London Chippy, If you have ever visited Australia or the UK, you must have tasted Fish and Chips. Yes, it can be so good if done correctly. This place does not disappoint. It is a little Kiosk located in a small mall on Michelson Drive near the airport. I ordered two fish and chips. They came to me piping hot and delicious. The chips were crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. I could not taste any grease. The fish was exceptionally good. They give you fresh lemons, vinegar, and tarter sauce. The portions were large. Only one thing to note, you have to eat your fish and chips within the next twenty minutes or everything gets soggy. I came at night, the doors were open and there were no tables to sit at. The eating environment is not very comfortable. The drink machine was broken. Some heaters, some nice tables, close those open doors, and offer more drink options, play some nice music, and this place would have earned a very prestigious Five Stars.
What a gem, London Chippy! I was looking for something other than a Sammie or salad for lunch and found this place! The fish was fantastic -- lightly battered, perfectly crispy, and served in satisfyingly big hunks. The platter came with a nice order chips (a healthy portion!) plus we ordered the onion rings, and everything hit the spot. A little pricey for fast casual - lunch for 3 was $56 inc tip. But then again... it's tough to find a good fish n' chips joint locally. It's a bit tucked away and quirky to find, but will I come back? Probably yes -- and gladly!
I've been craving fish and chips and London chippy popped up. The fish itself is flaky and the batter is light. The chips are cut like British style and more soft which is my preference of fries. The shrimp po boy was also pretty good, the flavor of tomato and lemon citrus worked well with the sauce and the shrimp. The owner was very nice and threw in a fried chicken and it was also good, the batter is thicker but I would say the fish and shrimp is a must try.
We've been craving fish and chips for a bit - and can't buy frozen anything good - came across this and boy did we thoroughly enjoy this experience. First off - if u haven't been to the marketplace- go it's adorable and has great options. Awesome fish and chips - like when I was in London. Amazingly crispy and great, thick pieces of cod with some malt vinegar. Yummy steak fries. But oh boy- try those chippy garlic fries - I've never loved so much garlic in my life! I had some shrimp- and my guy had some chicken. Nomnomnom. Onion rings were great too. So not hesitate - next time I'll try the mushy peas. We will most definitely be back ! (Very friendly and informative staff too)
RIP London Chippy! I'm super sad to see that this place closed down. Unfortunately, my frequent patronage wasn't enough to keep London Chippy alive. I'll miss those delicious Fish n Chips.
The onion rings and fish and chips are delicious. The beer batter really stands out and it does taste like real fish and chips from the UK. I would say it even tastes a bit better because of the frying and beer batter. Both of the items tasted super fresh and I really liked how they kept the same elements of having vinegar as a condiment. The service is quick and there is plenty of seating. It can get a bit busy with the parking lot but other than that I recommend this place
The Fish and Shrimp and Chips was good. I ordered an additional piece of fish but it was not necessary. The batter is nice and light. The shrimp was great. Interesting thing about the fish... one piece was nice and light, while the other piece was very dense. Unfortunately I didn't like their sauces. The cocktail sauce and the tarter sauce were not that great. I guess next time I'll get 2 big sides of ketchup and some malt vinegar to dip everything into. I need to remember to get a cup of water in addition to a can of Coke.
That was delicious! Fried food never tasted so good, clean and fresh. Paid $14+tax for 3 tacos. Fair enough pricing. Ordered 2 fish 1 shrimp. Was told it'd be about 7 minutes and received a buzz tag. Nailed it! Liked shrimp, loved fish. Had some nice spice that I didn't expect. Seemed from a salsa lining the tortilla. Some tortillas tore apart, but I coped and ate it all. Came with fresh large lemon slices. Very filling portion - didn't need more or less. Tasted fantastic with the Anaheim brewed Mexican lager from the beer counter right outside of London Chippy. I'd definitely eat this food again if I'm back in the area. Part of a large, open-air dining area with a men's separate from women's restroom available to patrons of all the eateries. They're kept fairly clean. Though most of the stalls are uber tiny. Weird note to end a review but it's what it is. I recommend London Chippy!
London Chippy has been on my radar since my husband mentioned that he missed having proper fish & chips. His dad grew up in Yorkshire so he spent a good amount of time in the UK. Fish & chips is a common menu item in the UK. I had run a search and I knew of a few possible contenders but London Chippy was at the top of the list. As you may or may not already know, London Chippy is located at the food hall called TRADE in Irvine. Parking can be hard to find during lunch but we went during dinner and it wasn't bad. We went over there with our dog since the food hall is semi-outdoors. The patio is dog-friendly. We ordered the Fish N Chips ($15) and asked for a cup of water. The fish is fried fresh to order. You get two big pieces of battered cod. The batter is light and crispy, not soggy. The chips are proper steak fries with a good amount of crisp too. They have Heinz malt vinegar at the counter as well as ketchup. We went to town. My husband was very pleased. He would give London Chippy 10 stars if he could.
The positives: the portions are generous and it was overall very tasty. The negatives: this is a good hall, so the prices feel high for a basic fish and chips. Soda machine was broken so they only had soda cans. The parking lot was a nightmare to navigate.
I was craving fish and chips one afternoon weekend and I found London Chippy in my recommendations. London Chippy is located in a plaza with a built-in outdoor food court. You can find it walking past the outdoor bar. I ordered upfront for the classic fish and chips. First impressions, the fish is HUGE. Not humongous, but pretty big! I don't think they add enough tartar sauce for those of you ordering to-go so be sure to see if you can get more. One thing is that the ketchup pump at the front was completely empty so I wasn't able to pack up as much ketchup as I wanted. The two piece fish and chip meal I ordered was enough to fill me up. I'd highly recommend stopping by here if you're ever curious or hungry for fish and chips.
I don't say this lightly, but by far the best authentic fish n chips and tartar sauce in Orange County! Nothing compares to the quality of fish and consistency of the fry! This is a must if you want to indulge in fried foods! Even their tartar sauce is spot on! Their fries aren't my favorite type when it comes to comparing different types, but perfect for the style of old fashioned thick potatoey chips from London! Will not disappoint!
We were really looking forward to trying this place after we were disappointed at another fish place in Anaheim. This stall is located past the bar. We arrived on a weekday afternoon during the lunch hour.We rang the bell at the front for the staff to come out to the counter. The fish itself seemed to be a high-quality fish however, the batter was not very crispy and it seemed kind of dense and did not have a whole lot of flavor. The fries seemed like the bottom of the barrel with tiny little bits that were maybe an inch long. They were more of those small pieces than actual fries that were of normal length. I've had better frozen fries at home in my air fryer. We're probably not returning unless we were totally craving it and starving. Maybe we will give it another try.
Came here for lunch on a Friday around 1:30pm. I had never been to this plaza by the airport before and was a little worried about parking based on other reviews, but there were plenty of open spots when I arrived. The storefront is almost hidden on the right side of the food hall and can be easy to miss if you're not looking for it. There was no wait, and I was able to order right away. They gave me a beeper, and I was able to find a nearby table without any trouble. I ordered the Fish N Chips, which was a generous portion. It came with two large pieces of fish that were nicely fried. The batter wasn't too thick, and the fish itself was tender rather than overly flaky or hard. The texture and overall quality were good, but it was a bit lacking in flavor, even with malt vinegar and tartar sauce. The steak fries were crispy and not overly salty, which I enjoyed. Overall, the meal was average. With limited fish and chip options nearby, it's still a decent choice if you're in the area and craving it. read more
London Chippy has the best fish and chips in OC that I've tried! For $16, you get two big pieces of cod on top of thick cut fries and tartar sauce. Malt vinegar is also available. I like that the fish is lightly battered so it's not as greasy. The fries were good too, if not a little on the salty side. I wanted to eat them all but had to stop myself from clogging my arteries further. Oddly enough, they also have Mexican food (which I am kind of fascinated by). Maybe I'll branch out and try that next time. Maybe. There's covered outdoor seating in TRADE. Parking can be challenging if you come during a week day during lunch. read more

Please update your business hours! It says open Sunday's at 11am. But when we got there today, there's a note that's says opening at 1pm every Sundays. There were people also waiting for this spot to open. Fish, Shrimp and Fries - 4/5 - shrimp was good. Fish was lacking some flavor. Chicken and Fries - 3/5 - it was okay. Came across this place because of TikTok and my husband is a big fan of fish n chips. Overall, the food is okay. It's fresh but flavors can be better. read more

I'm officially hooked! Quite possibly the best Fish N Chips I've ever had. London Chippy is serving up perfectly crispy fried fish and chips. Their signature dish features two large pieces of fried cod on a bed of steak cut fries. It's served with a lemon wedge, their homemade tartar sauce, and a side of malt vinegar for that English flair. The fish tasted so fresh and tender. The thin batter was perfectly crispy and not too oily which was a huge win in my book. I'm absolutely, irrevocably in love with steak cut fries and was over the moon to find out that this was their fry shape of choice. Am a huge fan of getting to experience both the crunchy outside and the steamy soft inside. The malt vinegar was a game changer for me. I don't think I can have Fish N Chips without it from now on. It add such a nice acidity that enhanced all the flavors nicely. I usually can get sick of fried foods rather quickly, but a dash of this made everything taste so addicting. If you haven't tried out malt vinegar yet, you MUST! read more

Located in a corner of the Trade Food Hall, London Chippy is serving up some of the best Fish n Chips I've ever had! I got their signature Fish n Chips which comes with 2 pieces of fried cod and chips underneath. You get a lemon wedge and tarter sauce on the side. They also offer malt vinegar on the side if you want to put it on top of your fish n chips! The batter on the fish was crispy, light, and not too oily or burnt. The fish inside was flavorful and tender. The chips were crispy and some of the best I've had when it comes to the British way of doing fries and pairing them with the fish was a great combo. The homemade tarter sauce was delicious and dipping it with the fish was amazing. The cashier was friendly and answered any questions I had about the menu and it was overall lively around the shop as it was dinnertime when I went and plenty of people were roaming around. If you are a fan of fish n chips, you have to come here to this spot and check them out! They are making delicious food here and I can't wait to come back soon. read more
Found a hidden gem. Small but mighty, London Chippy serves really fresh and delicious fish. I was a bit skeptical at first considering the location but ended up pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. The fish didn't have a fishy taste or smell and it was flaky and perfectly seasoned. The garlic fries are a must try and so are the onion rings. The service was friendly and the food arrived very fast. Lots of seating since the place is inside a food court. read more

Sad to say I have to agree with the recent reviews. Something has changed and the food isn't what it used to be like. Yes they still give large flaky pieces of cod, but the batter wasn't crispy and the fries weren't as good as before either. Fries lacked the seasoning and crispiness it used to have, and there were less overall. If I'm eating a whole meal of deep fried food it better be worth it, and for me it was not so I'd probably won't be back. read more

While I have been a loyal customer to London Chippy over 12 times over the past year, this current and previous visit (a few months ago) have been a disappointment. The fish in their popular Fish & Chips has shrunk by at least two to three ounces - shrink anymore and it will become a fish stick!!! Also, the chips (thick cut french fried potatoes) are not seasoned evenly because it is a mixture of old and new fries - just like the last time. Their tartar sauce no longer taste homemade since it came from a store bought sauce...keep it up and you will definitely lose this customer!!! read more

Run don't walk if you want authentic fish and chips just like in the UK or Ireland. This place is tucked into the Trade food hall in Irvine but it is not hard to choose what to get. The servers are so friendly! Honestly they were the only ones that were at the service counter. You'll see most empty even when you start ordering off the iPad, so it makes a difference! The ambiance is great for a Friday afternoon or anyway really. I'm speaking for the whole food hall. It's usually popping with some tables filled but rarely full unless there is an important game on in the bar area. read more

What oil do they cook in?
Do they serve "proper chips" ? Not frozen ones.
Freshly fried chips (to die for)
Are your Chips (aka fries) made daily from Fresh Cut Potatoes ? or Frozen ? Thanks .
They tasted fresh fried for sure!
Do you have chip butty and musy peas?
Peas would be a good suggestion as a new side dish, as long as it is not deep fried. The fish is delicious. 🙂🇬🇧
