OK, this place is totally everything. It was a little hard to find since it's such a dark place but when you enter, they're expecting you, you'd let them know your reservation. They are so nice. They have you sit down first because you're gonna enjoy a couple of courses along with a complementary cocktail. After this, they pass you to the back room, which is where you get the chefs that are also starting to cook in front of you and you get the rest of the courses. I can't even remember how many courses it was but everything was delicious. only one thing I couldn't eat because it was too fishy for me but the presentation and everything was beautiful. The explanation about everything was amazing. And they did have wine and cocktail parents to add on if wanted which I did add rosé wine. After your whole dine in experiencing, they still pass you to one more room where you get to enjoy some desserts and a cocktail. This place is a crossover between Olive Garden and Sizzler. I'm sure I could've gone to either one and still received the same experience or better. After this establishment ruined my birthday in July, a friend and I decided to give this place a second shot, but we were left less than impressed. The food and service were mediocre, but the drinks were decent. He quietly paid the tab and left earlier than expected after he suggested a different, more suitable option. Have been here several times now and our dinner last night truly blew me away. Every dinner has been fabulous but they truly outdid themselves with the recent menu. The service is fantastic from the minute you walk in. I love that you watch everything being made right in front of you. The kitchen has a very modern sleek feel to it and the smaller group size truly creates a unique and intimate experience. The food was delectable, each dish containing a modern twist on standard pasta dishes with added meats or sauces to really enhance the flavors. Absolutely delicious! Came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. Service is impeccable-every dish is explained. We got new utensils every time we finished a dish and they even remembered that my boyfriend can't have carbonated drinks. The plates themselves are so beautiful. We were told that one of the plates is from Spain and cost $90. I absolutely enjoyed the sauces poured over the dishes. The only part I think was too much was the sourdough bread. They give you this bread in the beginning, but it can quickly fill you up, so you may not want to finish all of it to start. Since we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday, they had a candle lit up for his dessert. It is about 11 courses with some appetizers and surprises at the end. I'm certain that bad reviews are being deleted for this place. We came in hoping to have a pasta experience and were left super disappointed. This was definitely one of the worst, most overpriced meals I've had in Austin. Calling this place pasta bar is so odd considering, we had 2 dishes where we could actually distinguish pasta in the dish. Nothing stood out but more importantly, nothing tasted good. In fact, there were some dishes that actually tasted quite awful. The canapés left an awful acidic taste in my mouth that reminded me of vomit. The main courses had no flow and just felt like there was no theme to this menu. There were WAY too many fish dishes. The dessert fell flat and the snacks they serve afterwards just felt like this restaurant was doing too much without a theme and without any vision. Even the chocolate chip cookies they give you to take home were underbaked which is really hard to do to a chocolate chip cookie. On top of all that, the ambiance is abysmal. Tables and chairs looked cheap and uncouth, there was food on the ground under one of the tables at the front of the restaurant. At this price point, I would expect a spotless restaurant. Austin has way better restaurants, not sure what this place is doing on the Michelin guide, but given how terrible it was, it makes me question Michelin's integrity. read more

What a phenomenal experience. We decided to give Pasta Bar a go to celebrate a big occasion for my wife, and we absolutely loved it. From the moment we walked in, the servers were extremely attentive to our every need. Simply amazing Omakase pasta experience. You sit in a sushi bar style setting with a perfect view of the kitchen and the chefs making their creations. Think Kitchen stadium on Iron Chef only more intimate. The chefs are busy making their masterpieces and will regularly present you each dish taking the time to explain what you are about to enjoy. In between there is plenty of banter with the head chef or Sommelier. The other chefs will occasionally join in on the discussions. The food is incredible. Pasta Bar is absolutely unreal. As others have said, it feels like being in The Bear. I know the "parent" restaurant in LA has a Michelin star, but now that we are getting the Michelin Guide in Texas, this location absolutely deserves it too. The food was creative and appropriately portioned for so many courses. The bread is delightful but don't fill up on it - you will need room for all of the pasta courses! Our menu included proteins like shrimp, chicken, trout roe, sea bass, and lamb. All were equally incredible. The standout feature is the service and experience. We were welcomed in by name and seated with a welcome cocktail and 4 off-menu canapés. We had no idea we would be moved into the kitchen for the main meal, so it was a VERY fun surprise when the sommelier brought us back! We should have read the reviews before scheduling. I have no idea why this place is called "pasta" bar as I don't think we ever experienced any pasta during our evening. We had tried Sushi Bar and were very happy with that experience so it was time to try Pasta Bar. And our experience here was quite the opposite. They start you off with some drink that I could definitely have done without. For the price we paid for dinner, I would have preferred to pick my own drink to start with. We were brought into a small dining area, similar to Sushi Bar, and it's a nice intimate setting. There is someone who calls themselves a "sommelier" but I question that person's training. She seemed to just repeat something rehearsed and she was visibly annoyed when people weren't paying attention to her. Like Sushi Bar, we had multiple servings but little past (if any). I've been going to Italy since the 1980's and my daughter studied in Italy and I can make my own pasta. So, I'm pretty comfortable when saying there was no pasta here. I think serving different sauces with a combination of meats is great, but I feel it's a huge stretch to put "pasta" in the name of this restaurant. Furthermore, after reading many of the reviews, I think most people seem to be drawn in to this "Michelin Star" which applies to another location and not this one. Finally, the cost. I have had some expensive meals in my past, but this one tops the charts. Not only that, but they add the gratuity and I have NEVER heard of such a thing. Certainly when you have a large party, but we were only two people. So, if you are thinking about coming here... be prepared for a bill around $700!!!! And I'm sure it goes without saying there are countless Italian restaurants in Austin where you can get an amazing meal for about one-third this price. Honestly, if someone else were paying the tab, I would not come back here. Biggest waste of money for any meal I have ever had and if you are considering dining here... After trying their Sushi Bar restaurant, I was curious about Pasta Bar. The feel is similar in terms of an intimate dinner party feel. The night we went it was only six guests and a lot more chefs than customers. Upon arrival at a building with no signage except the street number, you enter a lounge bar area and start with a welcome drink. My first WOW on Yelp was for ATX Sushi Bar. It only makes sense my second one is for Pasta Bar!! I followed Jeremy, the head chef, after meeting him at Sushi Bar. So I got a resi the moment they opened and went for my husband's birthday on April 29th, one month in for them. The menu is all made from scratch, and Jeremy picks ingredients that are in season, like ramp in our case, which I had never heard of before. One example on quality here is wagyu quality is rater on a scale from 1 to 12. We got served a A5 wagyu rated 10. I have no idea what it means, but I know it's delicious. The ice-cream with the caviar, are you kidding me? Who would think that would be good? Well, wait for it... !! INCREDIBLE. Everything. Now don't expect to eat pasta, there were only 2 pasta in there, and this is more a european oriented menu, but also some excellent fish, ... Pro tips: - Don't go crazy on the bread!! It's a long menu ahead of you, and save some to clean all of your plates!! - Just like for Sushi bar, I don't recommend going with the wine pairing if you're a lightweight. I didn't, but I watched the girl across from me "suffer through it". It's a lot. The sommelier really knew what she was talking about and picked the perfect one for me. If you're not a lightweight, then treat yourself, those wines are good! - When you do go (because trust me, you need to), ask Jeremy about his trip to France!! First, let me say that I didn't think it could get better than Sushi by Scratch..and then it did. This was far above and beyond our expectations. Chef Jeremy and team were so talented. We'd been waiting to try this forever and a day and the food did not disappoint. Our favorites were the bone marrow, foie gras and A5 Wagyu beef, but all were excellent. We didn't do the 9 wine pairing but did have an excellent Chardonnay and Nebbiolo to go with our courses. The pairing was a lot, but Lindsey does an amazing job of selecting great wines to go with your food. Long story short, just try it and you will not be disappointed. I've been a fan of the Scratch restaurants since I tried Sushi Bar ATX when they helmed the popup out of Bento Picnic. When I read that they were bringing over Pasta Bar LA (Michelin 1-star) to Austin as well, I quickly snagged reservations. There are up to 3 seatings a night, with 10 seats at the beautiful chef's table with full view of the kitchen and all its happenings. Pasta Bar is located on 6th street next to Fukumoto. We actually walked by the restaurant as the signage hasn't been updated yet so it still has the Maggie Louise Chocolate signage from the previous tenant but intentionally or not, it adds to the speakeasy feel of the Scratch restaurants. The experience was really special, from the welcome drink in the beginning to the amazing chefs and sommeliers that guided us through the whole tasting of 14 courses. Each was professional, friendly, and easy to converse with. This happened to be only its third week since opening and I was surprised with how well service ran and the overall flow and chemistry among staff. The first 3 courses were in the form of welcome canapés - salmon roe, yellowtail, and a truffle tart - ready for us as we took our seats. The rest of the dishes took us on a varied journey of seafood, meat, pasta, and 2 desserts - many in preparations and combinations I had never experienced before. I enjoyed every course, even if some combinations I wouldn't be rushing to try again. The tasting as a whole does eat rich, so I would prepare by eating very light meals the day of your reservation. As well, the richness makes pairing with wine essential. The sommeliers did an amazing job taking into consideration our wine preferences and suggesting wines that paired well with the tasting. The menu is split up so that the first half with seafood is more suited for whites, and the second half with meat and richer flavors is more suited for reds. Without saying too much about each course (because like Sushi Bar, so much of the enjoyment of the meal was about the discovery of unexpected flavor combinations and preparations), my favorite dish - surprising to both me and the staff - was the Tomato Salad. Personally, I find that the most satisfying part of a meal, and increasingly harder to come by - when an unsuspecting dish makes you think, solidifying itself in your culinary memories. read more

Very neat take on an omakase-like tasting but with pasta-inspired dishes. Drinks were good! I had an Old Fashioned as well as a margarita on the rocks. As for the dishes, I really enjoyed all of them but did have some favs. The sashimi with tomato ice was super refreshing. The lemon custard at the end was def one of the best dessert dishes I've ever had.. very creative to have it served inside of a carved-out lemon itself.
