A bit on the pricier end, but I do love coming here, especially for Restaurant Week. My favorite thing to order is the crispy whole flounder. It comes with a tangy Thai sauce/glaze that really balances the fried fish. The ambience is upscale and service is decent. I'd recommend coming here for a special occasion or date night. read more

Had an amazing experience at PassionFish! My husband and I came in for dinner during Restaurant Week! For lunch and dinner they had a prefix menu that you could select a 3-course meal from. Lunch special is $35 and dinner is $55. I had the spicy salmon roll as my appetizer. For my main course I had the jumbo lump crab cakes which had a $12 dollar up charge. For desert I had the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. I also had the Dinking Pine Trees cocktail to drink. The service from our waiter was impeccable! Very prompt, answered our questions, had great service! The ambiance is very nice inside and a little more classy than spots we normally go to. Cannot wait to come back here again here in the future! read more

My boyfriend and I went to PassionFish for Valentine's Day dinner and it ended up being one of the best dining experiences we've had! Our server Joey truly made the night special. He was upbeat from the moment he greeted us, incredibly kind, and very knowledgeable about the menu. You could tell he genuinely cared about making sure we had a great evening. His recommendations were spot on and his energy set the tone for the entire dinner. We never felt rushed and he checked in at all the right moments (attentive without hovering). He honestly elevated the entire experience. The drinks were also fantastic, and we loved the bartender Jackson. And of course, the food was incredible. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Between the amazing service, outstanding drinks, and excellent food, it made our Valentine's Day feel really special. We'll absolutely be coming back and will definitely be requesting Joey again! read more

Highly recommend this restaurant for PARENTS with polite and courteous children. You deserve fine dining too instead of McDonalds! In addition to the excellent and gorgeously plated food, I'm giving this restaurant 5 stars for the reasons below: 1. I'm most appreciative when an upscale dining restaurant is so great with children. Mine are 4 and 2, and while they were very well behaved, it's delightful to see the entire staff so welcoming, friendly, and provided top notch service. The activity kits for the kids were super thoughtful too! 2. Their automatic flushing toilets actually worked. Don't know about you, but I can't stand having to find the button to push when the toilets don't work at other places. Germs spreading and so inconvenient. It's the little details that matter to me. 3. Ok, the food was AMAZING! I had the catch of the day special. Halibut over a bed of papaya noodles with peanut curry sauce. My husband had the blackened Mahi-mahi. Children had pasta with fries. Our desserts were mouth watering! read more

One of the top restaurants in Reston, especially for seafood. All the food is exceptional.

Rating bar staff. The sullen and uninformed people working the bar should go to charm school and be more vested in their job. My expensive drink was served in a chipped glass.I drank half of it before I noticed.Asked the bar tender to please toss the drink and glass so no other unsuspecting guest would be given this glass. He said nothing! Not,I am sorry nor let me make you a new drink,NOTHING. Miss the old staff, they where always on top of things. We frequently dine there and have been loyal customers for many years. Now you have to beg for a menu when you sit at the bar.Not going back for a while as the good vibes are gone. read more

Another 10-star experience. Happy Hour at the bar with mom & good friend. Excellent food & drink choices : ceviche, Ceiba nachos, beet/feta salad, seriously delicious. Ashley took great care of us & love the newly painted mural above the bar-looks incredible! read more

Beautiful restaurant with great food and service. I've been here probably six times for business dinners, private events, and on dates and I've never had a bad experience. My favorites are the Joe versus the volcano role, the charbroiled clams, the seared scallops and the Oregon Pinot Noir. I've only had dessert once, and it was the Keylime pie, which came with the toasted meringue on top, which was also exceptional read more

Food was awesome. We found restaurant by accident and will definitely be coming back.

Love this place! It may not be trendy or hip as the other places in RTC, but it delivers. Happy hour on Saturday! Who still does HH on weekends? Great Dark and Stormy with yellowtail crudo spoons! Fried flounder, crab corn chowder, and key lime pie, all part of restaurant week! In food coma land now. read more

Came for restaurant week with a friend for lunch today. Everything was delicious and I forgot to get pictures of it all. I started with the himachi crudo spoons: absolutely fresh and delicious. I could have just had these as a meal. My friend started with the spring rolls which were warm and crispy with a delicious and spicy dipping sauce. We both had the shrimp red curry which was tasty and the pineapple added a surprising sweet bite to it. For dessert I had the bread pudding- yummy but could have used a little more chocolate and she got the Key lime tart. Overall everything was delicious and our server was great. The only thing I will say is that their heater was not working and it was absolutely freezing in the restaurant. Had I known this prior, we probably would have gone elsewhere as it really took away from the dining experience and made it difficult to really enjoy everything and relax. read more

Absolutely AMAZING for restaurant week! I realized I didn't actually make reservations for the restaurant I planned on going to and I was trying to figure out where to go last minute and called Passion Fish if they had seats available and they did! Around 7 pm, it was busy but still had a good amount of empty tables for us even without reservation. Starter - Crab Fitters were tasty with the sauce provided. I couldn't tell what the sauce was but it had hints of lemon and was surprisingly spicy. The crunch on the outside was great alongside the sauce. Entrée (which comes with a side too!) - swordfish with lemon beurre blanc sauce and roasted mushrooms as the side. Swordfish was tasty with pepper seasoning and lemon juice, kind of reminded me of chicken, but taste was elevated 1000x more with the lemon beurre blanc sauce! The sauce made it buttery and smooth, with hints of garlic I think. The beurre is a must! Mushrooms were seasoned well and enjoyable with every bite and surprisingly filling. Dessert - Pear Toffee Pudding Cake was delicious with a nice balance of bread and sweet flavours. There's a taste of alcohol in the pudding which adds a kick alongside the mint. Overall great way to end the meal. I definitely think it's worth $55 for their three course deal with the amazing portions and quality. My favourite thing about this place is the sauce they provide you for each meal so take advantage of that. Service is super friendly and nice. Everyone was dressed well and properly masked, both employees and servers. Decor is seafood related which is a little funny but very nice to look at. I have to come again! read more

We decided to re-visit Passion Fish after a gap of 2 years (pandemic plus it is expensive) ONLY because we heard Gerard Roncal was the new GM. We knew him from Ten Phen where we first met him at this excellent Asian Fusion which sadly closed . We were thrilled he now runs this restaurant and during our visit we could see signs of his service excellence. When we arrived a little early, we were about to be seated upstairs (stairs) and we elected to sit downstairs. The bar was full and although not super busy when we arrived, it filled up pretty fast. We had seen the pot stickers for an appetizer (super), the lobster pot (great just a little more rice) and of course the Branzini which was excellent. GM Gerard came over to see us and we had a great time catching up. One of his Managers also came by. Two others are going to a new location in Florida. Food was great and in celebration of our Anniversary there was a nice note on the menu (Ten Phen special messaging) and we received a nice Anniversary dessert. Geoffrey was our main serve. A bit absent minded in service. However, knowing how difficult it is for restaurants to get, train and keep good staff and with GM Roncal there training, I know service will be great. So did not discount my rating. A great visit and we plan to return. GM Gerard Roncal you Rock read more

Went to Passion Fish for Lunch today, great dining experience. I tried the 3 course lunch, started off with the Spicy Salmon Sushi Roll. The appetizer was delicious. Next course was my Entree, I ordered the crunchy Baja Fish Tacos. There were three tacos loaded with fish and slaw, and three toppings of guacamole, sour cream and pickles degallo. I enjoyed them, and they were filling. I ordered an included dessert of Key Lime tort with a lemon lime sorbet, Delicious!!! The meal was well worth it and Delicious! Generally have had a good experience here. Particularly Sunday Brunch at the bar. The bar staff are excellent and the food has been consistently good. We made reservations for 2 at passion fish. It was my first time coming here and it was a good experience. The waiter who served us did an amazing job and the staff there was very quick. He was knowledgeable and very helpful. We ordered a half dozen oysters. I can't remember the names but half was supposed to be on the briny salty side and half sweeter. Oysters were plump and good quality. We did not get sick eating these oysters. We also ordered the passion fish roll. It was ok. Nothing special about it but nothing bad. Enjoyed it. For the entree we ordered Louisiana seafood gumbo (the main dish not the soup portion). It was tasty. I wish there was more rice but the gumbo was loaded with crawfish, shrimp, fish, sausage, etc. it was really tasty. Would definitely get again. Overall great experience. The staff was amazing and responsive. read more

Perusing Passion Fish menus, be aware of the following: Choose from among the expensive fish offerings. The $55.00 flounder is fine as are other major fish dishes. Reject the lunch menu with the less-expensive, less-fish, less-taste items that have small traces of fish in them as well as inexpensive, common fillers. Reject the fish tacos that include tasteless hunks of no-name fish that sit atop high piles of cabbage in soggy shells. Avoid the crab-Reuben sandwich in which you'll be required to search for the schmear of crab that you will not taste. You will taste the ample, difficult-to-chew, fatty corned beef or pastrami, but you'll not know which it is. Bon appetit. NB: Passion Fish failed to acknowledge my direct-to-it, polite, honest review. RG read more

Decided to eat here kind of on a whim, and this place surprised us in a good way! The atmosphere was cool - the music and vibes made me feel like I was in a lounge or something of the sort. Social distancing and sanitization were enforced, and service was excellent. My girlfriend and I ordered the World Class Martini and Passionfish Sangria to start for drinks, and the Cherry Blossom sushi roll and Crab and Corn Chowder for food. Both drinks were very tasty, and the Cherry Blossom roll had a nice kick to it. The chowder tasted exactly how a seafood chowder should taste - rich, creamy, and a little sweet and a little salty. The crab meat in the soup was definitely on point. For our entrees, we ordered the Louisiana Seafood Gumbo and Pan-Seared Sea Scallops. The gumbo had great flavor and spice, and the scallops melted in my mouth and went very well with the bacon, brown butter, and cauliflower that they came with. We topped off the meal with a Key Lime Tart, which was a great palette cleanser and was just right in terms of sweetness and tanginess. Definitely consider giving Passion Fish if you're in the area! read more

We were in the area and decided to pop into Passion Fish for dinner at the bar. Reston Town Center has multiple parking garages and they weren't charging Saturday evening. Passion Fish is a block from the garage. The restaurant is large and has a nice ambiance. They proudly display their fresh seafood as you walk in the door. They shared that all fish is fresh caught except two that are flash frozen because of the length they have to travel. Impressive! It was a Saturday night and they were BUSY. Doucette was running, but she was very helpful and positive even during the busiest of times. For cocktails, we had the smoked vengeance, a tequila mule, and ended with delicious espresso martinis. For our appetizers we ordered the charbroiled oysters for my husband and I got the Peruvian ceviche. We loved both. My preference would be to have less onions and more heat in the ceviche. I would still order it again as is. For our mains, my husband ordered the gumbo. It's perfect for a cold winter evening. Fish, shrimp, andouille sausage, and a delicious sauce. I ordered the whole branzino with asparagus and a lemon beurre blanc sauce. It was flaky and delicious. This was such a lovely find. We will definitely be back again soon. read more

Octopus and crab cakes. Paired with an IPA and some bread. First octopus came out in 55 seconds, luke warm. Sent back. Second try was hot and bbqed as should be, delicious. Crab cakes didn't look appealing, also were the most expensive I've ever got ($55). The good is zero filler and pure quality. It wasn't the GOAT as I was hoping, but a solid one. Overall good - pricy, not large portions, but the service is awesome. Hard to give this a 4 star it deserves, not visually there. read more

OMG I we have never had such delicious seafood in Virginia and we come from Rhode Island!!! We started with a dozen oysters, yummy !!!! I had the special yucon gold mashed potatoes, with green beans, with Sole and crab layered with some delicious seasoning over the top. My husband had the mai mai with a side of greens with bacon. Probably one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. Our server Daniel was excellent. We will ask for him every time we go there or give a suggestion of a place for seafood. Drink special was an amazing martini type drink that was fabulous. Definitely a five star rating from us. Beautiful decor, spotless, with a wonderful raw bar. Loved it !!!! read more

Since all COVID hell broke loose, we've now ordered food twice from Passion Fish. The first time, I ordered soft shell crabs while my husband ordered scallops. I was all set to take photos...but...dead battery! Well...I won't make that mistake again. Passion Fish has takeout and pick up. I may be wrong but I don't think they work with any delivery services. You also can't order online---you have to call them and place your order. Both times we called, all went well. They have a host stand outside and you can pull up to the restaurant and pick up your food. If you do that, you have to give them a description of your car. We, instead, parked in the nearby garage and walked up to the host stand to pick up our food. I liked the soft shell crabs I ordered. Last year, when I got them and dined inside, I tried the sauteed version of them which wasn't well executed and thus a bit underdone. I've found that the tempura fried method is much better, so that's what I ordered. I also got to order one side dish and I chose asparagus, which was nicely prepared and still had some crispiness to it. My husband really enjoyed the scallops, saying that they were properly prepared. His dish came with some set sides (can't remember what they were) and he liked them all. The second time, I stuck with the soft shell crabs but this time they didn't have asparagus so I got sugar snap peas. Again, everything was well prepared. My husband got crab cakes and chose to get a side of cremini mushrooms. He liked the crab cakes and said there was very little in the way of filler. However, he thought one crab cake would have been enough---not that it stopped him from eating them both! He also enjoyed the sauteed mushrooms. So...it's not the same as dining in---that's for sure. As my husband pointed out, if we were able to dine in, we would have spent more money as we would have gotten appetizers and drinks. However, during these fraught times, you take what you can get. Since I like getting soft shell crabs when they are in season, I was glad that I was able to have them this year. read more

This our go to special occasion place. It never disappoints! We started with the dynamite roll and potstickers. The roll was very spicy but really good and fresh. Potstickers pan fried and quite large, also delicious. I ordered the charbroiled oysters which are a staple for me with a side Caesar for my main. The tuna tartar was a large portion, light and very tasty served in half a coconut with wonton chips. Everything was amazing. I highly recommend the blueberry lemon drop martini as well!! read more

Restaurant Week lunch this week! Best spicy tuna roll appetizer. The tuna was so fresh. Mussels over basil pasta was flavorful . My seafood gumbo was good. A little too spicy. Their key lime tart with coconut ice cream was the perfect ending. They have free parking in the lot across the street, which is a nice plus. They also collect the phone number of one person per table, in case they have to notify you of a covid exposure later. Very smart! read more

Restaurant week was amazing, it's wrapping up but I'm glad that pf is part of it! Tip for people parking at the garage, if you talk to the front end, you won't have to pay the hourly fee! I have to say this place was stellar, the interior is very light and makes you feel refreshed. Light blues, the sea glass lights, and ambience adds the cherry on top! Service was impeccable, as it should be. I started off with the: Crab & Shrimp Crispy Spring Rolls while my pops ordered the Blue Crab & Corn Chowder. I will say the spring rolls had more breading/wrap more than filling but it tasted delicious, if you don't like ginger, it may be a bit much as it is a strong root. The chowder was perfect, you can't go wrong with this dish. Entree: Shrimp & Red Thai Curry: Was pretty impressed with the taste and thickness of the curry, generous portions of shrimp unlike other places where they barely add seafood to their 'catch of the day' dishes. It was not too sweet or salty, but the golden pineapples were a nice touch. Highly recommend. Blackened Fish Tacos: The fish tacos were fried as if it was tempura, which was a new experience. It was not like anything of the normal fish and chips or regular fried fish. I thought it was cod but it turns out it's a tilapia cut. I will say this dish didn't stand out in particular, it was good, but nothing exciting. The dessert: Apple Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake is a must. I do not like pudding cakes at all, but this changed my mind. It was the texture of a muffin but a carrot cake, light and dense at the same time. The cinnamon and caramel mixture with whip cream made me want to eat 10 more, I wish they were larger portions. It wasn't overbearingly sweet, I don't eat or buy anything with caramel, but now I think I may try other caramel sweets now. Chocolate Mousse Bomb Hazelnut Crunch: If you love chocolate, order it. No other words needed. read more

Was so happy to make it here during restaurant week. Myself and 3 friends were seated quickly, and were surprised at how many options we had for our three courses from the restaurant week menu itself (most have few selections available per course). Bread and a cheese spread (similar to pimento) came out quickly after we sat. I ordered the crab and corn chowder, blackened fish sandwich, and the chocolate mousse bomb. Everything was delicious! You could visibly see chunks of crab in the chowder. The piece of fish on my sandwich was MASSIVE. The sweet potato fries were crunchy. And, the chocolate mousse was smooth, creamy, and perfectly rich. Towards the end of our meal we were in a bit of a rush, and our waiter was so kind in helping everything come out faster. I would definitely make the drive to Reston, again! FYI, there are many public parking spots/ parking decks nearby and the area the restaurant is in is clean and surrounded by beautiful flowers. read more

At first glance the menu seems expensive, but then you notice the portions and it makes more sense. I was most pleasantly surprised at how superb the vegetables were cooked. I find it rare that restaurants get vegetables right and these were nicely blanched or sautéed where there wasn't raw flavor but still had crunch. For the most part everything was plated nicely with an understated presentation which makes this a good business meeting lunch or dinner option. The flavors as well were straight forward and delicious. They're not reinventing with wheel, but everything was cooked very nicely. I haven't been to Passion Fish in several years, so when we knew we were going to be in Reston for a Saturday evening, we made reservations to enjoy an early Valentine's dinner here. This dining room is gorgeous! I love the extremely tall ceilings with floor to ceiling drapes and the huge chandelier in the design of bubbles floating up from the ocean floor, it just makes the place look go very grand! This venue makes for an excellent location for a special dinner!! Our food was very fresh and prepared perfectly! Starting with their shrimp cocktail, which was excellent (cocktail sauce was tangy and tasty!), then moving on to ceviche, which was some of the best I've ever had (the habanero was definitely present in this dish, but not too spicy), then their basic greens salad loaded with fresh greens and dressed nicely and then on to entrées... I love good seafood, but have never been a fan of salmon, so they made Grilled Tandoori Mahi for me, which was perfect! The seasoning on the fish was spot-on and the daal had excellent texture and flavor as well. I especially liked the mint chutney and the tamarind chutney that was dotted around the plate, they offered a nice contrast to the robust curry flavors. Their Bahian Style Seafood Moqueca was nicely done and beautifully served. Dessert was special, as we enjoyed donuts! Yes, these were some of the best donuts ever!! We not only enjoyed several courses of food, we also indulged in a few courses of adult beverages too! Starting with bubbles (as they have a nice selection of them) and then moving on to cocktails, which I highly suggest, as they have a nice cocktail list. We knew we wanted a bottle of wine with dinner and one of the servers gave us a nice suggestion, which we went with and really enjoyed. Definitely will be back and highly recommend Passion Fish for fresh seafood done right! read more

1. The ambiance was the best out of the experience - beautiful. 2. The dessert topped the entrees and the appetizers. The chocolate mousse bomb was delicious - enough for two people. A relative and I came in on Sunday for happy hour. The parking garage was free and convenient. The ambiance was beautiful and not too busy. They were getting ready for dinner so we were seated in a section. Our waitress was very nice and pleasant. However, she had us waiting quite a bit throughout our experience. (For drinks, appetizers, entrees, desserts and then the bill). She was apologetic- not sure what was the issue. As I mentioned they were not that busy. The appetizers seemed dry and bland same with our entrees. A bit on the pricy side for bland... drinks were ok. One suggestion would be to add a bit more variety to the happy hour menu. read more
