A fabulous Five Star Customer Service experience from the minute Ruby and I walked into The Parrot Connection in Reno. I felt so happy to have Manager Michelle clips Ruby's nails for free. What??? I bought some cool new food, Vegies, papaya and new bird seed. A few new toys and a list of bird avian vets. Thank you so much Michelle for making me so happy today. I have supported this business for 9 years since I bought my first bird with them. After boarding my two birds with them this previous week I will no longer support them due to such incompetent employees. I called and spoke with them 2 days prior to picking my birds up and was told "They're doing great!". But when picking them up two days later turns our one of my birds had been plucking the other until her entire head and shoulders were bald. They clearly didn't not pay attention to them in any way, shape, or form and flat out lied to me. They ask for contact info prior to boarding, but apparently that's just for legality purposes as they don't care for or pay any actual attention to the pets once the owner leaves. read more

Wonderful store devoted to pet birds and their owners. The owner is very knowledgeable and caring towards all the animals under his care. They offer boarding, which is wonderful since it is often hard to find someone to watch your pet parrot, and take time to socialize with the boarded parrots so they don't feel like they were abandoned. The store sells several kinds of well known food brands as well as their own mixes, many different toys (several have been new favorites for my own fids), a large selection of cages that are appropriately sized for the parrots, some unique odds and ends including dishes and millet. They also breed certain kinds of birds. Of course, if you go by there you have to say hello to their friendly Caique Calypso - she really can get wound around your fingers or hair or purse, and is an absolute delight to interact with - it's also a testament to her owner (who runs the store) that she is so friendly. We love this place! Our green cheek conure Kobe just LOVES Star! When I took him in to get boarded he literally jumped out of his carrier and crawled up into her hair to nuzzle her. Great resource for bird owners. I usually use their boarding service for extended trips out of town and take advantage of their free nail and wing clippings... for the bird of course. I get my nails done somewhere else. Boarded parrots are taken out for socialization. They offer free wing clipping and toenail trim for smaller birds and have a huge selection of quality food and toys. Mark is a parrot whisperer. We love our birdie, our green cheek conure, which he hand fed and hand raised. He knows their behaviors, knows what to feed them, and knows when something's up and they need to see a vet. His parrot shop is clean and doesn't stink like a lot of other pet stores. I know what a good bird store looks like and this is not. The collection of bird toys were poor. The birds were kept in poor health. It appeared some already had feather picking problems. Bought my Cockatiel from Mark years ago and he is a happy healthy little bird. I go here for all of his food and toys. Their service after the sale is terrific including wing and nail clippings at no charge. My bird was hand raised and was friendly from day one. Parrot Connection is absolutely the best place to go for birds! They sell hand-raised babies of almost every type, and the program is great. You are able to interact with your new bird from hatching, until they are ready to go home! Not to mention you get free nail and wing trimmings whenever you need it. They also offer boarding, which is perfect. Since it's hard to find someone to trust with your bird. They interact with the birds, and are very knowledgeable. Plus it's fun just to go there and interact with their birds. They have quite a few birds that they are more then willing to let you hold, just to show how amazing they are at raising birds.
