Aisles of European goodies
Chris A.

This place is just fun to browse in ! Although the shop inside is small don't let that fool you. Aisles of goodies from all over the world. If you need items for baking , they carry many spices from other countries as well as basic baking staples. The deli counter has fresh different types of Feta cheese and cold cuts . If you are craving a good wholesome meal they also hot food to go. I peeped a nice looking stuffed red pepper and amazing potatoes. The frozen food sections has a variety of take out options - many you can reheat top of stove to cook. Looking for snacking options? They feature amazing bulk purchase nuts/snack mix prepackaged by the pound also. I grab a bag to keep in my work back pack for a quick crunchy craving . I buy the mini pitas which are located near the deli counter - inexpensive and perfect for lunch. Lastly the beer selection towards the front of the store is extensive. Beers from Germany, Poland , Serbia , Italy and USA .

This is my essential store in Ditmars . The products are always fresh and in stocks. Variety and new items always surprises you. Staffs are super friendly and attentive. They're literally making your day whenever you stop by.. Especially Enxhi and Antonio! A must have place in the neighborhood. Love you guys

Parrot Coffee has more than coffee. It is really a European/Mediterranean grocery store more than a coffee place. I definitely have more interest in their grocery section as there are a lot of imported items that you cannot find in a regular grocery market. As for the coffee itself, I just don't feel comfortable to see roasted coffee beans just sitting around uncovered for more than 1 month. Maybe I am just a coffee geek. But do come for their grocery!

This place offers a variety of things from Turkey, Greece, Russia, Bulgaria and other Eastern European countries. If you miss food from any of these places or want to give it a try this is a place to go. Variety of cheese, olives, preserves, sweets, dried fruits, nuts etc. I usually buy Turkish coffee, Siberian dumplings ( pelmeni), turkish lahmacun( pizza type dough topped with meat and hers) Greek frozen pasties and Georgian mineral water- Borjomi, all of which are delicious not like other frozen food sold elsewhere. I go there once a while and stock my fridge which serves my food cravings and saves me time from cooking.

I love this store because of its variety in tons of European goodies, like coffee, rugelach, and olives. The market is clean and laid out well. There's a surprisingly large frozen food section, as well. Whenever I'm in this part of Astoria, I make a point to stop in.

Eggplant pie- left ($3). Meat pie- right($3.50). You can't leave here without taking one of these to-go!

The sauce that was served was absolutely delicious with the signature tanginess and sweetness of Thai food. The hot pot that I ordered was also enjoyed to the fullest! The food here was super good but also I love liver so I was glad they had a hot pot option that included that! After a delicious meal, we finished off with the mango bingsu which also was a huge hit! The bingsu was super fluffy and light! This meal was definitely worth it and didn't leave me feeling super heavy. The service was also great even though they were always full house with some parties waiting and only one person serving. I will be back next time to try their Thai barbecue which I saw people having and I could stop looking at! On top of all this, the server or manager even gave me a free Melona ice cream which I paired with the bingsoo after he saw that I was pregnant which I thought was super sweet. I don't live too far from here so I also want to add that even though I have not added a review, I always go to this restaurant to grab a coconut Thai milk tea to go (I am not even a huge Thai tea fan)! For some reason, I love the coconut thai tea from here and always find myself craving it.

The atmosphere is indeed cozy with quaint outdoor seating as well. Unfortunately, I gave their iced matcha latte two tries, on two separate days. Sadly, their version of an iced matcha latte is watery and lacks the matcha flavor, despite being green. It just tastes like milk. It takes a lot of flavored syrup to make this drink taste better, and syrupy drinks aren't good. The first time I had it, I was surprised to be chewing on ginger pieces that were floating in the bottom of my drink. Luckily, I like ginger and, more importantly, I'm not allergic. I passed it off as maybe their unique twist on a matcha latte. When I went back for a second try, I asked them to not put ginger in the drink, to which I was told ginger should have never been in the drink and the whisk they used was likely not fully cleaned from a drink that contains ginger. Uhh, gross! And not a good practice for a restaurant serving the public. I forgave the first mistake and ordered another iced matcha latte with lavender. I get back to my family's house, take a sip, and notice they omitted the lavender. Had to walk back to get it corrected. The young lady taking orders was very apologetic and swift in correcting it. However, her colleague wearing a bandana on her hair was not as kind and seemed to be irritated at my kind request it be fixed. Both of my experiences have been off putting and I simply will not be back! Thank goodness the neighborhood has alternatives like Over The Moon and Qahwah Valley. Espresso 77 would benefit from improved quality of their products, cleanliness, and customer service.
