    Yellowtail toast

We visited here after reading about their standout mussels in the New York Times. Unfortunately the mussels were only available for a few weeks so that dish was long gone by the time we went. The restaurant is quite small with a larger function area in the back. We ordered 2 glasses of wine which were good. The focaccia with bone marrow was excellent. The yellowtail toast was outstanding. I would come back just for that. The beef tartare was good. They ran out of clafoutis for dessert so we got something else. At the end of our meal we had a lovely chat to the owner about business and his dishes which was a nice way to finish off the meal.

I went here for a nice, romantic Valentine's Day dinner and the experience is pretty great. We made reservations a few weeks in advance just in case, for 9pm which is about the time it takes to comfortably drive from Seattle after work. We did arrive 30 min early to the reservation but they were able to accommodate us. We got the option to sit in the main room next to the entrance or the annex with a movie playing, but we opted to sit in the main room for the full ambience despite it being cold with people coming in and out. We got a white wine, red wine, and orange wine to try. The server brought out tastings for each to confirm we liked it before committing to the wine glass, which is nice. For food, we got a few dishes to share. The mushrooms kind of reminds me of French onion soup. The young yellowtail toast is very fresh and has nice tartness. It is a bit on the pricey side but the yellowtail sashimi is so fresh. The focaccia with bone marrow butter is decent; the bread is quite hard and a bit overcooked but the butter is delicious. For dessert, we got the strawberry clafoutis that tastes a lot better than it looks. Service is good overall, in line with the mandatory 20% gratuity. At least in Oregon, there's no sales tax. Regardless, this place is a bit spendy but worthwhile for a nice little night out.

Wow! What an experience. First of all, their menu was elaborate and amazing. The food and ambiance were top-tier, their wine selection was stunning, and the service was high-end, creating a truly feel-good atmosphere.

I would say pours are measured exact. Def do t expect an over pour lol Prices are higher because they are great quality wines. It's a very small place, which makes it cute and intimate, so if you aren't use to that Paris feel of being squeezed together probably not the place. Pleasant experience. Service is great, very friendly

    Seriously, the place is gorgeous

Totally lucked out on this one with a friend as we were walking over to a different bar "Hey! This place looks cute, let's check this out instead!" OK. Cute is an understatement. It's positively gorgeous inside. The people are super nice, the wine's fantastic, and the yellowtail toast is seriously one of the tastiest things I've eaten this year. We lucked out and happened to be walking by right when there were some free seats at the bar, but if you have to wait? It's seriously worth it!

A fellow wine industry friend recommended Heavenly Creatures to us during our visit to Portland and we couldn't be more pleased. The vibes were chill, romantic, and cozy. The staff was friendly and knowledgable about the wines, and the service was quick but not rushed. We got the yellowtail toast and the camembert with potato chips. I preferred the camembert - the creaminess and slight sweetness of the cheese paired perfectly with the crunch and saltiness of the chip - while my boyfriend preferred the toast. We paired our bites with an Oregonian Gamay and a French Syrah. Delicious, and can't wait to come back!

Great place, we liked our salad and the wine was delicious. It was a little pricey compared to the other wine bars in the area, but the quality was great. We felt a bit cramped by the front door but it looks like they have a good bit of overflow space. The servers were nice, very helpful with recommendations.

I was excited to check out this neighborhood wine centric bar. We got there around 6 and the wait was about 45 mins. Usually you can go next door to get a drink while you wait but there was a private event happening. NBD, we just walked over the steeplejack for a drink. The place was popping and smelled really good! I loved the atmosphere. Food wise, the yellowtail toast was phenomenal while the winter veggie tartare and the lamb ribs were good but not amazing. The $25 glass of champagne was underwhelming. Service could also be better.

The ambiance is very sweet - light and airy space with lots of outdoor seating (parklet) which is so nice for a warm Portland afternoon. The gentleman behind the counter was pretty aloof and didn't offer any help while we were looking at the wines. The per-glass prices were on the high end - although likely typical for a contemporary Portland wine bar, we opted for a bottle. Surprise! A $20 corkage fee was added to our bill. Nowhere was this written, mentioned, or warned, so our nice affordable bottle of Croatian orange doubled in price. It seems like a pretty exorbitant fee just to enjoy the wine we just bought from your shop on your premises. The shop also didn't seem to have any ice buckets or quick-chill options, so we had to drink our wine at room temperature. For a wine bar that sells bottles, charges a $20 corkage fee, going into summer, not to have chilled bottles or ice buckets available is wild. We had to leave the wine in the fridge behind the counter to chill, and then go back inside for a refill each time we wanted more wine. The server didn't even come out to check on us or refill our glasses. And you grab your own water and bus your own table. Basically the corkage fee grants you the privilege to sit at one of their tables and nothing else. No service or amenities to speak of. I might pop in to pick up a bottle if I'm in the area, as the selection is good and reasonably priced, but I doubt I'll sit down for a drink again. There are plenty of cute spots around where I'm not charged $20 just to drink my beverage onsite.

Mid Century Modern kinda feel to the inside which is right up my girls alley. The people who work here are super friendly and professional. When we got there we were greeted and sat right away since we had a reservation. I love trying something a little different. I've never had Carpaccio before and now after trying it at Dame, I'm totally a fan. Light texture but deep flavors due to the shaved fois gras and capers. The Focaccia was really good too. I gravitate to anything that has fennel in it so I might be a little biased. That and love bread just as much as I love potatoes. Potatoes are life after all. Heh When we went we ordered the Late Summer Risotto and the Pork Chop. I admittedly liked my girls dish just a little more than mine. It was super fally. Even though it didn't have any meat, I really enjoyed all the veggies bouncing off eachother in this pasta. I feel like some people think Risotto can get boring sometimes. A lot of times we see the same ole Mushroom Risotto a thousand times. Or maybe it's just a basic one paired with some other dish. I really like that Dame's had a lot of fun things going on within it. That being said don't get it twisted. The Pork Chop was still fire. I love the tenderness and flavors just on its own. I've never been a big polenta guy but Dame's again made me rethink my humanity. It was so creamy. What a nice alternative to the usual mashed potatoes. Salsa Verde is also a big go to when I eat Mexican Food so, paired with everything else we were definitely grubbin. Everything we had is flawless and it just makes it hard for me because pretty much every place we went to in Portland had great food. I can't wait to come back during a different season to try some more tasty meals here!

The table next to me ordered the kimchi and chips, and I wish I had ordered it, but usually kimchi is too spicy for me so that's why I didn't. I think they even ferment the kimchi there. I'll definitely order that when I go back. My least favorite item was the barbecue tempeh, and that was mainly because of the soft consistency of the tempeh. This time around, we happened to be shopping nearby before lunch and were able to make it in. This was at around noon on Saturday and it wasn't too busy at all even with the great sunny weather. We were only a bit peckish at the time, since we had just eaten three pints of fresh Hood strawberries, so we opted to share one sandwich. I quickly placed the order at the single kiosk (only kiosk ordering is available) and the sandwich arrived soon afterwards. Interestingly enough the chef somehow knew we were sharing the sandwich and had it split into two wrapped packages instead of a single one. Really nice gesture and shows how attentive he is. Now the sandwich quality, unfortunately, didn't meet my expectations. The O.G. ($17) - The sandwich first starts with a nice and crusty Ciabatta roll bun from Dos Hermanos. It's served slightly toasted warm and has plenty of chewy developed flavor inside. The bottom bun is slathered with some mayo. For this sandwich, putting the mayo on the bottom is actually really important and done correctly. This allows the creaminess of the mayo to dampen some (but not enough, as will be described later) of the slaw on top of the pastrami. I tried eating the sandwich both right-side-up and upside-down and it's a totally different eating experience due to the sandwich construction. On top of the mayo are probably ten thinly shaved slices of pastrami. It's smoky and seasoned well with plenty of peppery flavor, but it doesn't stand out very much especially due to the onslaught of slaw. To identify the pastrami flavors at all, I had to remove pieces from the sandwich to eat individually. By far the most numerous element of the sandwich is the banh mi inspired slaw. It basically consists of a tiny amount of small cubed carrots, pickled to give a little acidity and extra crunch, a bit of red onion, tiny pieces of cucumber and an overwhelming amount of crunchy cabbage. Think of a real banh mi - the large sticks of cucumber and the julienned carrot and daikon, all distinct and delicious. That's not this slaw. In this slaw, everything is all mixed together into a blend that muddles the ingredients together into a mess. The slaw is dressed in a ton of hazelnut chili crisp. I actually couldn't identify the flavor as hazelnut, instead thinking it was peanut. It's smoky and only slightly spicy, but it's also really acidic, really overpowering. It's a ridiculously strong flavor that completely dominates everything else in the sandwich. As I stated before, I literally couldn't taste the pastrami at all over the acidic chili crisp and slaw. The meat gets completely lost. I'm really wondering if the chef only read the Acid section of Samin Nosrat's seminal book? I'm not a fan of this sandwich at all. It's lopsided in construction, way too much chili crisp and slaw, muddling all of the flavors underneath the slaw. There was so much chili oil that it made a large puddle underneath my sandwich and I had to reorganize and fold the butcher paper to prevent the oil from running out and staining the table. I had to do this several times while eating, balancing the paper after every couple of bites. The slaw pooled out of the sandwich, falling onto the paper, yet it was so runny I had to use to fork to pick up the pieces, lest I cover my hands in spicy oil. Looking around, I wasn't the only one to run into this issue. If I have to use a fork to eat a sandwich, yet still have a mess on my hands, well this shop has lost the plot. I'm also confused how exactly is this sandwich is "banh mi" inspired. The only overlap is the pitiful amount of pickled carrots. Nothing else here goes in banh mi. It's their take on it, but fails to capture the essence. (2/5) I like sandwiches that have good flavor and balanced construction. The sandwich I received at Pasture PDX was anything but. It was honestly one of the worst sandwiches I've eaten in recent memory. Bathrooms - Single unisex room
