Very tasty meat pies and that gravy was the finishing touch. Even the potato salad was delicious. Good customer service. The only downside is that it's small and nowhere to eat your food. But I still highly recommend it!

Went to grab my husband pasty's because he was craving it but unfortunately the meat was undercooked. I had to bake it myself at home. This is the second time it happens:/

This is one of the landmark staples I've been going to for years -- first in their original location in Los Alamitos, and now in Cypress. This location is bigger, but it does carry over the open kitchen set up, and the to-go-only format. What greets you once you enter, besides the sight of busy bakers kneading and filling pasties, is that comforting aroma of roasted onions laced with black pepper. The humble pasty is the Brits' complement to other cultures' meat pies -- think of empanadas, pupusas and samosas -- but this one has a heftier crust to safely secure a denser filling -- it's crammed with chicken or beef, potatoes, carrots, onions, and spices. They're quite portable, meant to be eaten on-the-go -- a nod to their humble origin as miners' food. I find the filling too dry for my taste -- it's unlike a pot pie after all, so it's best to get a small cup of their savory brown gravy to go with it. The regularly sized pasty is quite hearty, but it also comes in a large size just in case you can't get enough of it. Pasty Kitchen also offers soups, salads, cookies, and turnovers -- but it's hard to make room after getting filled like a miner of old. Five stars to the British pasty, for being authentic -- and functional at the same time!

I've been a fan of Pasty Kitchen and visited the original location in Los Alamitos for years. I'm glad this new location opened up--plenty of parking with the same quality, and friendly service. Every pasty pie tastes homemade and very filling. My favorite is the chicken pasty, but I also enjoy beef and specials like Italian and turkey pasties. I always get a large chicken gravy to add extra flavor and moisture to each bite. The beef gravy is also perfect for the beef pasty. The small size is ideal for me as a meal. There are also salads to pair with the pasty pies. I recently got the macaroni salad, and although I prefer a creamier version, this was enjoyable. You can't forget the cookies and dessert pies that satisfy a sweet tooth. Frozen pies are also available occasionally to warm up throughout the week. Inside, you can see the staff working hard and a counter display with some goodies, but there aren't any seats inside or outside. The only options are to take out, eat in your car, or relax at a park nearby. I am happy to support this long-standing, local business.

Small corner shop with a clean, organized kitchen. The cashier was super friendly, gave great recommendations, and even added gravy for my first pasty experience. I tried the chorizo pasty, corned beef pasty, and an oatmeal cookie. The cookie was perfectly sweet with a nice spice balance. The chorizo pasty was bland and under-seasoned, but the corned beef one was flavorful and paired great with gravy and mustard. Overall, a great bakery--I get the hype and would come back to try more.

After running some errands, it just happened that Pasty Kitchen was right next door! We had to go in, eventhough we just had breakfast. Oink. We picked the special pasty of the day: Chorizo - loaded with chorizo and potato, piping hot and delicious Italian - this reminded me of an Italian beef sandwich with potatoes! So good! Major carb overload but they also had the best broccoli salad which balanced out the snack (or meal) well. We also picked up a Cherry pie was a must as I was totally hankering this past week. Loved this! The cherries were tart, my preference. Great with a latte. Note: So, when Luis put so much care into wrapping up our order, it made me doubly happy to support our neighborhood business. Service was super friendly. PSA: make room in your freezer. Then look for the frozen promo for deals at Pasty!! We come back real soon!

First timer! We were greeted as soon as we walked in and shown all the options. We ordered a variety of Pastys. We were told Beef is their most popular so we ordered 2 small Beef - They were great! 1 small Corned Beef & Cabbage- I loved it. 1 Italian sausage -It was ok just not as good as the Beef or Corned beef. We also ordered a cherry and a peach Pasty both great We ordered some cookies as well Chocolate chip and 2 oatmeal. Both great! Almost forgot I am a potato salad lover and try it anywhere I go so of course Pasty kitchen had their own I needed to try. It was definitely homemade and fresh it was ok. Pretty basic but you could tell it was fresh. All in all we will be back! Im waiting to try the Seasonal Turkey Cranberry and Stuffing Pasty

All I can say is YUM!! I wish this was closer!! Having a pasty while it's hot & fresh and dipped in gravy was one of the best things I've ever eaten!! You can't beat super friendly service and high quality ingredients that you can taste! Love all the cute decor too!! Only problem is that there is no indoor seating- you'll have to enjoy your pasty's in the car!!

What a cute little place! After driving past repeatedly for work, I needed lunch and knew this was a place for me to try. It's a small little shop but there is plenty of parking available in the shared area. Walking up to the door, I noticed a sign on the door showing they have a seasonal turkey pasty with gravy available, so I figured I should try that! Inside it's very small, just big enough for a couple customers at the counter. There is no indoor seating, and instead most of the interior is their kitchen. This is a grab-and-go place. The man at the register was so nice, and especially when I told him it was my first time here, he helped with answering my questions and recommending popular menu items. I ended up ordering the turkey pasty with gravy, a beef pasty, and a cup of broccoli salad. He asked if I wanted gravy with the beef pasty so I asked him if he recommends it with the gravy. He said he would include one for me to try! That was really kind of him, and contributed to the tip I left for his generosity. Everything was delicious and priced well. Turkey pasty with gravy: this had a mix of what I think was ground turkey, herbs and spices you typically use at Thanksgiving, I think some cranberry bits? I'm not sure but it tasted like Thanksgiving. It was good and the gravy was tasty as well! This was not as good as the beef pasty though, so I give it 4/5 stars. Beef pasty: This one is a classic and came recommended on Yelp and by staff, and I can see why! This ended up being my favorite of the two, delicious both with and without the gravy! 5/5 stars Broccoli salad: I am usually cautious of deli sides most places but the man assured my everything is made fresh in house, so I decided I would try this. It is made with fresh broccoli, golden raisins, and I think little walnut or pecan bits all in a lightly sweetened dressing. I was surprised at how much I liked this! I got it so I could actually eat something green since I'm not always great at doing that, and now this may become a repeat purchase on future visits! 4/5 stars Definitely worth a visit for friendly service, delicious food, and a nice warm comforting meal as we slip into some cooler weather! I can't wait to bring my family here with me.

Broccoli summer squash red skinned potatoes

Fresh vegetable is amazing still good after all these years. Recently also had a frozen large beef which had carrots and onions. In addition... I would order both again stick to the fresh. Mike the owner is a nice guy. This location was bigger no seating though. Next time I would get the Italian.

We also order their award winning fish and chips, we got the cod. It was ok. Not too sure about "award winning". But it was good. My son got the fish bite and chips from the Little Buccaneers menu (12 and under). It came w/a drink and an ice cream sundae. It was a good portion for a 9 year old. He said it was good! Our server was nice and smiley, but unfortunately our food and even our drinks took a while. Maybe cause it was busy, but luckily our server was cheery and friendly, it kind of made up for it. Overall, this place is pretty cool. Would I come here again? Possibly. But honestly I thought this place was just ok.

Hits the spot!!!…read more This was one of my Mother's last meals before she passed away and I'm so happy that she enjoyed this lovely place. I even went back months later for myself. We don't really have fish fry spots in Irvine besides California fish grill or OC fish grill(they pissed me off the first last visit so that's a different story.) Anyway, I love to support mom and pop over corporate eats any day. The service is good and the menu is straight forward. Great portions and super fresh eats. I honestly don't have any complaints. I'm not an English fried fish connoisseur so I can't compare but this meal hits and its solid! I'll definitely be back and please support your local small business:)

The storefront is almost hidden on the right side of the food hall and can be easy to miss if you're not looking for it. There was no wait, and I was able to order right away. They gave me a beeper, and I was able to find a nearby table without any trouble. I ordered the Fish N Chips, which was a generous portion. It came with two large pieces of fish that were nicely fried. The batter wasn't too thick, and the fish itself was tender rather than overly flaky or hard. The texture and overall quality were good, but it was a bit lacking in flavor, even with malt vinegar and tartar sauce. The steak fries were crispy and not overly salty, which I enjoyed. Overall, the meal was average. With limited fish and chip options nearby, it's still a decent choice if you're in the area and craving it.

I made reservations for our party and this was my friends first time dining at Lawry's sister restaurant. Founded in 1965. I haven't been here recently, but it hasn't changed a bit and is still a cozy and comfortable place to dine. We started off with a bottle of cabernet, complimentary bread, and two of their Pride of the Crowns salads. Since it was my friend's birthday I steered him into ordering the 16 oz Henry VIII Cut, cream corn, Cremini Mushrooms, Yorkshire pudding and spinach. I went with the same meal, and the prime rib was one of the best I've had in a long time. Tender and tasted great even when I pan fried my leftover prime rib. Five Crowns' interior is rustic and warm and definitely on theme. The tables had Lawry's seasoning and pepper in their original packaging. It's on brand, but it looks out of place and doesn't match the dollar signs. Another detail that doesn't match is their nonalcoholic drink named lychee labubu. It's not very British and an outdated trend now. Regarding the prime rib dinner, the meat was tender and flavorful for all cuts: California, crown, and English. It was all served to our preference. The whipped horseradish was delicious, I should've asked for more. The au jus was perfect, so decadent and savory. The sides were ok. I honestly expected better flavor or something innovative. The creamed spinach was very dense and savory. The creamed corn was better, but didn't taste fresh. The Yorkshire pudding was scrumptious and crispy. Their menu focuses on more bourbon cocktails, so I chose a Pimm's cup instead. It was refreshing and balanced with cucumbers and fruits. The service was spectacular and above satisfactory. Our server, Michelle, communicated with us that our appetizers will be served later, because of quality control. She was polite and very helpful explaining popular dishes and portion sizes. I would give her service 5 stars! This is definitely a special occasion restaurant for me. Maybe I will try Side Door before returning to Five Crowns.
