We've enjoyed Nicolettea's table on a regular basis this past year…read more The restaurant is bigger than you might expect from the outside with multiple rooms for seating and private rooms for meetings. Overall the staff are welcoming. Attentive to large party orders. The food is good and nice menu of options from pizzas, pastas, salads and if you're in the mood, a good burger. I especially like the lamb lasagna. The bar makes average drinks. Stick with your standards and they do ok or go for a lovely Italian wine. I look forward to continuing to frequent and I can see why it is a local neighborhood favorite.

Each has its own charm. The Marketplace features gelato, fresh pasta, olive oil, sauces, etc. The small but attractive bar and a wood-fired pizza oven are located here. This area can be chaotic when the restaurant is busy. The main seating area, with rustic wood tables and chairs, allows diners to observe the frenetic pace of an Italian kitchen. More tables are located out back - a quieter experience and a treat in fair weather. For larger/private parties, separate private dining rooms are available. My family's menu favorites include the Caprese salad, Spaghetti Alla Carbonara, Gnocchi, and the Risotto. Nicoletta's has gluten-free pasta options. The staff is consistently knowledgeable and competent. A variety of wines is available by the glass. The bottle selection is heavy on Italian reds, and it also features a few Italian whites and West Coast wines. Live music is featured on weekends and on Tuesdays and Fridays, adding to the festive ambience.

They have a cozy indoor seating area with a classic bar backdrop. Or if you feel like sitting outside but being shielded from any wind, rain or coolness - there is a cute picnic table area out on a tree shaded side street. We had an out of town guest and we did not want to fuss with cooking at home nor sitting in a stuffy noisy (or super quiet) eatery! Sitting out side before sunset, was the perfect setting on our Monday night. Our waitress was super interactive and very genuine with her assessments of the dining & alcoholic beverage choices. For adult drinks we had an excellent Next Level IPA brewed & branded for Montelupo, Rose special and glass of House Red wine. I was starving so we ordered the LARGE Radicchio salad and it was Big & filling. A side of fresh Broccolini complimented our individual entrees. My hearty Italian dish was the Ricotta Cavatelli. I even had enough for lunch the next day! My two lovely lady dinner mates had meals of Mafaldine pasta and Spinach Fettuccine (with Grana Padano cheese added). We gladly finished our comfortable dining experience with a shared and inhaled Tiramisu dessert. If you have time, spend a few minutes browsing the Italian Market refrigerated food and alcoholic options. Plus the well stocked and reasonably priced Italy sourced dry goods are worth a view

Our waitress was fine though. The meal was overall tasty, though I found my vodka pasta overly salty (and I usually like salty/bold flavors) and couldn't finish. The sourdough bread app was delicious, as was the radicchio salad. The Caprese salad was standard, nothing too special about it. I wouldn't return.

I stumbled upon this place while waiting for a 5pm massage appointment at a place on the 2nd floor. I was immediately welcomed with a smile by the guy working behind the counter. As soon as I told him it was my first time here we struck up a great conversation. He showed me what types of foods they had and after I settled on a lunch box that included a panini, salad and other goodies, he mentioned that they switch out their salads every Wednesday to mix up the variety. I settled on a Lasagne slice, a Prosciutto Panini and an additional one to go with my lunch box. Their side wall was adorned with pickled and jarred items as well as pastas the like. On the far wall had their beverages and my lunch box came with my choice of drink. I settled on some Italian orange soda. Not sure what it tastes like but I will tomorrow for my lunch. They also have panini press machines. The nice guy offered to toast my panini. I only have a microwave at work so using that will just turn my panini into a solid rock. Microwaves and bread don't do well with each other. Overall a neat experience indeed. I think on my next visit I'll bring my wife with me so that she can try other things. She has a better eye at finding great things to eat more than I do.

Dearest gentle readers,…read more A most scandalous correction must be issued how careless of me. The establishment in question is none other than the divine Grassa, a name that now rolls off the tongue with the same richness as its most indulgent fare. And oh, what fare it is. Here, along the lively stretch of Portland, one may witness noodles brought to life before their very eyes fresh, authentic, and handled with a confidence that borders on audacity. These delicate strands are then enrobed in a mac and cheese so decadently composed, so brazenly elevated, that it dares to redefine comfort itself. And just when one believes it cannot be improved enter the pig belly. Crisp, tender, and unapologetically rich... a finishing touch that transforms the dish into something whispered about in only the most exclusive of circles. Yes, dear reader, this is the sort of indulgence that lingers long after the final bite... the kind that ruins lesser versions without remorse. And so, with that final truth properly set, I take my leave once more. The tales of this fair city draw to a close, but not without leaving behind a most delicious legacy. Until our next adventure ever eastward. Yours most faithfully,

We were greeted with a very warm welcome and were seated right away (without a reservation). Our waitress was fantastic- friendly, gave great suggestions, answered questions and she was on top of every thing. The restaurant was clean, had lots of staff and got busier closer to 6:00. The noise of the restaurant was great- we could easily carry on conversations, but it was kid friendly. My kids had a hard time deciding on what to order because they liked several of the options. Their main menu is also very big with lots of options. I do appreciate that they offer a smaller version of salads you can order with your meal. All our pasta meals came with bread as well. Overall we had a great time. I liked my food, but it wasn't something I would probably order again. Their food was pretty good, but not fantastic.

The server we had was overwhelmed with a very small table. Just a terrible experience and I've seen this place do better. It feels like a management issue more than anything. Uber Eats and GrubHub orders take precedent over anyone in the restaurant. It has slowed down their customer service to a crawl. The wait for a table was bad. Once seated, apparent why... they've turned it into a fast food restaurant for mobile orders. Nobody can get food. The kitchen drowned under that stress. The server didn't perform well. Managers asked, "how's the food?" after it was served. Not what he wants to hear but -- TOO SLOW. This place can do better. Does not value customer.

Our server was friendly and quick. She answered questions and described the specials. They have gluten free focaccia!!!! It was super yummy, but it was also served kinda cold. Worth it. We ordered the fresh catch, which was halibut with some potatoes and grilled asparagus. The accompanying sauces were delicious. The asparagus was good. The white potatoes though had been cooked previously and weren't reheated enough. They were described as new potatoes but were definitely large chunks of russets. They were hard to eat. So we didn't. We also had the Punta di Fesa which is a braised beef dish with mushrooms on polenta. The balsamic mushrooms and polenta were so flavorful and delicious. It was a good thing that my husband started with this dish (we traded halfway through and had plenty to eat!) because I would have eaten his share of the polenta too. The beef however was dry and not what I would have expected from a braised beef. When we were given a knife, we were told we probably wouldn't need it. We did. The service here was friendly and helpful. Our server was knowledgeable about gluten free needs and recommended a great bottle of wine that went well with our fish AND the beef (which is tricky...yummy Chianti AND half price!). It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night at 7. There were people that ended up waiting but not too long. There are shelves of Italian goods all around you. My husband said he felt like he was eating in a store. You kind of are, but it was still cozy. I plan to come back to try the gluten free pasta and maybe a lunch sandwich if they have solid gf options there. Also, the dessert menu looked great. We were just full.
