Not gonna lie, the smell of garlic bread is what brought me here. We were at buy buy baby a couple stores down and I just couldn't resist the smell. There was a sign out front advertising $9 lunch specials and we were sold. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara with Caesar salad and it was very tasty and a very large portion considering it was only $9. My husband got the spicy sausage pasta with their soup of the day and he basically inhaled it. Said it was the best pasta he's ever had. I loved this place. It has the feel of a Houlihan's, but more Italian. It may not have the vibe of an authentic, independently owned Italian restaurant, but it does have tasty food and great happy hour specials. It was also very clean and well decorated. My only complaint would be that it is a little loud. If I lived in this area, I would most certainly be a regular. I have celiac disease and must eat gluten-free, but was relieved to see that there are many options available. The waiter assured me that the cooks are well trained in preventing cross contamination and that I would be safe to eat there. I didn't need to be told twice! I ordered an appetizer of the olives, fettuccine Alfredo with gluten free noodles, and the gluten-free tiramisu. The waiter made a cocktail, making sure to use gluten-free alcohol. I realize that many claim all alcohol is gluten-free due to the distillation process, but most people with celiac disease are sensitive enough that it still is an issue. Could leave a 0 if I could. The front desk staff were nice upon us coming In and reserving for 2. Told us it was a 30 mins wait which it was. We sat down got our menus. The worst part was waiting at least 15 minutes. Not a single wait staff, or what looks to be a manger acknowledged us, no one offered water, no one said if a waiter or waitress will be with us. What frustrated us was that three women who sat down 10 minutes after us were immediately being helped, the same waitresses passed us at least 5 times, and it was obvious workers noticed we were there. It wasn't that busy with at least 5 tables being empty and workers standing in the back chatting.. My husband and I have been wanting to try this place, and it being out first time in here was disappointing. We left after 15 minutes. We shouldn't have to ask to be helped, and annoyed by workers constantly passing us without acknowledgement. read more

This was my first visit to Pastini, and I will be back! The host was courteous and welcomed everyone on the way in. We were seated quickly. The menu had a good variety of pasta options, as well as some sandwiches. I couldn't decide between two things and I asked for their opinion and got the baked ziti. The baked ziti was delicious! Upon walking in with my daughter, we were greeting within moments by the host. Being after lunch only 4 tables or so had customers therefore the restaurant was quiet and mostly empty. The host took us to the largest booth in the restaurant. This boot could easily seat 8. It was not by the window. It was dark even though the sun was out. We passed 5 empty window tables to get to it. I was not sure why he lead us to this booth when clearly there's only two of us. I asked for a smaller table.......Oh, look the one next to it.....or the 5 other small table around it will do.... Our server came shortly. She was friendly and smiling. My daughter and I ended up sharing the SPAGHETTI CARBONARA and the BISTRO SALAD. Both came with bread. The bread was cold and not very soft nor fresh tasting. Very disappointing. My daughter and I debated on ordering extra bread. Good thing we did not!! I liked the bacon(pork belly) in both the dishes but he Carbonara lacked flavor, quantity, warm bread and was over priced. The Bistro Salad had more flavor than the Carbonara and quite good but and again came with cold, not so fresh bread. We ate here because it was convenient. Their waiters were so well knowledgeable on their gluten free options. It made it very easy and less stressful ordering since their waitresses knew everything about the menu. They even included a little toothpick flag in my meal that stated it was gluten free! And the fact that they remembered not to cross contaminate by adding bread to my dish was impressive. read more

I loved the food! 10/10 Love their shirley temple. I was just trying to have a lovely lunch with my friends but our waiter was extremely rude. When we had to pay our waiter with heart glasses and pink hair was annoyed how me and my friends all wanted to pay separately. We paid a lot for a little on carry-out. Very small portions in cafe lunch style plastic containers: lasagna, chicken fettuccini marsala and a small side salad apparently cost $42 (ouch!). The lasagna was good, but the chicken fettuccini marsala didn't have much of a marsala taste. Salads are salads. Can't really screw up a salad. Both occasions we've ordered from here were far less than average. The cashier who answers the phone gives a very strong vibe of not wanting to be there. They didn't take our name for our Top Go order. They don't honor Meatball Mondays-twice in a row we were overcharged. When we got home all of our food containers with the exception of the bread we're in the bag upside down. When I tried to ask about meatball Monday special I was given such a look of disdain, I left & called manager from my car. We've been to their NW 23rd location and didnt have any 'problems" dining. It was my first in their Cedarhills location and I'm beyond disappointed. Food: I ordered their supposedly special - Butternut Squash-Gorgonzola Ravioli. It was too oily and salty. My husband had Spaghetti Meatballs and said it was ok, but could use a little more salt. Service: The server didnt offer/give us bread while waiting for our entrees. The NW Portland location puts bread on the table right after you order entrees. Our server tonight even told us that "there's bread on your pasta, and you food coming in a few". So no bread for us. He didnt even checked on us and see how we like the food or if we need water/soda refills. Bottomline: We're not going back to this Pastini location. PASTA!!!! so good you'll cry! everything is made from scratch and it really shows! You cannot go wrong with any dish on their menu as they are all created from scratch and from the heart! They even have a few great Gluten Free pastas as well! For lunch I love the Sandwiches! Panini are amazing! Salads are super fresh and the dressing they make themselves, super flavorful! I love the marinara sauce! great for dipping bread in it! the Fussili ala roma is awesome as is the butternut squash gorgonzola ravioli! the Fettuccini Alfredo is creamy and delicious. the Spinach salad and Bistro salad are two of my favorites! and they have an awesome chocolate cake! Tasty pasta dishes, friendly staff, great for parties, convenient location. What is there not to like about Pastini? I have dined here on multiple occasions, and have enjoyed it each time. It is a fun place to enjoy dinner with a group of friends, or on a date night. I also came here on my birthday, were they even served me a complimentary pasta. Free! How cool is that? Linguini misto mare - one of my favorite dishes here. The pasta was cooked well. The shrimp, clams, and white fish were tasty and the pasta was cooked in garlic, lemon, herbs and white wine. I enjoyed this dish. Spaghetti carbonara - I just love carbonara, and I get really excited when I see it on the menu. They make it well here, with delicious bacon, peas, creamy parmesan, black pepper. Definitely a great classic and a good go-to dish. I would say that the flavors are good and what I expect for a chain Italian restaurant. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Service was friendly and prompt. They made sure we were taken care of. The restaurant has a large space, and they are always able to seat our party without a problem. Overall I am happy with my experiences at Pastini Pastaria. I know most people don't celebrate their dog's adoption anniversary day at an Italian restaurant, but they should! Thank you Phillip and Katie for making our experience delightful and family-like. Worked out without breakfast for two hours , so I was starving for some fresh veggies and carbs. I ordered butternut squash ravioli with garlic bread and almond chocolate Italian soda. It only took 15 minute for food to arrive and it was steaming hot. Pasta was not overlooked and flavor was rich, though I was surprised how much oil was pooled in the plate. Garlic bread helped absorb some of it, and I finished just half the plate. Con: I tried the white sauce (Alfredo) but it was super salty! D: So was the red sauce and meat ball. Kids refrained from complaining to be nice, so didn't find out till we noticed their pace slowing down and tried a sample. Both plates were taken off the bill promptly. Customer service was good, no issue there. Building was little cold for comfort, but it was nice atmosphere. Will come back again, and hope to get low sodium version next time lol It happens. read more

When it comes to sit-down, waiter-served pasta houses, I would pick Pastini over Macaroni Grill and (shudder) Olive Garden every time. (C'mon people...Olive Garden is to Italian food as Taco Bell is to Mexican food.) The food is consistently hot, well-prepared and tasty. The service is prompt and attentive. The prices are reasonable and I never walk away feeling heavy like at those other joints. I usually choose a penne or spaghetti dish so I can substitute the regular pasta with whole wheat pasta (kudos for this option). The Spaghetti and Meatballs are good, with three large meatballs and not too much sauce. The Spaghetti and Spicy Sausage has a nice heat to it. They have local Portland beers on tap too! read more

We were here again last night, maybe my glass of wine was too big last time, or they were having an off night this time, but I'm taking a star away. The service was good. But the food lacked a little flavor and finesse. My squash was in quite different sized chunks, which meant some of it was cooked properly ( smaller pieces) and some of it ( bigger pieces) were still a bit underdone. BIL and Hubby weren't excited about their pasta dishes, and hubby was grousing about the lack of a free bread basket and the tiny piece of cold ciabatta that came with his dish. We will be back in, I'm sure... but we think maybe Bugatti's is better. And it's close by. read more

Went here for a family dinner. We had a bunch of things that were pretty good. The ham Panini was tasty, however the cheddar potato soup that came with it wasn't too good in my opinion. It had a gritty texture (almost like instant potatoes were used now that I think about it). The Mac and Cheese, was pretty good too. The cheese vaguely reminded me of a fondue, just with pasta instead of bread. just not as strongly flavored as a fondue. The one complaint that I'd say that I have is that it appears to me that there was more than just a little salt in the foods because I was really thirsty later and that generally indicates too much salt. Service was really pretty good. Dessert was tasty, but small and way overpriced for the serving size, but yes, I know, that's where they make their money, drinks and desserts. The food was out rather quickly, which explained why it was rather cold. What isn't explained is why it was so flavorless. Pastini's is something similar to Olive Garden, only it doesn't try so hard to be faux Italian like they do. They provide delicious food, good service, and decent prices. My friends and I end up eating here at least once every few months because it always delivers a pleasant experience. Their servings are large for the prices. The cup of soup is really a small bowl and the bowl of soup is actually quite large. We've ordered appetizers such as the Bruschetta and they serve enough to make a small meal out of it. We always end up with leftovers. I recommend their Roasted Red Pepper Tomato Soup and their Bruschetta if you want something light or their Fettuccine Alfredo if you want pasta. read more

Excellent food and service. In the past the atmosphere has been very good. Went there tonight but it was different because of loud and out of control children. In one party- 5 kids under age 7. The 3 adults basically ignored the kids and had their own conversation. We (4 of us) were seated next to that party of 5 kids and 3 adults. Terrible. Wolfed our food down so we could get out of there. Restaurant was not at fault; but management should be aware in the future to be sensitive to the dining experience of everyone. read more
