We needed real privacy for the window right next to our kids' bathtub--but we didn't want a flimsy, telescopic rod from Amazon or even Pottery Barn (surprisingly, theirs are telescopic too). We were looking for something solid, beautiful, and truly custom. That's when I found Paso Robles Ironworks. From the start, the experience was exceptional. I scheduled a design consultation to be sure I measured and ordered correctly, and their customer service was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping me get it right. It never felt rushed--just thoughtful, expert guidance. We also opted for the processing-time upgrade, and everything arrived quickly. The finished product exceeded our expectations. It instantly elevated the space while giving us the privacy and peace of mind we needed. If you're debating between "good enough" and truly custom, this is your sign to go custom. We're already planning our next order to outfit the rest of our home. Highly recommend and yes I did price match to competitors and they're 20% less and made in California. read more

I rarely leave low-star reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing. I spent $336.50 on a custom café curtain rod system in the Antique Gold finish after carefully reviewing the product page and even contacting the company before ordering to confirm the correct dimensions. When the hardware arrived, I was immediately disappointed with the appearance and quality of the finish. It did not match the expectations I formed from the product page for the item I purchased. I contacted customer service immediately, before installing any of the hardware, and provided photographs. I explained that I was dissatisfied with the finish and requested to return the complete order for a refund. My request was denied because the rods had been custom cut, although I was offered the option of returning only the mounts and rings. What disappointed me most was not simply the refusal to accept the return, but the overall customer service experience. When responding to my concerns, the company referenced photographs of other products in their catalog--including a decorative medallion--that I had never viewed and that played no part in my purchasing decision. My expectations were based on the specific product page for the curtain rod I ordered. Unfortunately, I am left with custom hardware that I will never install. For a purchase of this price, I expected a higher level of craftsmanship and a greater willingness to stand behind the product when a customer was dissatisfied immediately upon opening the package. read more

We recently added a hat rack and double French return curtain rods from Paso Robles Ironworks to our home, and I can honestly say they're works of art disguised as hardware. The craftsmanship is stunning -- solid, weighty, and clearly made with care. You can feel the difference the second you touch them. The hat rack is both beautiful and functional (which is rare enough to make me emotional), and the curtain rods instantly elevated our living room. I didn't realize how much cheap rods were dragging down the space until these went up -- now everything looks intentional and timeless. Shipping was fast, installation was straightforward, and the quality is just unreal. If you care about design details that last a lifetime, this company delivers in every way. Bonus points for making me feel like I live in a magazine spread instead of a house full of dog hair. read more

I wish i had researched the reviews before ordering. I ordered double hang bay window french return rods. The items arrived and i found some dings. Installation directions were not included. i emailed the rep for assistance and I was advised to refer to the generic online directions. I did receive a photo of the item in tact before shipping. However, they fabricated the attachments with the screws on the top of the rods (how do you open and close a curtain with a screw head on top?) it cannot be flipped because each side is a different length. so now what? Also- the double hang sheer bracket says online that it's to be screwed underneath. the screw hole is located at the base- which makes the rod tight against the wall- impossible to hang rings or even the sheer. We flipped it and let it rest on top of the rod- but no way to attach it. I sent a lengthy email explaining the issues and also asked how to order more rings/etc. there was response to my challenges. We needed custom rods for the entire home, thankfully I decided to order just one room first and i'm glad i did, i would have been miserable to have spent $25k in whole house rods with this poor service. Sadly, we need to hire someone to re-fabricate what we have. Shame on Paso Robles. read more

I have used this company for years and have been generally satisfied with their products. But their customer service sucks! I was removing a finial from a rod to change the curtains and the top of the finial broke off at the weld (see photo 1) The other picture (photo 2) shows what the entire piece looks like. The new finials are the same design, but a different means of attachment. All I asked for was a replacement of the finial that sells for $35. I said I would drill out the plugged curtain rod and attach it myself. Here's the answer I got from the customer service rep: " We do not have a guaranteed life span for the hardware. Thank You, Melanie Ironhardware.com " My response: "Then you should have one - say 100 years. It is iron after all." In other words - Screw you Mister Customer. read more

I found working with Paso Robles Ironworks incredibly frustrating. While the raw materials are good quality, the experience working with the design team was cumbersome, resulting in a substandard product. Their attention to detail during the design process and fabrication meant that multiple orders had to be sent out and I still ended up with a product that lacked the finish of a custom piece (screws located on the wrong side of the rod, causing support mounts to be off center and ruining the visual appearance of the rail). I also found their response to these issues to be extremely unhelpful with no accountability taken by the owner. In my opinion the process felt rushed and not what I expected from an expensive custom order. Wish I had gone with a local fabricator to be more involved and end up with a product I was happy with. Fundamentally, this was not worth the money or time, despite the quality of the raw material! read more

My drapery rods looked good, but when I had an issue with the brackets, the comment from customer service was, "we would charge you $55 per bracket for new custom ones but we can't really do that. Find someone else!" All that I wanted was to extend their standard bracket approximately two inches in length. The length requested accommodates standard Conrad brand window treatments. See my drawing below. This was not a crazy request. I was told by the company originally that they can do anything. Boy is that false. I highly recommend not using this company. read more

We've used Paso Robles Iron Works for curtain rods for two homes. Awesome work and customer service experience. Highly recommended!

Good luck trying to return anything. Can't return anything without an authorization number; and they won't give you one. They don't answer their phone. They don't give a damn about their customers. Defective merchandise that they will not replace, abhorrent craftsmanship ; false descriptions, unprofessional service. Beware of this company! read more
