My friend and I visited for walk-in pedicures. We were greeted immediately and told that they didn't have any openings right away but would in 2 hours. We came back and were happily greeted. There was one person available to complete both pedicures which worked out fine. She got both of the pedicure baths ready and was very patient while we picked out our colors. Having her do one person at a time let us really enjoy the massage chairs! She was efficient while being detail oriented with our nails. The borders of the nails are so clean! I had a wonderful experience at Paseo! I went early on a Friday, around 11:30am. There was only one other customer and I was greeted and sat immediately. I wish I remembered the woman's name who serviced me! She was kind and patient. I really appreciated that I didn't feel rushed when I was deciding on a color. I've been to a few nail salons where they almost seemed irritated that I didn't know the exact color walking in- this was the opposite! Once I picked my color, the woman actually showed me three or four shades just so I could pick exactly what I wanted! How thorough! I'm also fairly stiff and fidgety when I get manicures so I get politely reprimanded several times throughout. However, this woman was kind and actually laughed when she told me to relax. I felt the most comfortable I've ever felt at a salon. Loved it! It's a very family vibe- there were small kids in the back playing and eating lunch. It's a playful atmosphere that I enjoyed. I can understand where some might not find that enjoyable, especially if they're looking for more of a day spa vibe. I just wanted my nails done :) She asked if I wanted gels or dip powder. I hadn't heard much about dip powder and she said it lasts longer and looks better for light colors due to the evenness of it; for the color I chose, she said dip powder would definitely be better. I happily agreed and don't regret it! My nails are stunning and I'm completely obsessed! Why not 5 stars? There were a couple of things that I felt were a bit unprofessional. The manicure took longer than expected due to constant interruptions. I didn't leave until almost 1pm. The woman would get distracted, helping a fellow employee or answering the phone. I think a front desk staff would be helpful... I also thought it was very strange that she answered the phone, put it on speaker, and took down a client's personal information right in front of me.... She also took down the information on a napkin... I wouldn't want to call somewhere and have my personal information on blast for everyone to hear... Anyway, she did a wonderful job and I'll be back! The husband and wife owners are SO nice, and they gave us very relaxing pedicures (they don't seem to have a website, so if you're curious the pedicure cost $30). I could tell they have a lot of very loyal regular customers, which is a good sign in a small business. I may not go here super often because it's a bit farther away from my house, but if I lived in this neighborhood it would be my go-to nail salon. Thank you, Yelp--what a great find! I've always wondered why there isn't a dedicated nail salon in Clintonville. (Eh, North Campus...close enough to the 'ville!) I needed my Spring pedi and a mani. A habitual nail biter at heart, I've been making an effort to grow my fingernails out the last few months. In the past, I've always gotten such "disapproval" by salon technicians because my nails are "short & stubby and hard to work with," which has made me self-conscious about going back for my hands. I had such a pleasant experience here. Vinny took great care and time with me and was really sweet. The salon was clean and functional. They had a huge amount of gel colors to choose from--like 100+. I got a traditional pedicure with regular polish and a mani with gel. I had a small cut on the cuticle of my middle finger and as he worked he continuously confirmed that he wasn't hurting me. Because of the cut, he was concerned that the polish would not adhere correctly and told me to come back if there was a problem. Fast forward a week--the only issue I am having is the one he suspected--the gel on the middle finger was peeling off. I stopped by to get it fixed up fully willing to pay him for his time and materials. He not only fixed the problem finger, but he "spruced" up the rest of my fingers with a filing & cuticle trim as needed and another clear coat for all. He said it was no charge--but I insisted on a tip. I honestly don't ever think I've gotten that kind of service in a nail salon before. Thank you! I will be back. I will tell all my friends. I rarely get manis or pedis--maybe 2 to 3 times per year. But I am undergoing breast cancer treatment at the Stephanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center and decided to treat myself. I wish I had decided to "treat" myself somewhere else. I was greeted with, "What do you want?" as I walked in the door. When I told them, "I called about getting a pedicure," I was told, "Be with you in a moment." A little later, one of the technicians motioned for me to take a seat at one of the stations. I believe I was spoken to a grand total of four times: "Is this water too hot?" "What color do you want?" "How are you paying?" and "Have a nice weekend," all without making eye contact once. My technician carried on a conversation with another technician the entire time I was getting my pedi--in another language (Vietnamese, I believe). Classy. My pedi looked fine, I suppose. And the price wasn't too bad--if you don't mind being treated like a piece of meat for $32. To the ladies at Paseo: I apologize if I offended you in any way. I realize I'm not looking too glamorous these days, and maybe I'm not the type of customer you like having in your store. Noted. I'll go somewhere else--if and when I decide to try getting my nails done again. Maybe another business will be able to look past my gaunt frame and cheap wig (it's all I can afford after paying my $7,500 deductible) and at least treat me with a little bit of dignity. read more

The first time I visited Paseo Nails I had about a three star experience. It's not the most glamorous, they do not offer you water, and the prices are very cheap. I got the V manicure I love and the gentleman who I think is the owner was personable enough. While they left gel under my nails the rest of the experience was on par with price and so I sucked it up to you get what you pay for. The second time I came back I got regular polish on my hands and toes to give my nails a break. This time a guy I hadn't seen before was there. The pedi was below average and he seemed to be doing a very lazy job. My mani was equally poor. He did not use a base coat and I think this is why my polish chipped three days later. Today I came in to show the owner and ask for gel and a toe polish change. I was by no means asking for a refund but the female owner acted like I had slapped her children in the face. She argued with me like this was somehow my fault. Instead of offering me a small discount and apologizing, she attacked my verbally and aggressively. If you like poor treatment in a run down salon then this is your place. Never will I return again. read more

Although the shop itself is not a glamorous boutique, the treatment you get there will make you feel like a star. I told him that I'd be right back because I had left my water bottle in the car, but he insisted that he had water bottles for me in the back. Thirty seconds later, he came out with a chilled mini-bottle of water. My experiences at the salons I had previously been to made me feel as if I was just another customer. They would hurry through my manicure and move on to the next person. Jack, however, took his time and showed real care and patience regarding the quality of the manicure that he gave me. He regularly asked if I was doing okay, how I liked the look so far, and engaged me in quality conversation (something that my previous experiences at other salons ALSO lacked). Overall, I think that after my first experience at Paseo Nails, I have finally found MY salon. I felt comfortable, the price ($35) didn't break my bank account, and I have a quality, long-lasting gel manicure. My previous gel manicures BARELY lasted two weeks, if even that, and I am currently going on a week and they look as good as they did on Day One. I have been going here for nearly three years and always have had the male owner, I believe his name is Joe, do my acrylics. I always get the coffin shape and have never had a problem. This time the woman owner did my acrylics and even in the process of adding the acrylic, it was very sloppy and laid on incredibly thick. She cut the nails uneven as well. But I held out on saying anything because I thought she'd fix it once she filed them. But no. The pinky was done well and I said it looked good. But the rest of the fingers did not match. Once I shared that I didn't like it, she said it was too late. She didn't suggest or ask how she should make the service better for me. When I then shared that it was not "too late" and I wanted the acrylics on that hand removed because it's not what I asked for and I didn't like them, she began to clip my nails off quickly and aggressively, yelling, then speaking in her language to the other owner while they sat right in front me. I don't think speaking in her native language near me is wrong, but when you're obviously upset it is very disrespectful, as we've been speaking in English this entire time and you're upset so who knows if you're speaking badly about me. I've never experienced something this horrific in my entire life. She literally told me it was too late to change anything; never offered to re-do that hand. I never got a sorry for the yelling and the male owner stopped being courteous to me as he usually does. I'll never in my life come here again. It's overpriced but close so I usually go. They don't know how to own up to mistakes when it happens. I never got an apology for her messing up or in his words the "miscommunication". This was my second time going and getting a gel manicure here and I have been extremely pleased both times! My first manicure lasted three weeks before I got it switched, only because my nails were growing out. They take their time and do a very good job, very precise polish application. The owners are very friendly too, and take pride in their work. They seem to have a very regular customer base and knew their clients at a more personal level. They gave me several tips to improve the strength of my nails as well. They also have a good variety of colors to choose from. My new regular spot! Very happy I stopped in on a whim. As a Clintonville resident, I'm glad to know there is a great nail salon in walking distance! *update* Nails still look great after 2.5 weeks! How do I leave zero stars. Had a friend get her nails done here and she asked for medium acrylics and cut them too short for her likings. She asked if he could just take them off and he then began muttering under his breath to "not waste his fucking time" she then says excuse me and then turns into a full blown rage of him throwing her hands across the table,grabs her purse, and curses at her to get out his establishment. I understand the frustration of removing acrylics but the temper tantrum and curse words is completely inappropriate. We all have bad days, not an excuse to treat a customer in that manner at all. read more

I was a walk-in and on a time crunch but they got me right away. The interior is nothing glamorous. Pretty low-key from out the outside & the inside. Pretty divey. Near OSU campus. The girl who did my pedicure was nice. She's prob the first person to ever ask me if it were okay all throughout the process. I was in a rush and had to skip a couple steps (lotion and scrub etc). I wanted a manicure but I was already an hour into the pedicure and had to get going. Price was ok. They charged me $32 even though pedicure is listed at $30 and I didn't even have her do a few steps? A few days after pedicure, the edges on my toes, not the tips, are looking funny and like the paint wasn't applied evenly. Also, there's paint on my cuticles. Sure, I got in a rush toward the end but even in a slight rush, an hour had been spent. Lesson learned: don't go in a rush & paying a little more is worth it. read more
