Small snug seating, early dinner was daylight dependant so the lighting was just dim. Tapas sized plates portioned for a bite or two for this dining table of three. A bit noisy from the kitchen so try to sit closer to the front entrance if possible. Not too much excitement from the subdued server when asked about wine recommendations. Steep steep pricing for everyday home-style decor and ordinary service.

Finally dined here after eyeing this place for so long. I've tried some other food under dame collective and was impressed but Dame ended up being really underwhelming. Every dish was visually appealing but ended up lacking that wow factor. The albacore tuna crudo was flavorless. The marinate seemed to be so light with the only note being citrus. The sauce from the cacio e pepe was overly cheesy and hard to eat. It wouldn't pull apart and coagulated quickly. The squid ink bucatini was a confusing dish because it was literally noodles in stock. Was I eating noodle soup? Luckily the beet salad was good but I was still disappointed in this meal overall. I like the cozy hip neighborhood vibes of the interior though. I think this is an average place to dine but don't expect amazing food innovative flavors here.

I visited Dame for the first time, and what an absolute gem! The space is relatively small and intimate. All the staff here are extremely friendly and attentive. Even the chef came out to ask how we were enjoying our food! I came for the Bianca menu, curated by Plant Based Papi. His Italian-inspired menu seriously blew me away. The hard work and passion he put into creating such delicious dishes shows through the great flavor and presentation. I genuinely feel so honored to have the opportunity to enjoy such wonderful food, and cannot wait to dine here again!

Dame is an easy 5/5. The focaccia was a good opener with the gazpacho (which was almost like a thicker, more creamy tomato bisque soup and was cool and refreshing). For entrees, the MacFarland Springs trout was amazing (I don't normally see trout on a menu so I decided to try it) and the risotto primavera was just perfect (and such a large portion that we couldn't come close to finishing it). The restaurant has a Portlandia vibe to it, kinda hard to articulate, people just being themselves and dressing in their own unique way and fashion sense. We also tried the orange wine just for kicks. They had a very particular selection of wines by the glass, which our bartender had very deep thoughts on. After dinner we walked westward on NE Alberta which has a lot of bars and restaurants strewn across it, many with a completely eclectic and individualistic design styles and cool murals along the way - very Portland. This may be an over-generalization, but there seems to be a wide life-style swath between Portland and, say, the Bay Area/Silicon Valley. There is some consideration to the joke about how people move to Portland to retire in their 20s vs Silicon Valley where people care more about stock options and the next funding round. Portlandians have elected not to participate as strongly in the rat race. It's also a mecca of great food but it's not alone in that category. I wouldn't characterize Portland as run-down, perhaps just not as built up and gentrified. It's thriving with activity and life and just ignore the axe-grinding, haters who claim Portland (and other so-called blue cities) has become a homeless, drug user disaster zone. They're not thinking clearly.

Had Dame on a sunday for dinner. made a reservation an hour prior and came in 20 minutes early and they were very flexible and able to seat us! We had already eaten a couple of dishes prior and wanted to top off, so we stopped by and ordered the carpaccio and squid ink bucatini. Both tasted amazing!!! the only complaint that i have is that the carpaccio filled up half of the plate for $17. on the pricier side for less imo, but it did taste very good! the carpaccio was sliced very thin, slightly seared (but cold) and had fois gras flakes and fried capers (slight taste of olive) to top it. very yummmmm! the squid ink pasta was very flavorful, quite spicy!, sour, but most of all, delicious! the noodles themselves had much flavor, the shrimp balanced out the acidity, and the bread was perfectly toasted that it paired well with the (liquidy/soupy) pasta sauce. would def come again to try more menu items!

This place is an absolute MUST! If you're choosing between here and Gabbianos.. Dame is 100% the better option. The food here is fresh, made from local ingredients and so insanely tasty. The dishes are very creative too. We got a few dishes so we could try a decent amount of food and we weren't the least bit disappointed. Best dishes was for sure the risotto and surprisingly the broccoli but everything was packed with flavor. You really can't go wrong

We made a 5:30 bar reservation for Saturday. It's a cozy atmosphere. The bartender and hostess were very friendly. Everything we ordered was delicious - Butternut Squash soup, tuna crudo, cacio e pepe, fall risotto and chocolate cake. I loved that it was intimate and we could hear each other talk.

I am ALLLLL about the natural wines and seasonal food that Dame has to offer. My husband and I dined here this past weekend and it was an absolute delight! I already can't wait to come back for another meal. We had the wagyu carpaccio and Caesar salad to start, which were both delicious. It would have been nice if the salad was cut up a bit more to make it easier to eat. Now moving on to the best part... the carbs! All of the pastas are all made in house and it's obvious that they use quality ingredients. We ordered the cacio e pepe, Dungeness crab risotto, and ricotta & black truffle triangoli. WOW! We loved every single dish. Majority of the menu can be made vegan or gluten free upon request. We finished the the night off with some cheesecake and a digestif. Highly recommend checking this place out. Cheers!

The hubby and I came here for dinner before attending a show at the Alberta Rose Theater. We had a wonderful time!! Both of us loved all the food we ordered as well as the red wine selection. They seem to change the menu up each month and offer vegetarian options. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They checked in with us just enough. Our dinner experience lasted an hour and a half, which felt just right. We will be back here for sure for a future special meal.

Dining experience was unique with some modern wicker items and old English frames and pics. They had outdoor dining but it was too chilly so we stayed indoors. The focaccia bread and squid was perfect start as it was light and not too heavy. I am picky about my fish so this was a good combo as it came with a salad. Bread came with plenty of spread too. Shrimp pasta was thoroughly seasoned, it did not fall to the bottom like most dishes so you get a spicy taste all the time. Shrimp was also jumbo size. Tail was on but that wasn't a huge deal. We ended with chocolate cake and I don't know many places I've had a better one and I have a sweet tooth. It was light cake but so good and not too rich. Dark combo was epic and finished. Server gave us space to order in between and didn't deliver the food all at once which was great. I like that service team didn't dress up in uniform and more casual and relata I

Dame: a culinary gem where global inspiration meets fresh and savory delights. The staff are friendly, adding to the relaxed and laid-back vibe of the place. Step into the cozy indoor seating area with its charming and beautiful interior, perfect for a romantic date night or a cozy gathering with friends. Dame is the ultimate spot to enjoy fantastic food, soak up the good vibes, and create unforgettable memories. We came here around 5:30pm on a Friday evening and were seated right away outside. We decided on the beef carpaccio, focaccia bread, and squid ink pasta. I'm not kidding when I say everything was delicious. Devine. Delectable! Service was great as well. I thoroughly enjoyed each dish and will be back.

There was an issue with the reservation so we got seated a half an hour past the reservation time. They gave us complimentary drinks though to make up for it. For appetizers, we got a Sprouting Broccoli and Foccacia bread. The broccolini was delicious and the bread with ricotta was quite nice. For the main course, I ordered the Squid Ink Pasta. The menu said spicy but I wasn't expecting so much heat in every bite. The spiciness was a bit overpowering and masked the flavors of the prawns and squid ink, it got less enjoyable over time. I recommend the Cacio e Pepe instead. Lastly we rounded out the meal with desserts. The Ricotta Doughnuts were fantastic! The marionberry compote paired perfectly with the light and fluffy dough.

The ambiance is very sweet - light and airy space with lots of outdoor seating (parklet) which is so nice for a warm Portland afternoon. The gentleman behind the counter was pretty aloof and didn't offer any help while we were looking at the wines. The per-glass prices were on the high end - although likely typical for a contemporary Portland wine bar, we opted for a bottle. Surprise! A $20 corkage fee was added to our bill. Nowhere was this written, mentioned, or warned, so our nice affordable bottle of Croatian orange doubled in price. It seems like a pretty exorbitant fee just to enjoy the wine we just bought from your shop on your premises. The shop also didn't seem to have any ice buckets or quick-chill options, so we had to drink our wine at room temperature. For a wine bar that sells bottles, charges a $20 corkage fee, going into summer, not to have chilled bottles or ice buckets available is wild. We had to leave the wine in the fridge behind the counter to chill, and then go back inside for a refill each time we wanted more wine. The server didn't even come out to check on us or refill our glasses. And you grab your own water and bus your own table. Basically the corkage fee grants you the privilege to sit at one of their tables and nothing else. No service or amenities to speak of. I might pop in to pick up a bottle if I'm in the area, as the selection is good and reasonably priced, but I doubt I'll sit down for a drink again. There are plenty of cute spots around where I'm not charged $20 just to drink my beverage onsite.

My favorite items by far were the Chantelle chowder and the watermelon radishes. The tortellini soup reminded me of a Ramen broth, but with tortellini in it instead of Ramen noodles. The table next to me ordered the kimchi and chips, and I wish I had ordered it, but usually kimchi is too spicy for me so that's why I didn't. I think they even ferment the kimchi there. I'll definitely order that when I go back. My least favorite item was the barbecue tempeh, and that was mainly because of the soft consistency of the tempeh. But the celery root mash that came with it was delicious. The service was exceptional. The bathrooms were clean and nice. And I highly recommend this place and will definitely be going back.

This time around, we happened to be shopping nearby before lunch and were able to make it in. This was at around noon on Saturday and it wasn't too busy at all even with the great sunny weather. We were only a bit peckish at the time, since we had just eaten three pints of fresh Hood strawberries, so we opted to share one sandwich. I quickly placed the order at the single kiosk (only kiosk ordering is available) and the sandwich arrived soon afterwards. Interestingly enough the chef somehow knew we were sharing the sandwich and had it split into two wrapped packages instead of a single one. Really nice gesture and shows how attentive he is. Now the sandwich quality, unfortunately, didn't meet my expectations. The O.G. ($17) - The sandwich first starts with a nice and crusty Ciabatta roll bun from Dos Hermanos. It's served slightly toasted warm and has plenty of chewy developed flavor inside. The bottom bun is slathered with some mayo. For this sandwich, putting the mayo on the bottom is actually really important and done correctly. This allows the creaminess of the mayo to dampen some (but not enough, as will be described later) of the slaw on top of the pastrami. I tried eating the sandwich both right-side-up and upside-down and it's a totally different eating experience due to the sandwich construction. On top of the mayo are probably ten thinly shaved slices of pastrami. It's smoky and seasoned well with plenty of peppery flavor, but it doesn't stand out very much especially due to the onslaught of slaw. To identify the pastrami flavors at all, I had to remove pieces from the sandwich to eat individually. By far the most numerous element of the sandwich is the banh mi inspired slaw. It basically consists of a tiny amount of small cubed carrots, pickled to give a little acidity and extra crunch, a bit of red onion, tiny pieces of cucumber and an overwhelming amount of crunchy cabbage. Think of a real banh mi - the large sticks of cucumber and the julienned carrot and daikon, all distinct and delicious. That's not this slaw. In this slaw, everything is all mixed together into a blend that muddles the ingredients together into a mess. The slaw is dressed in a ton of hazelnut chili crisp. I actually couldn't identify the flavor as hazelnut, instead thinking it was peanut. It's smoky and only slightly spicy, but it's also really acidic, really overpowering. It's a ridiculously strong flavor that completely dominates everything else in the sandwich. As I stated before, I literally couldn't taste the pastrami at all over the acidic chili crisp and slaw. The meat gets completely lost. I'm really wondering if the chef only read the Acid section of Samin Nosrat's seminal book? I'm not a fan of this sandwich at all. It's lopsided in construction, way too much chili crisp and slaw, muddling all of the flavors underneath the slaw. There was so much chili oil that it made a large puddle underneath my sandwich and I had to reorganize and fold the butcher paper to prevent the oil from running out and staining the table. I had to do this several times while eating, balancing the paper after every couple of bites. The slaw pooled out of the sandwich, falling onto the paper, yet it was so runny I had to use to fork to pick up the pieces, lest I cover my hands in spicy oil. Looking around, I wasn't the only one to run into this issue. If I have to use a fork to eat a sandwich, yet still have a mess on my hands, well this shop has lost the plot. I'm also confused how exactly is this sandwich is "banh mi" inspired. The only overlap is the pitiful amount of pickled carrots. Nothing else here goes in banh mi. It's their take on it, but fails to capture the essence. (2/5) I like sandwiches that have good flavor and balanced construction. The sandwich I received at Pasture PDX was anything but. It was honestly one of the worst sandwiches I've eaten in recent memory. Bathrooms - Single unisex room
