Made an appt for eye exam, planning to get contact lenses and eye glasses. After arriving and waiting approx 20 minutes, and 10 minutes after my scheduled time, the receptionist said she just realized I was a new patient and needed to fill out forms. I completed them and after waiting another 15-20 minutes I was told they could only do an exam for glasses and I would have to schedule an additional appt for contact lens fitting because the only person capable of doing this works on only two days. Why was I not scheduled with that person initially since I told the office I was coming in for contact lenses and glasses. What chaos and disorganization. I left after wasting more than 90 minutes between travel and waiting. I will not waste time doing business with such a sloppy practice. Don't waste your time, go somewhere else. read more

I made an appointment in a hurry due to needing an eye doctor. I was kept waiting more than 30 mins for my appointment outside. I get Covid but at least communicate. Secondly I purchased 2 pair of glasses. Reading and and regular. They prescriptions are almost identical. My regular glasses are awful and broke. Tried calling no one answers or responds. Going back to my previous Dr who had moved to NH but worth the drive or I stay and spend lots of money for garbage. read more

I used to go to this place for years. People are nice enough in person, but I discovered that they weren't honoring any of my insurance benefits about a year ago. I spoke with insurance and they confirmed--ended up costing me hundreds of dollars. They always would tell me I needed an exam, even when I had already had one recently. I just had to call them again for my RX information so I could order online. Guy on the phone told me it expired and I can't order lenses anywhere. I reminded him that all RXs are extended due to covid. He told me I was wrong and I missed the grace period. I called Visionworks immediately after. They said RX was still good due to covid. Contacts are already in the mail. Again, nice enough people when you see them, but they tell me I need an exam literally every time I speak to them, or they charge me full for lenses and ignore my benefits. I have been going to Parrelli optical for several years and they are the best around. Staring off with Shelley the office administrator- after several appointment changes due to scheduling conflicts Shelley was able to fit me in for an appointment. Shelley was very patient and greeted me with a smile! Dr. Metsch did a thorough eye exam and is extremely professional. Matt Mahoney is an contact lens guru who fitted me with the exact contact lenses needed. I've developed a new eye problem which has made it difficult to find the correct glasses prescription. My opthamologist stated that I'd likely need to fill several different glasses prescriptions before I found an RX that worked as I needed. My opthamologist sent me to see Martha Law at Parrellii. She told me that Parrelli had expertise in my vision issue, and that they would have more flexibility than most in replacing prescriptions. I've really been wowed by Martha's work- She's gone out of her way to understand my eye condition, and to help find frames that best accommodate my presciptions. As predicted, I've needed to make several trips to the Ophamologist, and to Parrelli for new prescriptions. And Martha has been there every step of the way. She also helped me find a set of glasses that are affordable, comfortable, and that I love wearing. Parrelli is a great optical shop, but Martha's attention and expertise really makes this place special and unique. Thank you Martha for all your help!! read more

Horrible customer service!! I went in for my eye appointment at 2:20. I thought my appointment was at 2:30 like my card said, but at the store I found out it was supposedly for 2 and they didn't even have my name on the computer. They said that the man in the doctors office now was early and because I was 15 minutes late they gave up my spot. Okay, fine. They say they schedule every 30 minutes for the eye appointments and that the guy in there would take a long time. At this point it's 2:30 I give the store my phone number and I wait in my car and wait the 15 minutes until they would give the next persons spot up. I go back inside and they said that the doctor was on his break from 2:30 to 3:00. What??? They never told me the doctor had a break when I was originally there. I think that they were just trying to cover their butts for not having me in the system and overbooking because, if the guy was really "early" he must have been an hour+ early, which is bull. I will be looking for a new eye doctor. read more

I signed up to Yelp specifically to relate my experience at Parrelli of North Andover. Being new to eyeglasses in I found them most helpful when I needing to purchase my first pair of glasses last Fall. They not only found the most economic pair but helped me understand what styles work with my face and lifestyle. But here it is, 8 months later and what's impressed me the most is that when I broke a pair, they took me without appointment, and replaced the entire frame, as the employee stated, " there was SLIGHT wear on the inside of the arm" (which had nothing to do with why they broke). I was not aware of any warranty and had he not mentioned it, was prepared to pay for a whole new frame. Instead of 200.00 It cost me $30.00 and was done in ten minutes. I think this is called 'customer service' which I thought was all but extinct. read more

I was taken. Came in excited for my first eye exam and the doctor was very thorough. Needed real eye glasses this time and was moved into their store to pick them. Heavy sale to go to the new, and expensive, transition eye glass lenses. Was told they've changed a lot and will love them. They tried to mock up a pair and seemed reasonable. When I received my new glasses the lenses were NOTHING like what I tested. The reading area was only 4-5 inches wide requiring me to move my head back and forth to scan even a book page. Useless. I asked them to create bifocals which turned out great but we're only half the cost. When they came I was excited and worked fine, but Parrelli would not give me back the almost $200 extra I invested in the transitions that did not work. I'm calling it fraud and will be seeking other recourse. Not happy. read more

WOW how things have changed!! What I failed to mention in my last review was they they did seem a bit more expensive & seemed to do more tests than I remembered from my prior doctors. I thought maybe they were more thorough & told myself the added cost was more of the North Andover surcharge anyone who lives up here is forced to pay if they stay local. So when it was time for more contacts (they will not order them for you or give you the prescription until you go in for your yearly exam.) I made the appointment, I explained due to issues beyond my control I was not financially able to go through all of their tests this year. (they insist on doing every single known eye test even if you & all known family members have no history of any eye problems!) So you get your eye exam and then they have your see a "contact lens fitter" I can honestly say in the many years I had contacts if I saw a contact lens fitter I was unaware & do not recall paying an extra fee for that service. So I see the Dr, explain my situation, he stated OK, I'll do everything we need & you will be all set. When I leave they ask if I wanted to order my contacts. I told them I had a box or so left so I would wait. Now about one month later I call to order my lenses & I'm told I need to go back another visit to see.... you guessed it the contact lens fitter. When I explained several times over several days to several people that I had a complete exam, I could not & would not go back & give them more money (other than for the new contacts) I was told I would not be getting my prescription & would not be getting my new contacts. There was no talking to them & no explaining to them. They also seemed completely unfazed when I told them I would not be back & I would do my best to make sure everyone I knew would not go there. SO STAY AWAY, they are expensive, they will do unnecessary tests & they can't be trusted. I should also add that parking can be tough, there is no waiting area (you sit among the glass displays) and I have not been impressed with the cleanliness. They just sit you done at one of the glass counter tops to try on contacts. Not very sanitary. Do yourself a favor. Don't go here!!! read more

I have been going to Parrelli Optical for over 20 (!) years and I was really excited a few years ago when they opened this location in North Andover (closer to my house). I have no fashion sense and they always hook me up with glasses that look great at a reasonable price. They are extremely pleasant to deal with. Dr. Metsch, who has been my eye doc for over 10 years, is excellent. I have difficult eyes for contact lenses and yet Parrelli always manage to find the latest and best type for me as my prescription changes. All I can say is, we are talking about eyesight here--this is not a job for a cheap discount store optometry shop. You need to go to professionals who treat you right, and more importantly know what they are doing with your eyes. Parrelli is that place. read more

I have been at the North Andover spot for 10+ years, no problems yet. Purchased out of pocket every year a new pair of glasses. As of this writing, a new contact script. Pros: Great People Completely affordable prices (I'm by no means rich) Plenty of choice! Cons: None that I can readily think of. Visit them, definitely worth the time / chance. read more
