Mark had like every single component crammed into his van so there was no need for him to go to the supply house to get the electrical device that failed on my system. He had my system up and running within 35 minutes of getting to my address and the first 10 minutes we required just to get on the roof. Sunday morning in the dead of Chicago winter, I wake up to a thermostat reading 55 degrees. I try changing my furnace filter, but that doesn't fix the problem. I call other services and all I get is voicemail and answering services. I finally look around yelp and find Mark. I call, and he answers immediately. I text him my name, address and photos of my furnace as requested. Mark is at my house in 15 minutes, and has my problem diagnosed in 5 minutes. He had the proper part in his truck, and he gets it done very quickly. My furnace is working. My house is no longer cold. Mark's price was fair, esp. since he came immediately on a Sunday. LOOK NO FURTHER. MARK IS THE REAL DEAL. I am very suspect of most repair people. I have been sold a bad bill of goods too many times. So when our AC (Spacepak) stopped working on the hottest day of the year and couldn't hold out a day for our regular guy, I got desperate by 4pm and found Mark. And I only wish I had known about him years earlier. If he's short on the phone, it's because he's a man who is focused on what he's doing and, after spending the hottest day of the year with him, I know that he's freaking smart (see 'engineer'), does the job right and doesn't over charge you for it. Watching him work, he shared how he was assessing the problem and his plan to fix it. He wanted to show us how to clean it ourselves in the future to save us money. And when we couldn't take on the messy job ourselves that day, he took on the tedious, extremely laborious task of cleaning our compressor when other companies had told us to replace it. He said no way it was actually the Cadillac, but there was a trick in how you maintain it. That alone saved us thousands!! He was so good on the AC, I brought him in to assess our aging steam boiler which is a lost art and everyone just says replace without even really assessing it. He's got mad skills and although I was worried about the higher initial fee, I realized that he actually figured out what was wrong in that time and saved us money in the end. I contacted this company through Yelp as we were having some a/c issues and they were pretty quick to respond, within an hour of my message. Set up a general time for the next day and so the next day I waited. And waited. No call, no show, no nothing, never heard from them again. That's too bad as I would have liked to help a small business. Two stars for the quick responding but be aware that the no call/no show could happen to you. Edit: To respond to the comment -- I did text you my name and address that same day you responded to my Yelp message as it was indeed the first thing you asked for. I am not confused about who I contacted. You were to arrive after 1:30 the next day in Humboldt Park. I guess you deleted the message or forgot. I could not be happier with my experience using Pasieka Services. My air conditioner stopped working (very weak airflow) and the house was no longer cooling. I called around a few different places - no one else answered or even called me back in the same day. When I called Mark, he answered right away and promptly scheduled a time for later that evening to come out and take a look at the problem (even though he was booked solid, he still made time at the end of his day). Not only was he able to come earlier than originally expected, but he was very communicative and texted me his ETA as soon as he was on the way. Mark quickly diagnosed the problem and went right to work with fixing it, despite the fact that he was getting into a messy situation (the previous company that installed the water heater and furnace left the area in a condition that made it difficult to repair the problem with the A/C). The problem is fixed and the price was very fair, so I highly recommend Mark for any HVAC needs (or really anything else electronic-related - he can probably fix it, whatever it is). read more

I almost didn't write this review, because I wanted to keep Mark's services a secret so that he could be on-hand the next time I had an HVAC issue. A strange low-frequency buzzing noise was coming from my walls whenever the A/C was on, and out of all the people and companies I called (~10), Mark was the only one who: a) responded immediately b) had availability within the same week c) seemed to have an idea of what he was talking about Everyone else was too busy, didn't respond, or had no idea what my issue was but wanted to charge me $300+ for a house call anyway. Its always difficult as a customer to have a job start during the day and have it end when its dark. Even though the job took much longer than expected, the price was fair. Mark cleaned the coils on my AC unit even though they looked as if a small dog had crawled inside the unit. My girlfriend had a problem with her apartment's external mounted A/C unit, which when started for the first time this summer was making a loud clanging noise. She called the number of the company on the outside of the unit, and they sent out one of their guys in a works van who arrived without a ladder, and who wasn't of any assistance at all - not even to discuss potential problems, contingencies and costs - other than the price of a whole new unit. She cancelled the follow-up call out from the same company. As cliché as this might seem my situation was something right out of a commercial. My wife and I are first time homeowners and on a Sunday in the middle of winter our boiler goes out and we have no idea what we're going to do. My wife finds Mark online and we call him. He responds right away and is at our home within the hour. Total professional, very smart, and was more focused on fixing the hot air instead of being full of it.
