    The Grind

Great location on Alberta. Easy walk up and ordered service. The menu was perfectly split between cold and hot options. I ordered the Grind to go. It was the perfect sandwich. Held up well for the quick drive home.

Split the OG with my friend. It is quite a big sandwich and so full of meat and vegetables. Super filling and so delicious. I cannot taste the nuts. I'm sure it added to the flavor. Be ready to lick your fingers because it's that good

Have been craving a deli sandwich and decided to give this whole animal sandwich shop a try, plus I had to get my hands on a lard cookie ---the grind: mortadella & salami sandwich made hot in the oven! Yummy I just wished the crusty bread didn't sog up so quickly, it was already soggy when we opened the wrapper, and we ate it at the restaurant ---lard cookie: crunchy hazelnuts, didnt notice a huge difference but it didnt have as prominent of a buttery flavor Would come back if in town and wanted a good sandwich

    Bread soaked through and inedible.

Ordered the Rueben, and in the 10 minutes it took me to get it home, the bread was soaked through with wetness and was completely inedible from all the grease and cabbage juice. Such an expensive sandwich just to wind up tossing half of it.

This place has been on my radar for soooooo so long and I am so very happy it stayed there until I found the time to visit them with a proper empty stomach - YUM. I'm getting hungry again just thinking about their hearty, good-quality sandwiches. Counter service was easy to navigate and there was plenty of interior-only seating for us to choose from. We also noted many locals ordering their food to-go so this was definitely the spot to be on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Each bite was balanced and organized to perfection. Will continue to keep these folks on my short list when I'm seeking a good ole sandwich.

I got the C.O.G. It was one of the better meals of my life. - It had chicken, cabbage, pickled peppers, pickled, onions, pickled cabbage, chili oil, and aoli. - The cabbage was fantastic. I am often hesitant to order things with cabbage because sometimes I don't like cabbage. I don't like when it's watery or has a distinct cabbage-y flavor. This didn't. It was just crunchy and satisfying. It kinda served as a vessel for delivering the other flavors. - The flavors were intense. Which is what I like. Lots of acid coming through from the pickled peppers, onions and carrots. That was probably the primary flavor. I actually am usually not a fan of pickled flavors either, but this time I was. - The sandwich was properly salted. Which is essential and underrated. Salt often just brings out the flavors of the other ingredients rather than making it actually taste salty. This sandwich had enough salt to do that, and then went a bit beyond so that you can taste some actual saltiness in the bite, which I thought was just the right amount. It was more of a secondary or tertiary flavor in the background, but it was also enough to notice. - I really liked how the fat from the chili oil and aoli balanced and mellowed things out while also providing a nice mouthfeel. - The chicken was fantastic. Which makes sense since they're also a butcher shop (I think? Wikipedia and some other sources say they are.). Very tender. Seems like they sous vide it. - The bread was also very good. Fresh. Soft in the inside, nice thin crunch on the exterior. It was so good that I ordered a second after I finished the first. Life is short. They say you should do things that make you happy. Well, I enjoyed the second as I was eating it but felt extremely full afterwards, so I wouldn't do that again. Which is to say that the first sandwich really did a good job of filling me up. Which is important, because I eat a lot and have a big appetite. So at $16.50, that's an incredible value if you ask me.

The bread was a perfect mix of squash and crunchy. The meat was packed in the middle surrounded by coleslaw mixture. The Bah'n Mi pastrami was pretty darn tasty. Counter service ordering and they bring it to your table. Not a huge restaurant, seats about 20. Farmhouse decor matching the farm to table food. Street parking is residential only.

Got 2 sandwiches & a Cookie Chicken bahn mi, few pieces of chicken were boiled, bland, and with slimy skin. The bread was wet, I ended picking at the cabbage and thats it. Pastrami bread was soaked and wet. Just picked at the little bit of meat and cheese. Cookie was in bad plastic as well. Did not eat it, discarded it. Really surprised with the pricing. It happens trying out new places. Also, not cool to have a cell phone on the cutting board where sandwiches are being prepared.

Meatball sandwich has sliced meatball meat - unique.

They have two bread options and were out of one the day we went but didn't matter. Tried the meatball sandwich which has sliced meatball meat and lots of slaw and some cheese. Husband really enjoyed it. I got a chicken and bacon sandwich, I left off some of the toppings and they were okay with that. Good quality meat and it tasted good. Generous sized sandwiches but did finish them. They don't offer half sizes. The only thing that could have been better was the service. That day they didn't have a dedicated person taking orders. So you had to wait for one of the two people prepping food. The guy who took our order was moments before handling raw chicken. I am sure he washed or removed gloves or something but just wasn't efficient and the line was growing. Nice space inside to sit and eat. Will come back again and then walk around on Alberta street again.

One of the best cookies ever.

Can't believe I'm dropping $16.50 for a sandwich, but when I read this one year from now that price will probably be considered the norm. This is an upper echelon sandwich spot as it's also a mini butcher shop. I enjoyed the The Toro - braised beef/adobo - it was mouth melody good. I do wish the Dos Hermanos bread was more toasted though. The bigger star of today's experience was the half lard, half butter chocolate hazelnut cookie. Oh my, one of the best I've had! And the $3.50 price is actually close to value. You scan a QR code for the menu and get your own water and utensils. And sometimes they have sides, sometimes they don't. It's a pretty people on laptops kind of place. Sit at the window for a scenic eating experience.

Inside is dark and cozy, perfect for a rainy afternoon or evening. My only complaint is there is a lot of wood and all the hard surfaces don't reflect noise so it's sometimes challenging to hear. They have a wonderful assortment of wines and not all local. For me, that's a good thing. Yes I love a Willamette Valley Pinot or a Washington Cabernet, but I get a lot of those when I'm visiting these areas, which I do frequently. At Muse you can enjoy a red from France, Spain, Italy, as well as local. Lots of whites and some bubbles, too. You can do a tasting of three half glass pours of your choice, or order a glass. Some nights they have tastings that they have preselected. Last night, based on Alex's recommendation, after telling him my preferences, I had the 2021 Crozes-Hermitage from Paris. It was a bigger red, but so smooth. Next I went with the Rioja Gran Reserva which was more fruit forward. Another winner. Their cheese and jam plates are fabulous, the cheese especially delicious, and pair perfectly with the wines. Have a feeling I'll be back frequently to this charming neighborhood wine since my friend works out next door, so it's a perfect meeting spot.

I order 4 half glasses and everything paired perfectly with the food. I came here on Sunday ($2 per oyster) and the wines were excellent and the food surprisingly good. MUST GET: - oyster with champagne from romaine guiborat. - hamachi crudo - roasted maitake paired with local orange (Buona Notte mortadella from Columbia George in Washington). Maitake was served with pinenut and rice crumble, which was delightful. I put the sauce with hamachi crudo in the roasted maitake and it elevated the taste. It can use a bit more balsamic vignegrette or lemon juice to elevate the mushroom taste even more. - dessert wine (2021 romaine ogereau, chenin blanc) was delightful. Very balanced. Subtle sweetness with perfect balance of citrus notes. A bit of apricot on the nose. A fine ending to the delightful dinner. Solid: Spaghetti with morel. Paired with 2023 Bruno verdi from oltrepo pavese Italy. I really liked the pecorino cheese that tempered the salty-ness of the spaghetti. I think the food would be better with a bit less oil.
