As we're talking to her, she lets in a couple (who she called out to by name) who were there to pick up "Shannon", who is there waiting indoors.... Those people are still inside, as we're waiting for our driver to return. Meanwhile, another man just exited the place. Such a lack of honesty and honor.

As an art lover, I think Studios on the Park is a MUST VISIT if you're ever in Paso Robles!…read more This is a large space in the downtown area, right in the main park. It is a brightly-lit, high ceiling building that has a collection of artwork (for sale!) from multiple local talents of various mediums. I went in to look, but walked out with 2 multi-media oil painting-newspaper pieces from an artist named Holly whom I even got to meet! It was incredible to get to chat with her about what inspired her to create this kind of work. Then at checkout, my eyeballs deceived me by wandering to some cool glass-blown plant stick decorations that were made from the last Disney glass blower. So, I, of course, *had* to buy a couple of those delightful beauties! Everyone I met there was friendly and welcoming; there is much to look at and much to do there; it is also a place that has many giftable items if you have a birthday or holiday coming up or need some walls to fill. If I had more time, I would have stayed and participated in the self-paced $10 watercolor painting project that was setup in the middle of the hall. Heck, I could be here all day!

A great range of beautiful paintings, sculptures, and mixed media. Also some jewelry and decor. Also lots of spaces dedicated to children's and young adults' art works.

This is one of the greatest organizations in any town! They have won awards and deserve every one…read moreof them. They have been held up as an example for other towns to emmulate! Norma Moye is the Director of this organization & runs it like a fine oiled machine. She has always reminded me of how Judy Garland might be today.... very talented, very dramatic and has found her contentment in her own backyard and wants everyone who lives here to feel the same way. Every business that joins her organization will be touched in a positive way. The more you are involved the closer you get to work with this wonderful lady! She will take you under her wing and take good care of you! Our successful little store was just steps away from her (Main Street's office) front door and until the earthquake wiped it away, we were part of the wonderful Main Street family. Then after the earthquake, it was our connections with the people we met through Main Street that helped us get jobs after losing everything. Their generosity and support has helped us build ourselves back up. We may no longer have a store but we will always be part of the Main Street family!

I'm am equally grateful to the many volunteers and supporters who make this place possible. I'm a single parent and became ill and unable to work a few years ago. This drastically changed our lives financially. My income was reduced to social security disability and SSI.... in addition to extra medical costs associated with travel costs for treatment! This means we have to be extremely frugal. I have fully embraced my new frugal self, but what always gets me (and has never gotten easier to shrug off) is the many sacrifices my children HAVE TO deal with. Things like dance or art classes, sports, and sometimes even the basics aren't options. PRYAF has made it possible for my daughter to take the dance classes she has always wanted to take!! She just finished taking jazz and hip-hop classes and will be taking jazz and ballet over the summer break. For my children to have a "slice" of normalcy at a time I can't provide it has been HUGE, healing, and melts this mommy's heart :) My daughter is always so excited to go to her classes and we're both incredibly thankful for the opportunity and possibility!! My son just got back from session 1. He had a blast! Sleeping under the stars, meeting new…read morefriends, singing songs. Everything camp should be. He plans to attend next year and has said he might want to be a counselor. (He is only 9- he's got a few years to be a camper still!) My sister went to Natoma for years. She and my son compared memories and except for some new songs and food/candy no longer being allowed in care packages, not much has changed in 20 years. The value is fantastic. I'm very happy with the camp (and so is my son!)

First, you line up at the entrance, then you ring the doorbell, but only once as the sign warns. You are greeted through a peekaboo window in the door where they ask your party size. You are then taken in groups of three or less to a vestibule where they lock down your phones so you can't take any pictures and then you are seated in the dark and moody atmosphere. They don't split checks, so be ready to order as a group. There's a 90 minute time limit as well, so don't dawdle. Highlights of our order included the Butter Pecan Old Fashioned (so good!) and the Banana Daiquiri. We stayed for the full 90 minutes and when we left there was a long line waiting to get in. Go early if you want to get one of the few seats inside or be prepared to wait. We loved our experience.

We ended up checking in at the restaurant next door and they told us where to find it and to let them know that we had a reservation. (Not sure if everyone has to do this extra step or if you can just go here) We let the gentleman working know that we had a reservation when he popped out from the peep hole. We first went into a very small room full of books and he explained the process and locked our phones in a bag. They take this seriously. You were not going to have access to your phone. I'm sure the material was made to protect it from getting anything sneaky through. They do, however, tell you to keep the phone with you so it is always in your posession. The inside was quite beautiful. It felt like a speakeasy, quiet and through magical doors where you are not meant to be found. We were seated at the bar and were immediately given water. I first started with a raspberry mojito. I forgot what my husband got the first time. For his second drink he tried their version of the Grasshopper which claimed to taste just like mint and chip ice cream. He was absolutely blown away and said "Wow!" every time he took a sip. I tried it and it was spot on! I didn't want another alcoholic beverage so I got their mocktail version of an Orange Julius and it was delicious! We told the bartender (I forgot his name) how amazing the drinks were and especially the Grasshopper and he got into it and told us how it is made and what processes they go through. It actually has milk but you would never know by looking at it. Service was great. When we left we had to hand the bartenders our bagged phones so they could use a machine to unlock it. I told them this felt like Fort Knox. Too funny.

Bartender was a really nice girl, pretty young and didn't seem to know too much about the history of the bar so when I ask a couple of questions, she walked over to an older gentleman who seemed to know everything about the bar, (he was instructing the bartender which lights to turn on and which lights to turn off, etc.,) but he was much more interested in doing shots with his friends so that was little disappointing, but we did get our questions answered. Apparently once a year, just to honor the old traditions, they allow people to ride their horses up to and even in the bar. Really fun. Google says it's haunted and the bartender said she never had any experiences with the old guy drinking with his friends didn't have anything to say about anything. It could be made into something very, very cute and nostalgic, but it's just a bar and I didn't think it was much worse going to. But we got to check the box that we went to the oldest bar in the area.
