    Carbonara with a meatball

Very popular place so reservations a must. They switched from Open Table to Toast. They take reservations 90 days in advance. I stopped by at 4:30 on a Friday and got the last seat at the bar. As you can tell from my pictures it's a dark place. Happy Hour is from 4-5:30 to lighten the mood. And I was quite happy. Frozen margaritas! As the name implies, you have to try one of their housemade pastas. I had the carbonara. It was wonderful. Comes with an order of their stretch bread and spicy hot tomato oil (so don't have to order separately). I hear they have an extra spicy tomato oil that I'll have to try next time.

Pastabilities is such a classic and always a great go to whether you go for lunch or dinner i've never been disappointed! I recently went for lunch and it was great service, quick, and delicious! I do miss when it was cafeteria style for lunch where you walk down the line and made right for you but now they have a QR code on the table that you order through and food still comes out quick. They have a great variety of options for lunch and enjoy their speciality items for dinner as well, there's simply not a wrong answer when it comes to ordering here! The bread and hot tom oil is always a must when you're here as well.

I visited Pastabilities several times during my visit to Syracuse, and enjoyed every meal! This place is literally always packed, even early in the week, so make a reservation in advance. The menu is large, with customizable pasta entrees, as well as dishes created by the chef. Their homemade pasta is excellent, and don't pass up on their complimentary freshly baked bread. They have a full bar with some tasty local beers on tap, which I enjoyed. If you're craving delicious pasta, look no further!

A surprise in our bread basket, I guess they didn't think we would mind the paper wrapper gift.

Had high hopes and expectations, my wife and daughter really wanted to eat here for the past several days. Since wife and I always visit the bakery across the street every time we visit Syracuse. But food was not as good as expected the pasta was overcooked and the food lacked flavor. Maybe they were just too busy tonight, since it was the Mother's Day. We were celebrating the Mother's Day AND my daughter's graduation from Syracuse. It was a disappointment, though a couple of serving staff were friendly and helpful, overall wasn't a good experience.

I've always heard good things about Pastabilites and was very much looking forward to checking it out for myself. We had a reservation for 4:30 and were seated promptly. Our server was the best! She was so knowledgeable about the menu options and enhanced the experience. The room we were seated in had vibrant decor and big wide open windows, overlooking the outdoor seating area. A great vibe. We loved getting complementary stretch bread with the hot Tom oil. It is something Pastabilites is well known for and I can see why! It was so delicious and I loved the garlic chunks in the oil. I ordered the hot Tom vodka pasta with grilled chicken. It was amazing! The pasta is homemade and you are able to select the pasta for your meal. I also ordered the soup of the day: a creamy chicken and mushroom. It was so fresh. You could taste it through the ingredients. For dessert I really wanted to try the homemade gelato. I was so full and the sever informed us we could get a kids portion. I happily ordered the pistachio twist gelato. Once again, loved the offering. Everything was perfect. I long to visit again.

I am not gonna lie, I am literally a staple at Pastabilities. It is one of my absolute favorite spots every time I come back home to Syracuse. I always make it a point to stop here. Always. If you're planning to go, definitely get on the waitlist. I recommend calling a few hours before dinner whether you're going with friends, family, or on a date night because this place stays busy for a reason. The ambience is adorable. Sometimes it can get loud depending on the vibe and crowd, but honestly that's part of the charm. You can grab a booth, a table, or sit at the bar. The drinks are amazing and the servers are always great. I go so often that I actually know a few of them. Lilly is amazing and such a sweetheart. Every time I see her we just end up chatting. She's so good at what she does, she answers every question, makes you feel taken care of, and just makes the whole experience better. I am a HUGE fan of their Caesar salad. Love love love it. They always bring out bread with their spicy tomato oil and oh my gosh it is to die for. Their pasta is homemade and you can genuinely taste how fresh it is. I've read that the owner traveled through Italy and found a lot of her inspiration there for the dishes they serve, and honestly that just puts the cherry on top for me and makes the whole experience feel even more authentic. I love Pastabilities and I will be advocating for them forever. I'm so happy this restaurant is in downtown Syracuse. It brings the city to life and makes going downtown fun. Truly a great spot.

I haven't been to Pastabilities in years, but it is just as good as I remember it! Thankfully this popular shop started taking reservations. They have a short but sweet happy hour during the week. Although it is a pasta shop, the duck flatbread pizza is not to be missed! The low lighting, warm hues, and industrial brick makes for a cozy ambiance, and was a great place to cozy up with some good drinks and filling pasta on a rainy evening. I love that you can mix and match the sauces and will be back soon to try a new combination!

I feel like I just keep updating my review of this place so that I can keep track of what I've eaten for the next time I come. Because... there will always be a next time. This is one of my top ten favorite restaurants. Anyway, the new reminder of what to get again is the cannoli cheesecake. My husband doesn't even like cheesecake and he said it was delicious. The best part about it was the almond flavor. So good. The chicken parm was a good, well-made, chicken parm but not different from other good well-made chicken parms. The manicotti and meatball appetizer are the must-haves.... As well as the dipping sauce. So sad this place doesn't exist in LA.

There was a wait. Be prepared if you have no reservation. But the wait went by fast for me. So I'll keep it at five cause everything was great. I went to dine alone after finding this spot on yelp. I figured go soon as they open, there will be no crowd. Wrong lol. I guess that's what happens when you're just a good spot. The service was great. My waitress was super nice. The aroma of the place was so delicious. Really gave me good Italian resto vibes. The sauce that came with the toast was a bit skeptical at first. But I tried it and asked for more bread lol. It was amazing. And it made me full. The chipotle short rib pappardelle pasta was super yummy. After the bread indulgence, I had to take the rest of my pasta home. This place is a great find. I have to go back before I leave town.

This is my second time I came to Pastabilities, and it never disappointed me. Food is delicious. Ambiance is great. Perfect place to come with friends or a date. Our waiter and bus boys were amazing. It is always hard to get a reservation for weekends so try to reserve it way in advance. Only street parking.

Really solid pasta spot in Syracuse. Super popular, definitely recommend making a reservation online if you can otherwise there can be a long wait. The stars for me were their hot tomato oil and their drinks (had the Forbidden Fruit). That hot tomato oil I could dip anything in it, so flavorful with just the right amount of spice. I ordered the spicy bolo with pappardelle pasta - it's a combo of their bolognese and hot tomato oil. I liked it but probably should have stuck to the tomato oil vs the mix. While flavorful the meat in the bolognese was a bit overdone. But the pasta was good to perfection! I'd pass on ordering the broccoli with garlic oil and cheese/walnuts, something about the way the broccoli is cooked in the oil gives it a bit of a gummy texture, not quite pleasant. Love the upbeat urban inside, great and friendly service and lively crowd!

Loved coming here over the weekend! The food was so good. They served warm bread and sauce (Tom Sauce) to dip in before our food came. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo and it was delicious. There was a very large portion. Our server was friendly and helpful. We loved all the decorations and lights for the holidays. It had a festive vibe. Perfect place to get pasta in Syracuse!

    Welcome

On our way up to Niagara Falls, we stopped off in downtown Syracuse using Yelp as my foodie sherpa and it did NOT disappoint. We wanted quick and casual but a high quality food option. Fresh homemade pasta was all I needed to hear. Know that we found street parking and had to download an app to pay for parking. From what we could tell, you must pay to park no matter what unless it's after 6:00 pm. Once parked and paid, we walked a bit. We turned the corner and we could see the Pastabilities awning. We were asked is we wanted to sit outside or inside. Not realizing they had more seating on a back patio, we chose inside. Note: we probably would have picked the outside back patio IF we had known. However once inside, the hipster vibe was totally vibing and it was very nice, especially the music playing in the background. As we were handed menus, we were offered complimentary fresh-baked bread with their known tom tom sauce for dipping. Delicious! If you want more bread, it's still complimentary. But if you want additional tom tom sauce to go with it, then there is a small up-charge fee. Our main entrees were fresh and delicious. I was concerned that my fettuccine Alfredo would be too heavy but it was just perfect in so many ways. I ate the whole thing and that says a LOT! My hubby had the chicken Parmesan with linguine noodles. It was a hearty-sized serving too. Both pastas were just amazingly fresh and deliciously prepared. We were so full and looking to get back in the road that we skipped dessert, but the dessert options looked lovely. Lastly, our server and additional staff was very nice, friendly and accommodating. If pasta or Italian is what you are in the mood for then you can't go wrong here. Mangia!!

When I went to pickup the staff member wanted me to sign off on a receipt of the full amount without the discount. Quality of the food depends. The $18 salad was a plate of iceberg lettuce with a few scraps of cheese thrown on. The salad was the biggest disappointment. On the other hand, the classic poutine was bang on. Great ratio of gravy to fries, everything was nice, all the flavors were right. But the rest of the poutines have too much quality variation, which is unforgivable for a place advertising their 12 different kinds of poutine. None of the other flavors were nearly as good as the classic, with combos that didn't work. The burger was tasty. However, it was supposed to be medium and it was very rare. The beer cheese pretzel was also disappointing. The cheese had been cooked too long, or maybe microwaved, because it had seized and was very coarse and mealy. The amount of cheese was also not enough for the pretzel. Service was great. No complaints about any of the waitresses or hostesses. Overall, a fine place near downtown to get a classic poutine and an artisanal beer. Stay away from everything else.
