Gemelli the Restaurant which is down the block is slated to become a Whisky Down location in Fall…read more2026. Could Gemelli the store be packing their bags too? The store has no life inside, it's depressing. The shelves have minimal products which are overpriced. The grab and go dinners only had 2 choices available, so sad. Store made frozen pasta is available. Fresh meat is available, looked good but expensive. Salted cod was $21 a pound, why? There's a full array of salads in the front showcase which showed some promise but too expensive. No other customers in the store and it was lunch time. The quiche we bought had plenty of cheese and tasted good heated up despite the bottom crust being underbaked. I think that Uncle Giuseppe's sucked away business from Gemelli which used to be the only high end Italian market around.

Upon looking at the receipt I noticed they charged a fee for using the card. When I questioned the higher amount on my receipt the manager, I believe, said the credit card company puts it on there. WRONG! It's up to the merchant to tell the credit card company and in NYS it is illegal to charge more for using a credit card unless info is posted with the credit card amount and the cash amount or there is a discount for cash. Check this out on the NYS Consumer Affairs web site and point it out to merchants who are illegally charging you this fee. Yes, the store is paying a fee for accepting credit cards but that is part of their overhead and the burden should not be placed on their customers. Just wondering if they write off that expense after collecting it from unwary customers. There is a $500 fine for each complaint.

Ive been waiting all month to come back here for my moms early birthday dinner and it was a magical experience! She took the best care for us! The atmosphere was identical to how I remember on my trip to Italy! So welcoming, warm, and true to the culture! We started with the apps: eggplant & tomato gratin.. the tomato was so fresh, sweet and the best eggplant ive ever had.. topped with a simple breadcrumbs The Piadinas were probably my FAVORITE that ive be so excited to try! Especially the Nud: prosciutto cotto fontina cheese and mushroom spread .. this was my favorite on the apps menu that id have for myself as a meal! After sharing the delicious apps my mom and I shared our favorite pasta. Strozzapreti Gratinati that Brittany hand rolls herself with sausage rags, arugala and light breadcrumbs topping! Ended the meal with dessert to celebrate my moms bday, the apricot crostata and pear desserts were our favorite! Sweet plum pear and fresh apricot tart! Thank you so much for making the celebration so special! Brittany and pietro, thank you so much for offering your talent and giving the community the truest italian experience From service, ambiance, kind waitstaff, to every part of the meal was Perfection!!! and im so happy to have the honor of sharing the meal & service by you! I really appreciate the attention to detail in regards to ingredients and flavor pairings. The pasta is very good and is homemade, made in house. The service was impeccable. Great wine list and drink menu. The salad was huge and more than enough for two people, though it was slightly overdressed.

Brixton - Babylon, NY…read more My friend and I visited Brixton on Christmas Eve and had a wonderful experience. The small plates were thoughtfully prepared, the cocktails were creative and well balanced, and the staff was attentive and clearly hardworking. The atmosphere felt warm and inviting, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy good food and drinks. All in all, a very pleasant experience. Highly recommend

These are one of the tougher reviews to make. It is easy to be enveloped by the plethora of great…read morerestaurants in the competitive nature that is NYC, but when you venture all the way out here to Babylon, NY, you have to change that mindset a bit. The Brixton is a beautiful restaurant with very relaxed and casual vibes. The word around town is that their drinks are awesome. What about their food, though? They originally would not seat us in the middle of the afternoon because most of the empty tables were reserved. We had to request to sit outside, which was empty, before they decided to serve us. Odd that they did not even offer that to us. The General Tso' Cauliflower was the only great thing served to us. It is incredibly crispy and flavorful. You almost forgot that you were eating a piece of vegetable at times. The Short Rib Brisket Sesame burger was shocking. $18 for two White Castles-sized sliders. It was easily consumed, and I was left much to be desired. This is most definitely an appetizer item, not an entree. The Chicken Waffle was good. Nicely deep-fried and packs a lot of flavor. The waffle looked dubious. If I had to guess, it might not be mad fresh to order. Essentially, it's 3 drumsticks/wings over a possibly frozen Eggo waffle. I would recommend a second dish if you are looking to get full. The Steak frites and Eggs Benedict were the final dishes served. It is hard to mess these dishes up, but the ribeye was nicely seasoned and cut up. The dishes were nicely displayed. Overall, this is just an OK experience. When the deep-fried cauliflower appetizer is the most memorable dish here, it is quite alarming. Portion sizes are on the small end, and none of the flavors for the entrees really stuck out. Perhaps I will come here strictly for the drinks next time.
