We've enjoyed Nicolettea's table on a regular basis this past year. The restaurant is bigger than you might expect from the outside with multiple rooms for seating and private rooms for meetings. Overall the staff are welcoming. Attentive to large party orders. The food is good and nice menu of options from pizzas, pastas, salads and if you're in the mood, a good burger. I especially like the lamb lasagna. The bar makes average drinks. Stick with your standards and they do ok or go for a lovely Italian wine. I look forward to continuing to frequent and I can see why it is a local neighborhood favorite. read more

Belying its location in a rather non-descript strip mall, Nicoletta's has three interesting seating areas: adjacent to the Marketplace where the main entrance is, the main area which showcases the open kitchen, and al fresco in the rear. Each has its own charm. The Marketplace features gelato, fresh pasta, olive oil, sauces, etc. The small but attractive bar and a wood-fired pizza oven are located here. This area can be chaotic when the restaurant is busy. The main seating area, with rustic wood tables and chairs, allows diners to observe the frenetic pace of an Italian kitchen. More tables are located out back - a quieter experience and a treat in fair weather. For larger/private parties, separate private dining rooms are available. My family's menu favorites include the Caprese salad, Spaghetti Alla Carbonara, Gnocchi, and the Risotto. Nicoletta's has gluten-free pasta options. The staff is consistently knowledgeable and competent. A variety of wines is available by the glass. The bottle selection is heavy on Italian reds, and it also features a few Italian whites and West Coast wines. This is one of my favorite restaurants in LO! Unassuming from the exterior as it is located in a strip mall off State St, you step inside to a sophisticated space with a nice mix of traditional and modern Italian style. The restaurant is separated into three distinct spaces. You enter into the middle room, which has some seating, a large pizza oven, several display cases of food and desserts and a coffee bar. Heading past the coffee bar into the left room, there is a modern space with bright natural light and a classy ambiance. This would be my choice for a fancy date or special occasion. It also seems less busy on that side, at least to me. Perfect for a lovely conversation in the company of someone fun. The room on the right is a little more dim, and has the appearance of a lounge. There is a bar with several whiskey bottles on display, and plentiful seating. When I visit the restaurant for lunch, this space often isn't used for seating so maybe it is dedicated for events or overflow. The prices are definitely very high. The bathrooms are clean and parking is very easy out front. This is definitely not a place that I would go unless it was for a nice occasion, but the service is outstanding and the food is really spectacular. We snagged a last min dinner reservation the night before Valentine's Day! The restaurant is very nicely decorated and looks like a great date spot. I ended up getting the special which was the buttered noodles with truffle and the soup which was a minestrone. The noodles were good and the soup was decent as well but be forewarned a bit spicy. The arancini was 10/10 sooo good- a must buy! Unfortunately the service was not good at all. We had a male older server that was extremely rude. He cut us off while ordering and wouldn't allow us to order drinks and food at the same time... after spending $200+ in one dinner you have a certain expectation for service and that was missed. We asked if he would be willing to split the bill into two separate transactions (which he didn't want to do) and then made a comment about if we split the bill down the middle "it would have only made a $10 difference". read more

Super yummy place!! The dessert was impeccable and well worth the price. We came near closing, I felt rushed but the food came out very quickly. I wouldn't get the bread again- nothing wrong with it just hard to cut with the provided knife- user error on my end most likely. Very cute atmosphere, nice and light without being harsh lighting. We have been going to Nicoletta's since 2015- it's one of the best Italian places nearby. The food is consistently fantastic, the drinks and wine are great, and the service is good, but some times slow. I wish they had a kids's menu and that they still offered the complimentary bread basket to start. We have celebrated family birthday's there in one of their private rooms on several occasions. After a slightly too long wait for our reserved table, we were seated in the main dining room. This room is a bright and airy feeling space. The wait staff are very attentive and give good suggestions. We started with appetizers that we all enjoyed. I had a Bebbe's Manhattan while the rest had wine. My pasta was good but not great. The sauce just seemed a little unfinished while the pasta itself was perhaps overcooked. Dessert was a big hit with us having gelato and lemon meringue tart. read more

My mom just moved to town and saw this place advertised and wanted to try. Our appetizer, bread and meals were amazing the ambiance was great, especially with the Carolers wandering around and singing. The service is where it fell short for us. We ordered 2 drinks and 10 min went buy and we had gotten appetizers and told the busser about our drinks. Waitress came with one drink and said the bar was busy. I had a full view of the bar and it was not. Our meals came and we were barely checked on and sat for a long time before the waitress came back. We immediately asked for our check and boxes. I've been a fan for years. The Three Salad from the deli case makes for a good starter. Their take on Spaghetti Alla Carbonera is excellent! However, the Pappardelle Al Cinghiale was decent, but unmemorable. We were disappointed that the warm buttered rum mocktail was unavailable. The salted Caramel ice cream was a nice finish. Our server was very personable and had a knack for memorizing menu details. A overall charming spot and quite crowded with retirees during lunch. Our fave Italian restaurant to date here in the Portland-ish area. The food was good -- my husband ordered the spaghetti with scallops and roasted garlic and olive oil, and I got the potato gnocchi (contains pork from the Italian sausage but OMG the mushrooms in the sauce were to die for), and we started with their bread board with house made butters. Nicoletta's Table missed the mark in my opinion. Me and my gf visited around 7pm on a Friday. It was a really big space. I liked the decor and the fact that it was split into 2 different dining areas. The kitchen was also open which was cool. We were seated at a high table and waited a bit for someone to take our orders. We had visited a wine tasting place earlier so we weren't in the mood to drink but they did have wine selections. We were very hungry so we got the meatball appetizer. The texture of the meatball was good but it was just way too spicy for me. This same spicy sauce was also used for the entrees, unfortunately. The spice made it hard to taste anything. I ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese and my gf ordered the Chicken Parm. We didn't really enjoy the meals because all we tasted was spice. I wish it was labeled spicy on the menu and an option to do without it. The service was also not so great. My party of six was greeted promptly even though it was a busy Saturday evening. Our server was notably professional, intuitive, and attentive. She had several tables, but she managed each with ease. Similarly the bussing staff was attentive. There was no pile up of dirty dishes. This is normally where restaurants cut corners. Nicolettea's Table. Every staff member I dealt with was top shelf. The wine list is robust, but curated. It was easy to find a wine that everyone in my party enjoyed. We had a variety of dishes ranging from burrata, salads, bread, appetizers, gnocchi, pasta, every sea food. Everything had a thoughtful presentation and was flavor rich. I had a pasta dish and the pasta was a perfect al dente. The desserts and coffee arrived too soon as if announcing the evening was getting short. Fortunately, every dessert from gelato to the seasonal raspberry cake was delightful. If you order it make sure you have two people to enjoy it. When I caught our server on my way to the table with our bill I caught her and gave her a card. My uncle came up behind and wanted to pay as well. Most servers fumble this situation and it becomes awkward. Our server was a pro and knew exactly what to do. She was also generous when we stayed long after we should have at the end of the night. Yes it was a Friday Yes we spent damn near $300.00 and NO we weren't loud or noisy. We were 2 couples in our 70. Our friend had just undergone a 7+ hr Brain Cancer operation. I didn't think I would see him again. This was his first time out in about 10 days. It was rude and exceptionally poor customer service. A good and important evening was turned into a shit show. The bad: We ordered two drinks and one was made wrong (a martini). The bartender threw what we think were empty bottles a few times and it was very noisy. The service was good although the silverware and glasses were not set when we got there so the waiter had to reach across mostly because of the tiny room and huge table. The chairs were comfy. The waiter was timely informative and had the specials memorized. Unfortunately three of us ordered their wagu beef burger was cooked like an over salted smash burger from Sonics for $22. The French fries were delicious but I feel I over paid for the burger. Also there was no tomato onion or lettuce along side. Nicolette's should not cook burgers. Their pasta salads looked delicious. Lovely ambience and vibe. Last weekend we had a friends reunion (6 of us). Unfortunately the service tainted the experience. The bartender seemed to be everyone's food server in the entire space (market section). There's a busy server who's doing their best and then there's a busy server who doesn't give a hoot and clearly over their head in awareness (takes the entire order without writing it down and forgets half of it, forgets the coffees, took 15 min to get wine). Chit chats with people sitting at the bar and 20 min later returns to the table as if ordering our lunch was a nuisance. We were all disappointed on many levels (the food was cold in the middle on two tarts, charged exorbitantly for a 1/4 cup of plain red sauce on the side). No thank you. Ricardo's never charges for a small side. Would have been nice to know. Such a huge disappointment because we loved this place but we collectively said the quality overall has been declining for a while. I'm a little surprised that the reviews for this place are pretty lackluster? The times I have visited Nicoletta's have all been outstanding. We've had the same server the last few times we've been and she's been phenomenal. Knows the menu and specials forward and backward by heart (impressive), and is happy to help with any questions or offer recommendations. The food has typically been good at Nicolettas, HOWEVER they have gotten too big & too busy, therefore the customer service is horrible! Surly 19-yr-old hostesses with attitudes & smart mouths are the norm. We were not allowed to be seated at our table "until more of our party had arrived" then were scolded by a child because we were at the bar taking up space while we waited for her "permission" to be seated. I've never been treated so rudely in my life. The manager did not have her apologize & made excuses. They lost 8 customers ... it's too bad because the owner is a lively person. read more

It's impossible to review Nicoletta's without mentioned the lack of of a proper and welcoming greeting. Heck, I'll take even an acknowledgment or at least eye contact. We had reservations for 6:30 and when I approached the hostess station, the woman could barely lift her head from the computer screen to acknowledge me. it actually took several minutes. When she finally did, it was as if I was bothering her. She told me my table for two would be available soon, to "stand over there" pointing to a space between the market shelves. I explained that I'm using a cane, and it's difficult to stand, and asked if there was somewhere to sit while we waited. She once again told me to stand "over there" and she would be with me in a minute. Her head remained glued to the computer screen, and even as other customers arrived, she never greeted anyone with a smile or friendly hello. She was consistent in one thing, all customers received the same dismissing attitude and the "wait over there" direction. No one understanding where "there" was. Well, 15 minutes later, with more and more people now waiting between the various shelves of market pantry items, squeezed between the market and dining area and in the way of the wait staff, constantly stepping aside to let them through, maneuvering with my cane, we were finally brought to our table. One they had shoved in front of the pizza oven bar, with no other tables near us or in the vicinuty, and just an inch from the doorway to one of the dining areavicinity, was sitting at the bar, which was roped off. It was an awkward seating arrangement to say the least. Not comfortable and it felt like we were an afterthought sitting in a random spot, not part of either of the two dining rooms or the bar area. Plus, the table had no room for the food we were ordering, which arrived on ginormous platters and dishes. I was constantly flagging down random servers and handing them dishes so we had room on the table. Either use smaller dishes or invest in larger tables! For appetizers, we selected the arancini, usually a favorite of mine. While their's was crispy on the outside and did have cheese oozing inside amongst the rice, there was little flavor. Just tasted fried. Needed salt or parmigiana inside to give it flavor. We also ordered their "famous" meatballs which were hard and dense. Meatballs should be tender and flavorful. I didn't eat more than a bite. A basket of focaccia and thin crispy bread was served, both so over salted we told them to take it away. We wanted the fresh spring pea salad, but at 6:30pm, they were already sold out. So we split the basic Italian salad which was very good. It had radicchio and some olives with shavings of parmigiana and a nice kick from the pepperoncini and vinegar. For the main, we both chose the carbonara, my friend had the gluten free pasta. It's great that they provide this option. The pasta is made fresh and you can tell. We both really like the flavor profile of the Carnonara, made the classic way with eggs, cheese, guancale and pasta water, no cream. There was plenty of the rich sauce, creamy from the technique, and coated the perfectly al dente spaghetti. Definitely a delicious dinner. In addition to the dining options, they have a marketplace where you can buy premade items like Caprese salad, pasta salad, the meatballs, arancini, pizza by the slice, Italian deli meats and cheeses. There were no prices, which is a pet peeve of mine. Maybe those in Lake Oswego don't need to worry about prices, but the rest of us do. The shelves of pantry items, olive oil, fig jam, olive oils, Prosecco and wine were a foodies dream! Yes, I'm speaking for myself! Would be a great place to make a gift basket or pick up something special for yourself or a friend. Food was inconsistent and ranges from 2 - 4 stars. Hostess was consistent, there was zero service for anyone, so earned 0 stars. Servers were young and learning, but trying hard. 4 stars. read more

Took friends out for a nice meal after a fun weekend and we head to Nicoletta's. We had a reservation and we're seated immediately. The hostesses and wait staff were incredibly friendly. We had meatballs and fried calamari for appetizers with their bread and cracker service. For dinner we had their artichoke and margarita pizzas, the Waygu cheeseburger, their fettuccine carbonara, the swordfish special, linguine with clams and the pasta special with fettuccine,sea scallops, asparagus and pancetta. It was all amazing! Everyone at the table was happy with their dish. I really loved the sea scallops.. OMG.. the colors and flavors were a real hit. This place is definitely worth a visit. I have been a long-term (20+ years) customer and fan of Nicoletta's Table. Most recently, however, I had the worse service experience ever. Our server, Omar, though personally very nice, completely abandoned our table. And I mean abandoned. When food did come, we had to ask about the food for the couple we were dining with as theirs was even unbelievably slower. And one of they're orders was just a bowl of soup. I can understand if there were problems in the kitchen, which can happen from time to time, but the disrespect shown by the staff was unforgettable. I hope one day they will get it together again. read more

I'm an Italian food enthusiast and quite knowledgeable, and will say without hesitation that Nicoletta's is the best Italian restaurant in the SW suburbs. My wife and i had avoided it for years because we didn't like the suburban strip mall dining room atmosphere, but the new expanded dining room is lovely and very comfortable. Massive improvement! The food is uniformly excellent, with the pastas cooked just right and beautifully sauced. They serve an especially excellent risotto. Seafoods are carefully prepared. The ingredients for salads and all dishes are fresh and high quality. To top things off, they make one of the best tiramisu's anywhere in Portland. I personally appreciate their well conceived and creative mocktails although the bar and wine list look first rate. We were regulars at Riccardo's but the prices there went crazy. We like the vibe and pastas at Tucci, but I just don't get an Italian restaurant serving Asian and Cajun entrees. So finally about 6 months ago we thought we should give Nicoletta's another chance and now it's our go to in Lake O for dining in. (La Marquesa right next door for the best Mexican food carry out N of Los Angeles!). The folks at Nicoletta's couldn't be nicer. Their to go deli counter and bakery are also terrific. Highly recommended. If you don't want to take the time to drive to one of the half dozen excellent Italian restaurants in NW or SE Portland, Nicoletta's is a great choice for both regular dining out or special occasions. read more

Greeter was very impersonal, didn't show us to our table, but gestured for us to go to her and then took us to the table. She removed the flower arrangement from the table, which I put back when she walked away. I had wild boar ragu, the meat was tough and tasteless. My wife added shrimp to her spaghetti, which were a culinary masterpiece, how you can burn shrimp takes a special kind of talent. Waiter didn't question why we had both left our meals uneaten. Main reason we chose the restaurant was for the crème brûlée, which was ok, but not exceptional, description on the menu said I'd had seasonal fruit and edible flowers, there were no flowers and I guess stewed plums are in season. An experience not to be repeated and a different birthday memory for my wife. One star, because it won't let me give none read more
