First of all, I was charged $71, much higher than the price shown on the sign (he did say when I got there it would be more than the sign, but then why have the prices displayed if they're wrong?). Secondly, he seemed to have no idea what he was doing and asked me a ton of questions like what size the engine is (I don't know, aren't you the mechanic?!). On the paperwork he got things wrong, he said my car was an '84 when it was an '80, and said the inspection reason was "change of ownership"- which it wasn't, I never said that and he never asked me. He failed my car because something was "Missing". He opened the hood and tried to ask me "the air injection should be there, where is it??". I am not a mechanic, I don't know! But the car runs great, has seen multiple mechanics, and passed smog two years ago- if it were missing an entire system I think I would know! He also said vacuum lines were missing, they're not. I brought my car to another smog shop one week later without changing a thing, and they passed the car just fine. What was really strange as well, at the end of the inspection when he said it failed, he asked me if I was undercover from the state. What!? I think because I was in business clothes he had this theory from the start and purposely failed my car thinking I was trying to catch him passing a car he shouldn't. The whole experience was strange, expensive, and frustrating. I will never go back there and hope this review saves someone time and frustration. Can you imagine if I went to a mechanic and spent all this money to "fix" the things he said, that never needed fixing! I felt taken advantage of. read more
