Went on a Sunday morning. One table had a few customers waiting and hanging out. I was greeted by a friendly and welcoming young lady. I wasn't sure what I wanted so she gave me a few minutes and helped her coworker finish the drinks for the customers waiting. I ordered two drinks. One hot chai with a shot of espresso. DELICIOUS. *** straight legit coffee outta Compton *** ENVIRONMENT It's the city of Compton. Not much else to say unless you have been living as a recluse your whole life. Inside, the place is nicely decorated. It's fairly close to the 710 freeway. SERVICE The best around. Service with a smile under the mask. Constant movement. Making orders. Taking them out curbside. This place must stay pretty busy! MY FAVORITE PART... Their coffee. Just plain. No "fillers." Lol. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... So I ordered online from their website. Got an estimated time of like 15 minutes, so I'm still in Downey. BOOM. A minute later I get message saying my drink was already ready. Lol. I'll order when I get there next time. THE COFFEE I drink my coffee black almost every day. I've tried one of their roasts pre-COVID hell back in March 2020 at a place called The Nest in Bellflower. I stopped the waitress in her tracks and asked her where the hell the coffee was from because it was so good. She said Patria's in Compton... I bookmarked it that afternoon. It's organic coffee. Teas are also available. They have a variety of options on their website in addition to some other neat stuff: https://www.patriacoffee.com/ Then of course the other day I had to hit a curveball... ordered the cafe de olla with whole milk because I could. It was a sweet afternoon treat, but surprisingly good. They have pastries as well, but the one I really wanted - the banana loaf raspberry (vegan) - was out-of-stock. LITTLE YELPERS CLUB + they offer a "kids vanilla steamer" ($2.95)... it's 8oz. of their choice of steamed milk (whole, 2% low fat, oat milk, almond, soy or half/half) with sweet vanilla. PARKING Plenty of spaces on the side. Most curbside drivers just pull up beside the building. OVERALL Their roasts are robust and full. No weird aftertaste. I highly recommend it just plain black, but not many people I know take their coffee that way - they have plenty of other options - vegan ones too. Dropped in to get a cup of coffee after dropping my boyfriend off at work close by. The location is small, but very cute and cozy inside. I ordered the cafe de olla late because they were out of matcha and it was delicious. Barista was pleasant and helpful with suggestions since it was my first time there. read more

I was super excited to try this place based off the Yelp reviews. Ambiance was chill loved the plants and vibes inside. The coffee ... the cafe de olla latte was okay, for my liking I'd like it a tad more sweet. The other drink we got was the horchata slushee, which was wayyyy too sweet. Overall coffee was okay I'd say the best thing we got was the huge chocolate chip cookie ! read more

Easily one of my favorite coffee shops in LA. I stumbled upon this gem when I was eating in Watts and saw a sticker for Patria on that establishments door. I decided to Google and find out more and I learned that Patria is a coffee shop (and roaster!!!) that is black owned. Lucky for me. I started working in the area and was able to try it out. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Yoshi, in particular, was super helpful and always made me feel welcome when I would enter the shop. So much so that although I've only been in a handful of times, I've gotten to know him by name. I no longer work in the area but I still get my beans delivered to my home. The sad part about no longer being in the shop to enjoy their coffee is the kind folks that work there Oh!! and the plants! They also sell plants so I have several in my home that are from the coffee shop. Patria truly is a lovely find in the middle of Compton. Pro Tip: in the summertime, get the slushee read more

You know that first sip of coffee feeling you get on a gloomy day~the one that temporarily pauses all your thoughts and fills your soul with warmth? You get the same feeling when you walk into this coffee shop~Patria. Came in on a random Monday a little before noon for a coffee pick me up, and honestly was expecting it to be empty (considering the time), but when I entered felt a warm energy from the handful of customers in the space. Was immediately greeted by a fellow customer sitting at a table, barista greeted me, answered my questions, and helped me narrow down my choice. Went with the Cafe de Olla Flash Brew. The spicy and sweet was balanced, yet didn't overpower the search for the coffee flavor in my mouth, and refreshing. Didn't stay to drink, but before my hand pulled the door to leave, was greeted a last time with a kind goodbye which exuded a feeling of "we see you, thanks for coming, hope to see you again". The experience was definitely like the first sip of coffee~for a moment I was able to pause and walked out with a warm heart. And, three hours later (I drink my coffee slowly), this Cafe de Olla Flash Brew tasted just the same as the initial sip. This is probably the only place is Compton where you can get good coffee, and community feeling. Place looks nice and clean. The manager/owner lady is always there and she is very nice. I used to work in Compton and have never been disappointed by the coffee and food options here. I also bought a T-shirt too from this place. read more

My sister and I tried Patria Coffee Roasters and we weren't disappointed. We both got an Iced Vanilla Latte. Mine was with regular milk and my sister substituted the regular milk for oat milk. It was creamy and not overly sweet... in my opinion, it was delicious. I wish I could've tasted more of the vanilla though. I seldomly frequent this area, but if I did, I'd come here all the time. read more

I was in the Compton area and I had this place bookmarked to try, so I decided to stop by. It is a quaint little cafe. They play music softly in the background (a mix of RnB and Latin music)! They do have WiFi, just ask the barista for the password. This place is great if you just want to study, get work done, or just enjoy some coffee and the vibe. I ordered the honey lavender latte with Oat milk (hot). It was delicious! My barista brought it right over to me as I was reading my book. This is hands down one of my fave coffee shops. Whenever I'm in Compton I try to swing by here for the coffee cake (which is vegan, run don't walk) and to get some work done. The service is always , Greeted as soon as you walk in the door and a great place to get some work done. The playlists are always great too read more

Being a coffee person is easy, unfortunately finding great spots isn't always. Living in Gardena I must say one of the things missing is having really good caffeine around. Nothing a against Starbucks because you can find those anywhere but I like the single roasters best. We'll I found this spot in Yelp, duh, and decided to try it out. I was not disappointed. The coffee here was great. Great variety of options and they have indoor and outdoor seating. The location is pretty great too as it's the only business in the corner and easy to find. I purchased some of their whole bean coffee and can't wait to try it. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area. Really enjoyed their cafe de olla latte. read more

My first experience coming here to work was a little mixed, not great wifi, lack of accessible outlets, so I would say this isn't the *best* coffeeshop to get work done, although sometimes the Internet is fast and the productive vibe is right. However, as far as coffee and pastries go...as well as the homely atmosphere and customer service, Patria deserves all their five-stars and then some. When I come here, I feel like I'm taken care of like family. It's soulful and homey. Also super affordable with a parking lot to boot. The other day, someone was like "make sure you have something to eat before you drink your coffee on an empty stomach." That's something my grandma would say. So 5-stars...for reminding me of my grandma and the delicious coffee. read more

This coffee shop is lovely. The coffee is good, the atmosphere is good, the people are nice. However, they have sometimes baristas working that really shouldn't be on shift by themselves. It's Valentine's Day morning and i have been waiting for 10 minutes. It's a steady stream of maybe 2 people in line, but the barista will take so long to take everyone's orders then move in slow motion. There's a bottleneck of about 5 people waiting for their drinks - some here for way longer than me. It's just very inefficient. This makes me think Patria isn't a reliable place for a quick drink and is only somewhere I can come if I'm not in a rush - which isn't realistic most mornings. Sad, because I would've been a repeat customer. read more

We walked into Patria on a Saturday afternoon and ordered 3 Iced Ibarra Mexican Moch's with oat milk and they were yummy. We also picked up a School Coffee Cake and a Chocolate Chip Cookie. The cookie was a hit with the family! My husband and daughter were the only 2 to have ever had LAUSD coffee cake and mentioned Patria's version could use more coffee crumble. The tables were full with people meeting up, others working, and some reading. There seems to be a small selection of small business merchants who sell from the coffee shop. So you could easily grab a drink and a plant or gift. The parking may be a little tricky if the shop is full. I'm not familiar with this area and if we're ever back in the area we'd swing by for another iced mocha. read more

I take my coffee black. And here, it was a delicious. Darker roast with lots of great floral and sweet notes. A slice of their homemade coffee cake is the perfect compliment - super soft and moist with a little crunch on top. Outside, it reminded me of a barangay (neighborhood) in the Philippines where folks can just relax and tambayan (post up and hang out). Definitely warm neighborhood vibes - a mark of a beloved business. I felt welcomed and loved taking a moment to sit and enjoy the coffee inside. There's a nice selection of plants and books, too! Easily one of the best local coffee shops you can find. From roasting their own coffee beans to having an inviting atmosphere. I come often to enjoy my cafe de olla & chit chat with Jen at the register! One of my favorite coffee spots for their quality and service! Our go-to is the iced vanilla oat latte. I haven't had a chance to try anything else since that drink is literally perfection. It's a good balance between the strong espresso and the aromatic vanilla. One thing we noticed is that they make all their syrups in house and they're delicious! It's truly quality you can taste. It does take some time if you order in store, but you can bypass the wait by ordering online and it'll be ready when you arrive. read more

Cute little coffee shop. Plus, it's a local business! They showcase local artwork in the space. It gives it so much more character and I enjoyed reading at the mini stories & art they had on the wall when I came. There is a little parking lot outside as well as street parking. We came here with the intent of doing some work. Patria had free wifi, spacious tables, and outlets. The space itself is not that big, but if you come early or get lucky, it's a comfortable place to get some work done. I had an iced mocha with almond milk. I enjoyed that a lot. I didn't get to try any of the pastries yet, but plan to be back in the future to try them. The server/barista was very kind and knowledgable so we enjoyed chatting with him about the drinks as well. I ordered a chai latte with soy milk and really liked the taste of the chai. It was spicy and the flavors are really pronounced. I like to think that soy milk helps flavors come out more since the milk isn't heavy or creamy. It was a little over $6 for a small. Unfortunately, they ran out of pastries when I arrived (12pm on a Thursday) so that should tell you something. I'll have to come by early in the morn. They have limited outdoor seating but the inside is where you'll want to be. The walls are covered in art and history. It reminds me of a mom and pop coffee shop you'd come by in Brooklyn, NY. A family came in and got greeted, that was cute, probably regulars, their orders were taken and promptly made. Nice. But then the next ones also were getting made--huh? Where's mine? I thought they might have had some online orders? I was still sitting patiently in front of the pick up counter because I didn't want to bother the obviously busy lady that's super locked in. I worked in food before too, so sometimes I get that some tickets go in front of others and the steady locked in flow of the line was really cool to observe but this was a little bit too weird since--oh another one got his drink right after ordering. My husband finally regrouped with me inside because we also had ordered from the Fish grill, the order was done from fish grill, but I was still there wondering what happened to my drink from Nook--maybe syrups needed to be refilled? Maybe steeping tea?? Idk but at this point I was getting sad since I just saw another walk away with their drinks after just ordering. I sigh, my husband asks me what's wrong. I show him my phone showing the receipt of when I ordered and he noticed it's been a while and he also saw another walk away who just ordered with a drink in hand already. So he goes up to ask them if the island matcha came out. A guy from the line sees the order number, goes to their ticket tablet and makes my matcha drink in less than 5 seconds (I mean it, they're super quick). My husband beckons me to grab my matcha and I come up silently to grab it and leave with another sigh. Drink tastes great. Though the just making the drink quickly and not acknowledging/apologizing that something went wrong was kind of sad since I already felt disregarded in the first place. As I walked away I heard that my ticket just somehow didn't show up but sigh. I wish someone checked on me if I was waiting on anything. I know it's on me too for not speaking up, but I trusted the process. I thought they didn't forget about me. I was wrong. I burnt my favorite mixing bowl today, we got turned away from my fav restaurant for lunch because they were full and we just happened to be the one behind the last queue that got accepted today. I made yucky bitter matcha today. Went here to make my day better but it added more fuel to the fire. :C Sigh. See you in a while Nook. Me sad. Happy Mother's day to all moms today though.

This little coffee shop has a cool, retro vibe, tucked away from the city and more in the heart of a quieter, more local area. The space itself gives off a unique charm--it feels like a throwback, like something out of another time. It's definitely not your typical cozy, artsy coffee spot; it has more of that laid-back, "hidden gem" feel that makes it stand out in the best way. I've been there a few times now, but unfortunately, the coffee didn't live up to the vibe. The drinks just felt a bit off for me--too watered down, a little too milky. The ratios seemed off, and while the flavors weren't unpleasant, there was nothing that stood out enough to make me want to come back for more. I like that they're going for that unique, niche spot vibe, but for me, the coffee needs to pack more of a punch. It's a bummer because the space has so much potential to be a regular hangout spot, but the coffee itself didn't quite hit the mark. The pastries at this café were absolutely delightful--fresh, flavorful, and truly memorable. While I can't recall the name of the pastry I ordered, it was a sensation of taste with its luscious lemon crème center. The Americano coffee was a masterpiece--smooth, rich, and perfectly brewed. I also ventured to try the OatChata Slushie with a shot of espresso, and let me tell you--it's a must-have that I can't wait to return for! The service was exceptionally quick and welcoming, making the experience even better. Conveniently located right by Compton's MLK Transit station, this café is an ideal spot for a quick stop before catching the train to downtown.
