$$ (the quote was $8,000 to $9,000!!!!). As a follow-up, I went to Dr. Mcquitty on a friends recommendation. He approved the work done in Mexico, said I can wait the two months till my insurance kicks in for the rest of the work necessary and quoted me a mere $3000 (I did NOT have 5K worth of dental work done in Mexico). I cannot say enough about Dr. McQuitty! I was at ease within minutes of sitting in his chair, maybe cause he took the time to get to know me a little and ask about my concerns. I'm now a few months out from my very extensive dental work (3 crowns, 7 fillings) and yesterday my hair guy asked me for a referral to a dentist. I immediately recommended Dr. McQuitty, not only because my care was so thorough, painless and professional, but because this potential patient said he's avoided dentists for years. The absolute worst thing about going to the dentist is when they look in your mouth and say, "Wow. You really haven't taken good care of your teeth, have you?" There's no judgment here, just a very decent guy who wants to help you get back to having healthy teeth and gums in the quickest, easiest manner possible. I actually look forward to my appointments. I've had my share of dental work, but Dr. MqQuitty has been the best dentist I've had! The entire team is so friendly and fun, it's easy to forget that you're at the dentist. The office is immaculately clean and the technology is top notch. It's so convenient to have crowns done the same day! No temps and no extra appointment to put on the permanent crown. That's important for me as I live out of state. I get my dental work done while visiting my grandkids in Santa Fe. I highly recommend Dr. McQuitty for all of your dental care needs! How many dentists do you know that will come out to the car of an 86-year old patient in order to fit a custom bridge? All I can say is that because he did this, he not only gets the 5-star rating, but an extra gold star for going out of his way to accomodate my elderly aunt in her immobile state. Not only would he be my dentist of choice in Santa Fe, I would probably fly in for my appointment if I lived outside NM. I really lucked out, sort of. The good news is that this is a great, friendly group of people and Dr. McQuitty is a good caring dentist. The bad news is that I need to see a periodontologist. I'm visiting from Palm Springs, and his office is a few blocks from the vacation home I rented. I found him on Yelp. I called and spoke to Edward who made an appointment for the next day. After the doctor visit I thought I would get my teeth cleaned. The appointment was made, and two weeks later I returned. Just in time as my tooth was flaring up again. I leave for home in a few days, and I thought it best to see a periodontologist at home. The doctor provided me with some medication to take if the pain became overwhelming, and gave me some very solid advice on dental insurance. The fact that he's also tall and handsome doesn't hurt either. read more

FOLLOW UP: I had trouble with a cap Patrick McQuitty put on and ended up with a severe infection. If I had waited any longer, I would have had a serious bone infection, as well. He never cleaned the tooth properly and it was also ill-fitted even though he has the services right in his office. He didn't fit it correctly. The new dentist took off McQuitty's cap and it smelled horrible. The new dentist cleaned it out, but I had to pay all over again for a cap. Dental insurance wouldn't cover it twice. This is only one problem of many and this dentist is a quack. Surprising because the office is so nice and the equipment seems very up to date. I had three other opinions from TOP dentists and even endodontists in California. They all said it was very poor work and wouldn't even recommend having a cleaning there. I would stay far away. His expertise, high tech equipment and well-trained staff all contributed to making this experience timely and even fun. The front desk workers are friendly and comforting and helped me decide to go ahead with the procedure. My appointment with Dr. McQuitty was on June 8th, 2015. My dentist had left town, consolidating to his office in Albuquerque, and the reviews for Dr. McQuitty on Yelp were excellent. I had lost a filling, needed new x-rays, and also needed my teeth cleaned. I conveyed this information to the woman taking the appointment and she indicated I needed to arrive early for paperwork. When I arrived on time, I filled out the paperwork and subsequently had my teeth cleaned, but was informed I would not be seeing Dr. McQuitty that day. This was definitely unexpected news for me. Not knowing what to do, I made another appointment as I did need a filling, a check up, and updated x-rays. I told the office staff that I would have my prior x-rays sent to their office. After thinking about my experience, I decided Dr. McQuitty was probably not the dentist for me. When I called to cancel my appointment, I explained to the woman who answered the telephone the reason I was cancelling my appointment. She made it clear to me, she didn't care and wasn't interested. After my second unpleasant experience with Dr. McQuitty's office, I decided to google search Dr. McQuitty's dental practice. I quickly discovered some troubling facts about Dr. McQuitty and advise everyone reading this review to do a background search before making an appointment. The good thing about all of this is that I've discovered Dr. Chris Morgan and have had good experiences with him and his office staff. He may be the best dentist I've ever been to. read more

I believe Patrick is hands down the best dentist there is! My previous dentist in Santa Fe was retiring a few years ago, and I was looking for a new one. My partner remembered that a close friend of his was married to a dentist, and had heard he was fantastic. So I called the office that day and made an appointment. Patrick McQuitty is no question very friendly and he interacts well with his customers. My last visit - it wasn't a pleasant one and this is why it scored at 3. I had a cap that needs to be glued back on. When he put on and it didn't feel comfortable. He said it will be fine later on and I knew it wouldn't be fine. I had to "argue" with him when I know my own teeth! No doctor or dentist should challenge their own patient BUT to LISTEN their OWN customers/patients. They may not be right (or may be). Next time... LISTEN to your customers/patient. I decided to take my business elsewhere. And one last thing, my wife and I asked to keep our billing separate. Guess what? Our bill came into together and into one bill. I had to call them and they were like "it shouldn't be any problem with having one bill" Hello? We ASKED for a separate bill! read more

Dr. McQuitty is the best. He is so knowledgable & personable & so is his staff. I have severe TMJ & also needed several old fillings replaced. Since my jaw causes such problems we are having to go very slowly & replace the fillings one at a time. I am not able to open my mouth for long periods of time but Dr. Pat understands TMJ very well & does everything in his power to keep me comfortable. He has started me on Botox injections which have helped with the muscle spasms & tension headaches due to the TMJ. Dr Pat is an awesome dentist & so much more. Santa Fe is only a temporary stop but I plan to continue seeing Dr. Pat when we move. You can truly tell he enjoys what he does. read more

Not only is he a great dentist, able to do a cap in 45 minutes because he has such advanced technology, but he is an incredible human being. This past weekend my dearest friend flew in from New York for my birthday party. The morning of the party he texted me that he was in desperate need of a dentist. I sent him the link to Dr. McQuitty, but knowing that he was not in on Saturdays, I kept trying to find a dentist who was open, to no avail. A half hour later, my friend Stephen called me to say that Dr. McQuitty was picking him up at his hotel by the Plaza and driving him to his office to take care of him!!!!! My first coupla experience's with Dr. McQuitty (Dr.McCutie -Pie) where great. Sherry is super sweet and good at what she does. He is super handsome, funny, good at what he does, and awfully sweet, too. The office is nicely located in downtown SFe. I like them all, a lot. But--- my last visit was very similar to the negative review posted below by Cindy L. where after having my teeth cleaned, he was nowhere to be found.. had already split the office for the day. What? Therefore, I did not get seen by him... at all. Sooooo Santa Fe! Crazy, as I, too, had gone over all I needed with the front office gal when I made the appointment by phone. How did she miss that?? I would not have driven all the way there for a simple cleaning! I really NEEDED to see the dentist (a crown he had done was acting up--and I had TOLD the gal that.. and that it needed to be looked at by him again when I made the appointment)!! It seems they may be more interested in/concerned here with keeping the flow of income coming from cleanings than actual office visits with the dentist. Not sure why that is, but it's not good. Today I had a serious dental emergency. My front tooth split and was partially dangling. I was frantic. Having a long history with serious dental issues and having just moved to the Santa Fe area, I was extremely concerned about finding a dentist who could deal with all my problems. Dr. McQuitty's office told me to come in immediately, without an appointment, to handle my dental emergency. I went right into the examining room. Everyone on the staff was so kind and personable, efficient and professional. Dr. McQuitty did a thorough examination, explained all the possible options and the costs. Then he took care of my emergency painlessly, and skillfully. I know, I have been to dozens dentists and specialists over the years. I cannot tell you how relieved I am to know that from now on I have a fabulous dentist to handle my not insignificant dental needs. His office is conveniently located with street parking right in downtown Santa Fe. The space is very inviting and comfortable and has all of the state of the art dental equipment. I told him I was sensitive to epinephrine and it was clearly marked on my chart. I needed crown work and he injected the numbing agent deep into my gums and then left the room. I started to feel light headed and my heart was racing and my hands were shaking. When he breezed by in the hallway I called him in and told him what was happening. I said "you didn't give me the stuff with epinephrine in it did you? It's on my chart that I have a bad reaction. He blew it off by saying "It works better" and left the room again. He hadn't listened to me. He did what was easiest for him and didn't consider my discomfort. His message was that he knew better and what I stated was bad for didn't concern him, I think he's highhanded and not concerned with the patient's needs. Today the crown, which is only six months old, and which I am still paying for in installments, broke. I will find a new dentist now . read more
