So today was my first time trying pasty Wow just wow . The lady that runs this shop is awesome so nice . Now for the pasty's I had the beef and the cordon bleu tried with and with out the gravy so amazing either way you can't go wrong I will be going back to try every one of them thank you for my new favorite food in Englewood. My first time trying Pastys (pronounced Pass-Tees). While in Englewood I read some good reviews and wanted to check them out. It's a small little shop. If you blink, you'll miss it. Lady inside was super friendly and answered all our questions. They only take cash or check so make sure to carry some before visiting. The shop is small and quaint, a couple of tables only. We tried the Original Pasty and the Potato Corn soup and had to try one of their Sprecher Root Beers which was amazing. The Original Pasty has ground beef, ground pork, potato, rutabaga along with onions. It was a good size portion. And it came with a brown gravy sauce for dipping. My wife and I both thought it was good. For our pallets it needed more seasoning and maybe more of a crisper crust. But maybe in our minds we were comparing it to a Cuban Empanada as we'd never had a Pasty before. The soup was really hearty you could taste the love and time spent to develop flavor. I loved the mom and pop feel of the place. Everything felt homemade and we were well taken care off. I would come back on that alone. If in Englewood I would definitely give The Pasty Shop a visit. read more

First time in today after reading the other reviews here. Staff was extremely kind and informative. I went with the original for my first try. It was delicious and very filling. I would've preferred a more meat heavy ratio to potatoes but that's nitpicking. Ingredients were fresh and it was very tasty. Some of their other options are only offered certain days. I've picked up frozen take out pasties a few times now. The ease of reheating pasties at home makes this a great choice for last minute dinners. The pasties have consistently been excellent and reheat well with easy to follow directions on each package of two. The crust is tasty and flaky, filling choice for a beef pasty is totally traditional U.P. with top notch ingredients. Just tried their "chicken" which was very good. Be sure to ask fo a little side of gravy to compliment this option. Overall, a good offering for a little store in Englewood that I would drive out of my way to find. read more

A pasty, pronouncced pahs-tee, is similar to a meat pie. Usually filled with rutabeggas, onions and a meat, then dipped in a gravy afterward. They are reasonably priced and even half of one is plenty for a meal. You can buy them fresh or frozen, which is fantastic. We always prefer to support small businesses. I went to the Pasty Shop on a word of mouth recommendation. My experience is not similar to others. The service was quick, friendly and professional. I just didn't find the chicken pasty to be good enough for me to want to try another. I found it way too salty flavored. It almost seemed as though I was biting into a Marie Callender chicken pot pie with a few additional ingredients and A LOT more sodium added. So much so I couldn't really taste anything else. There only seemed to be a few pieces of chicken in it. And the gravy wasn't really gravy. I'm sure it was homemade, but it just seemed like strained Campbell chicken noodle soup in texture, flavor, and color. I'm glad I tried it once, but didn't care for it enough to want again. read more

Amazing little shop. Driving on the antique road and found this shop on Yelp. What a treat. Best Pass-tee ever. The Pasty is a meat pie from Cornwall England. My mom-in-law has lived in England and said these where delicious. The Sprecher Sodas where perfect (I picked cherry cola because it is my daughters favorite) to go with the Pasty. After we ate in, they where Soo good we order the beef, steak and chicken pasty to go. Definitely coming back when we are in the area again.
